  1. Mulgrew will be needed for the Ireland games. We need good deliveries and a bit of brawn. He's not the best we have from open play but these will be 100 mile an hour and could come down to set pieces.
  2. I think we'd need more than that.
  3. I think we're need to defend well at set pieces. Whittaker and Greer are both good in the air.
  4. Regarding Steven Fletcher, we'll also need his height to defend corners. Another reason he should be in, especially with Hanley out.
  5. Don't agree. Fletcher can hold the ball up and has the touch and awareness to exploit space. Naismith will be a lot better with a bit more room. Better delivery from set pieces required though - so possibly Bannan for Maloney.
  6. These games are always awkward. We were miles better than them and they set out not to lose. I actually fancy we'll score a couple of goals in Poland. We're playing the right way and with a bit more room, the goals will glow. Fletcher is top class and maybe just lacking a bit of sharpness in front of goal, which will come soon enough.. I'm delighted we've got a player of his talent.
  7. Dorrans could be good for a home game. When he hits top form he's a match winner. Not as careful in possession as Bannan though.
  8. Apart from Snodgrass who would start, and a functional Forrest, who would certainly make the squad.
  9. I'd be happy with Dorrans or Bannan. Yes, all players can pass the ball 5-10 yards, but not all of them can pass it to a team mate while being closed down by two of the opposition. That's why Bannan gets a game. Simple as that.
  10. It just occurred to me that Anya might drop out with Robertson in the team. This would mean a midfield of Fletcher, Brown, Bannan, Morrison and Naismith with S. Fletcher up front. Not saying I approve, just saying.
  11. Gordon Durie scored a lot of important goals and gave us quite a threat away from home.
  12. Bannan's been superb for us. Those who don't see it need to brush up on their game.
  13. we need Hutton's pace in the team. He is one of those players who could probably produce an extra 10% if he could be bothered, but there you go.
  14. There's a big difference between a coach and a manager. He's never managed a team so let's see how he does when that happens. It was surely a big blow losing him from the performance schools but I hope his ideas are still in place.
  15. I think the mystery player didn't play. Ryan Fraser most likely, although Palmer is a possible.
  16. Watt would fall into the same category of a young player getting a taste for the squad. Watt has natural ability in abundance as well as pace and looking ahead he's got a lot of potential. There's an article this week in French quoting the Liege manager, who appears to be raving about him.
  17. Makes sense. Exciting times ahead!
  18. Mystery player could come from Cairney, Russell, M. Wallace or Fraser. If you're right about width could be Fraser. Strachan likes pace in the team.
  19. I'd much sooner have Watt than Rhodes. Too slow for international football is the bottom line.
