  2. Not a fan of Liverpool, but Gerrard's performance in the Champions league final against AC Milan was just incredible. That can't be denied.
  3. I work for a US based oil industry corporation, in an office full of people whose job it is to maximise profit for said corporation. We can't claim to be anything other than capitalists, yet the vast majority of us are vocally pro - independence. The media did a very good job of portraying the average yes voter as some pie in the sky left wing loony, whereas in reality (just like the no voters) they come from all walks of life. Don't believe the hype...
  4. Thought you might like that, Dave. How about some African sounds? This is magic; https://youtu.be/OJCwfjl_sXc
  5. Went to see The Dark Horse last night. Great story, brilliant film.
  6. How do they know his demons were gays? Were they well groomed? Big fans of Erasure?
  7. I seriously think I might be turning into Dan, in fact scrub that, I think I might already be Dan.
  8. Haven't seen this since it was on 10 years ago, but was off sick today with a virus and noticed someone has uploaded all 6 episodes on YouTube, so watched them all. I'm a big Chris Morris fan, and this was up there with the best stuff he's done. I almost forgot just how good it was, and if anything, it's got better with age. Recommended if you haven't seen, or even if you have! 10. There's a few open water swimming groups around, worth checking for in your area. Normally connected to triathlon clubs. I'm a road cyclist, thinking about doing a triathlon at some point, so I started swimming in a pool and at first could only manage about 2 x 25m lengths before being totally cabbaged! I watched loads of YouTube videos and studied the technique, and after about 2 or 3 weeks, it clicked into place in my heid and I could easily swim a mile. So my advice is get yourself on YouTube, try to get the technique in your head, hit your local pool until you get the technique, and then look to join up with a local open water swimming group. Good luck!
  11. Went to see Ex Machina last night. Really enjoyed it! Alicia Vikander is an absolute babe. Arguably the sexiest AI I've ever seen...
  12. Just back from seeing Whiplash. Fantastic film!
  13. The main difference is the Cannondale has disc brakes, so it all comes down to whether you want disc brakes or not I guess. The advantages of disc brakes are given here (copy & paste from Edinburgh Bike Co-op website); The Benefits of Disc Brakes Proven for over a decade on mountain bikes and better quality hybrids, the benefits of disc brakes are becoming more and more recognised on road bike. Moving the brakes from the mud and rain-attracting wheel rims to the relatively clean hubs makes for an improvement in the brakes’ all-weather all-conditions performance. Disc brake pads are much harder so they last much longer. That's why disc brakes tend to need far less maintenance compared with rim brakes - they don't require such frequent adjustment to compensate for brake pad wear. The wheel rims should also last much longer now that they are no longer being worn down by the brake pads. I don't have disc brakes on either of my road bikes (I do on my MTB though), but they are growing in popularity, so I guess they could become commonplace.
  14. Back in the 70's, my auld man and his mate went out on the lash in nearby village. His mate's wife woke up the next morning, went downstairs, opened the kitchen blinds, and there stood in the back garden was a grand national winning horse. Long story, which (allegedly) involved the horse eating the poor guy's watch...
  15. The Variety Bar on Sauchiehall Street. One of my favourite pubs.
  16. My first game was v Iceland in 84 - 3-0 Scotland, McStay scored a peach from 30 yards. I learned via the national team Facebook page that it was exactly 30 years ago this week. Coincidentally I took my 6 year old lad to the Georgia game last week, which was his first Scotland game.
  17. Agreed, but wouldn't this also involve setting up some kind of wealth fund?
  18. Not sure if this has been posted, but it's worth a read... http://bellacaledonia.org.uk/2014/09/19/wipe-your-eyes-on-your-feet/
  19. Taking my young lad into football training this morning, there was a stream of buses coming off the M8 heading into the city centre.
