  1. It’s monumentally depressing that there are more people giving it the old whataboutery on this thread than there are calling them out for it.
  2. Without reference to the same stats for white, Asian and other ethnicities, those stats don't really tell us much other than showing that a conservative thinks that the breakdown of the family unit is responsible for society's ills. If those stats aren't reflected in the white community in particular then there are further questions to be asked about why black children are more likely to be brought up by a single parent than white children, or why that has a disproportionate effect on black kids compared to white.
  3. Scotland to begin phase one of lifting restrictions from a week today. All seems eminently sensible so far with numbers dropping consistently over the last three weeks and an estimated 25,000 infections in the country. "Roadmap" to lifting restrictions here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-framework-decision-making-scotlands-route-map-through-out-crisis/
  4. You're alright, your info was good as the club revealed them on social media a few minutes ago.
  5. Not much of a fan of the home top but the away one is a cracker.
  6. 'Yaaaas, mon the immune system". Folk are legitimately bonkers.
  7. It's ALWAYS been the UK government's plan to let the virus run its course in the most convenient way possible. They're perfectly content to let tens of thousands - if not hundreds of thousands - of people die as long as they don't all do so at once and "overwhelm" the NHS. There's space in the hospitals again so they want us out and about catching it again - that'll let the business owners make enough money to keep themselves going before they need to lock us down again.
  8. In general terms I couldn't agree more with hoping for something that blows our entire game apart. However, Rangers aren't doing this to revolutionise the game in everyone's favour, they're doing it for their own ends so any phoenix from the flames will look a lot like what we've already got. It'll never, ever happen but what's really needed is a complete burning down of the existing structure - including the teams themselves - and a brand new start with community-owned and led clubs starting from the ground up. And that goes for the game globally just as much as it does for Scotland.
  9. Would depend on the terms of the contract - ie do they run from season to season or from a specific date - but if we're not finishing this season until eg autumn 2020, they could get two leftover OF games from this season, plus the two from the 20/21 season, thereby giving them their four. Or the rest of Scottish football could grow a pair and get rid of this monotonous four games a season pish.
  10. It's the same tactic the employed successfully with the military during Iraq, Afghanistan etc. Canonise "the troops" so that any criticism of the government's involvement in war is twisted into having a go at the brave heroes on the front line.
  11. I'll try again on my phone rather than laptop when the kids are in bed and see if that makes me better or worse.
  12. Sorry, just realised that reads a bit like I was challenging you directly rather than the figures themselves which is what I was trying to do. It just strikes me as strange that so many outlets are doing so without also stating what seems to be obvious: if we aren't testing everyone with symptoms, and every government statement on the figures comes with the caveat "these are likely to be an under-estimate", then comparing the number of cases in the UK with anywhere else is guesswork at best.
  13. I know it’s been and asked already but is there any point whatsoever in comparing the number of cases from country to country? If everyone isn’t testing in the same way then it’s completely irrelevant.
  14. You're right, as well as being foreign sec he's the "first secretary of state" which makes him the highest ranking member of the cabinet. God help us!
  15. Dominic Raab is deputy PM, surely he'd take over if necessary?
  16. What about yer Wetherspoon's guy? Good to see him getting it tight today.
  17. I sell whisky, which is probably going to get a bit more difficult for the next few weeks/months.
  18. Certainly looks like the type of signing clubs of Aberdeen’s level should be trying to make. Young, already an international and looking for a platform to win a move down south so potential to make a bit of money on the deal.
  19. With you all the way up until polo fruits as I haven’t seen them in years and they’re not chewy enough. Fizzy cola bottles top the list for me. Actually, do you still get the cherry fizzy cola bottles? Used to spend my lunch money on a massive bag of them at least once a week!
