  1. Agree with all of this. Only thing I would add is how unbelievable I think it is that McGregor didn't make the squad.
  2. Drop Darren Fletcher? He puts in an absolutely solid 90 minutes in a win against Arsenal, and you think that's the perfect time to drop him and move on?
  3. Agree with all of this. Sutton makes some more interesting points: Or maybe he's just fed up answering the same daft questions over and over ("is this a must win game Gordon?" before every game) Possibly. Judging by some of the posts on here, he might be right about this. Nail-on-head.
  4. Spot on. Also agree with the comments that Patterson looked a little out of his depth. Surprised that Hanley seems to be getting most of the blame for their goal. Looking at the replays I would say Bannan should have done a lot better. The guy who provided the assist just jogged past Bannan, and Bannan made no effort at all to go with him.
  5. The trick was to make the majority of members red bull employees, then make it a closed shop. The German league later forced them to allow new members, but they got around this by denying new members a vote (TAWG already mentioned this)
  6. so playing your home games in the Volkswagen Arena, and putting the Volkswagen emblem on all your shirts has nothing to do with marketing?
  7. All clubs owned by large companies. So their situations have something in common.
  8. Apart from Forrest, this is spot on.
  9. You know, there's not much in it, but you might actually be right. McArthur arguably has a slightly better touch, is better in a tackle, and scores slightly more often than Fletcher. Fletcher has a slightly better range of passing, commits less fouls, and doesn't dive in as much as McArthur.
  10. I've been thinking about this a bit. It seems to me the list of possible reasons to hate RB Leipzig are: they bought another club out of existence they have no tradition they found a way round the 50+1 rule they are buying success they were set-up to promote red bull IMO Buying another club out of existence happens. Airdrie United for example. I imagine Airdrie aren't a popular club with neutrals. No tradition. Every club has to start sometime. 50+1 rule. This seems to me like a reason to be concerned. But not that concerned, because it's still not easy to get around the rule. Buying success. Not any different to Wolfsburg, or Bayer, or Hoffenheim is it? Promoting products. Every club in the world promotes some kind of product now. Is this really any worse than Celtic promoting Magners? Buying Markranstädt out of existence and bending all the rules seem like the only reasons to hate them to me. But they seem to be mainly hated for having no tradition, buying success, and promoting drinks.
  11. Two names I forgot: Whittaker - no getting a game for Norwich Broadfoot - no getting a game for Rotherham
  12. You can see the team lines etc. here http://www.seagulls.co.uk/fixtures-results/under23s/ Last night Harper was an unused sub, in the previous game he got brought on for the last 15 minutes with the team 7-0 up in the cup. In the game last week against West Ham he got brought on in the 91st minute. It looks like either the Brighton U23 manager is totally clueless, or Harper simply isn't good enough for the "Under-23 Premier League Division Two". btw Brighton U23s have won 1 league game all season.
  13. It's really weird comparing how many options we have at left-back and how few we have at right-back. Hutton's 31, but you could be forgiven for thinking he was 35 the way he plays now. Bardsley also seems to have suffered a massive dip in form. Donald Love's career so far amounts to about 10 games of football. So too early to tell if he's good enough. Palmer is now 25 and hasn't established himself in an average Championship side. Caddis is either injured or frozen out at another average Championship side. Our best right-back is a centre-half

  15. That's league goals, and 53 of them were in the EPL. If you add in Cups and International games, I think it's more like 130.
  16. "Great form"? Cost Celtic a goal last night.
  17. Players that missed out: Mulgrew, McDonald, Phillips, McCormack, Watt
  18. His manager came out and said this the day after the Dortmund game. Roughly "he has no positional sense when his side isn't in possession, so it will take time before he's up-to-speed and able to play 90 minutes for us'.
  19. The Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhüttl was on telly saying that they paid a huge amount of money for Burke because he has huge potential, but that as far as his positional sense when not in possession, he's like a blank slate; he's been taught nothing. Hasenhüttl is known to have his teams press the opposition when they don't have the ball, so players switching off when not in possession is not something he'll accept. He went on to say that it will take a little time to get Burke up to level that he can contribute for 90 minutes.
  20. I think by "get behind the manager" he means stop comparing WGS to Levein, and give the "Strachan has lost it" pish a rest.
  21. For their goal Martin was caught ball watching. If he'd been paying attention to where the man he was supposed to be marking was, he would have given himself a chance get a flick on the cross and maybe prevented the goal. There's no way Paterson could have got to that ball first. However, I think our midfield was more to blame for the goal than Martin. Ritchie, Snodgrass, Fletcher, and Bannan are all standing still marking no-one when the cross goes in.

    Joe Bryan?

He's 22, left-sided, and he played (and scored) on the left-wing against Villa in Bristol's last game, but he seems to be more of a left-back. If we try to put out a whole team of left backs one day, I think we'll need him.
  23. I think you're not far off the team that will start. WGS will only start 2 from Fletcher, Bannan, and Morrison. So probably Fletcher and Morrison. Then it's 1 from Fletcher, Martin, and Watt. I don't see WGS picking McKay (too inexperienced) or Anya (not much point playing a pacey winger against a team sitting in). Then for the remaining 3 midfield places, it has to be Burke, Forrest, Ritchie, Snodgrass, or Naismith. None of them plays on the left, but one of them will probably get asked to. Maybe we'll see Naismith instead of Forrest on the left?
