  1. this is gold....... "I wouldn’t dare to be so uncouth as to suggest Labour are f*cked but they’re hardly unf*cked either."
  2. I recently ate at Dawat Madhur Jaffreys restaurant in East Midtown (58th & 3rd I think) - it was spectacular and incredibly reasonable for NYC... for some reason couple of mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but as a lover of Indian food this place was on a different level from most I've tried. I still get a funny feeling when I remember the lamb which they prepare a couple of days in advance...
  3. I can't see any possibility they will get out of this league this season. Not a hope...
  4. how do you define a hate crime anyway - when it comes to murder there must be some dehumanisation of the victims ? maybe not, never tried it......
  5. looks like you are transparently trying to construct an argument that atheism is another kind of 'theism' and draw the conclusion religious belief is somehow morally equivalent. crimes against humanity are not conducted in the name of atheism. One nut with a gun doesnt change that. Terrible crimes are regularly carried out in the name of religion and justified by theology. Religious believers believe they are doing gods work. Religion is a special kind of evil and one brand is no different from another. God commits genocide in the bible, its not in the atheist mindset.
  6. yip.... FoS is a rebel song. "We can still rise now and be a nation again...." detested in the extreme by unionists. Until we are a nation we should continue to sing a song which shows our aspiration. this smacks of a unionist wheeze - they'd much prefer some twee p!sh about purple heather and mountains
  7. spend 10 bob and set up a limited company and open a business bank account. Since this is the consequence of an investment or advice you gave, you can claim it is payment to your company for consulting services. Then get a good accountant who will minimise your overall liability to around 20-25% tops...
  8. Don't care this is not a common room argument - the point is that most people know what a country is - most people would call Scotland a region - like Bavaria or Yorkshire..... I lived abroad for many years and the overwhelming majority of people who mention it think it is part of England. it has no legal or international status beyond that. We are a distinct cultural nationality of course but even that is disputed by a large number of people in Scotland who call themselves British..... Which is at least technically correct...
  9. its not intriguing at all. We have no status as a nation/country (choose your favourite word) except the pretend status given in UK political rhetoric and by the more misty eyed and wishful amongst us. The UK governments position is that we were 'extinguished' after the act of union and have become a constituent region of the UK - which is a country. Everything else is just bluster and semantics. We have no sovereignty, we have no power, we have a 'parliament' which has no sovereignty - it just runs the education, health and transport system for the real government - who retain all sovereign power. I struggle to think of any meaningful way in which we are a country in the sense that a country is a self contained political entity with control over its borders and relationships and treaties with other countries. It has to be a very weak re-definition of 'country' to call us a country - maybe you are thinking in the sense 'country music', 'country kitchen' but certainly not in the sense that Germany, Denmark or Iceland call themselves countries..... wishy washy nonsense.
  10. Just spent the evening with CM.... he loves Highland Park (and then some), he is funny and he loves the snp....... nothing to report......
  11. you can get into any word game you like but a region we are. If we were a member of the UN then we'd be a country.
  12. was at Spartans today... magic atmosphere, £12 quid to get in, more than 2500 fans... game a bit drab but more of this please. No armageddon here.
  13. Much as I wish it were so, it isn't .......... Scotland is not a country and Edinburgh is not a capital. look it up. We are a region of a country
  14. I think all future OF games should be played behind closed doors and each incidence of sectarian singing should result in a game played behind closed doors.
  15. he made 4 of the worst signings I've seen (ok maybe not the worst but bad anyway) - 4 strikers who before joining Killie had made 220 starts collectively resulting in 20 goals.... the turned out to be less prolific than that. just not smart - those 4 salaries would have kept Boyd at a the club.
  16. I dont agree.... you see the world in very black and white terms. All people lie, even you, politicians are no different. In the scale of political lying I think the SNP are successful because they dont lie in the way the Labour, LD and Tory parties have. War, economics, paedophilia, tuition fees, taxation etc. Many of these are cynical wilful lies or ommissions told to gain power for themselves. I think you would struggle to find a level on which the SNP have lied which is comparable to the press driven manipulation and lying by the police/westminster/press.. scale is important... as is ideology. The SNP are the only party with a clear principle they adhere to and will not sacrifice for a cheap turn in power. I dont know a single person in the SNP who wouldn't sacrifice personal gain in exchange for independence. It used to be like that for socialists.
  17. totally awesome way to clear out some of the under performing high earners... if these kids are fit then they have no chance of playing. Would imagine there will be some 'mutually agreed' contract terminations in a few weeks... mind you what young Rangers fan doesnt want a new Sports Direct replica with Gael Bigirimana on the back......
  18. hooooooooleeeeeeee shiiiiitttt ....... lending money means you can pick the team...
  19. he spent the whole referendum being a w@nk about the polls, constantly smugly repeating the phrase 'there is no room for complacency" every time No was ahead... in the light of the recent wave of polls it would be funny if he got lots of tweets to remind him. what goes around......
  20. he's not alone in the Labour Party - if they need to look at why they are so bankrupt then they need to ask why so many can't think of anything to say except waving their finger in rage and spluttering "you're all nazis"......... its pretty much the last resort of many of them and they are just showing they have no arguments left. They are dead.
  21. I think the only way to change behaviour is to get rid of this silly singing law but never allow Celtic v Rangers to be played in front of a crowd again. Should always be closed doors... there would not only be a positive effect on society but football could start to plan for the future it probably has with no real OF fixture like the old days, Rangers are not coming back competitively any time in the next 5-10 years..
  22. I would recommend the Co-pilot satnav app... it might seem in times when satnav is free that theres no point in paying £20quid... but it keeps maps on the phone, no connection problems, and no data roaming when I travel abroad.. I have changed phones about 5 times and only ever paid for it once, the account follows your phones - totally brilliant app...
  23. I am soooo disgusted with the Daily Record today. They did nothing but run Scotland down and stir up anti-Yes felling. They are partly responsible for the atmosphere in which this happened.....
