  1. A letter to the Herald noticed this: IF it wasn't so serious the concocted outrage and panic at the thought of Scots exercising their democratic right to vote for whomsoever they please would be a laughing matter. When the BBC can carry an on-screen banner of "SNP Threat" throughout a flagship UK-wide political programme any doubts of media bias fly out the window and when the SNP are in effect accused of "radicalisation" of schoolchildren any semblance of reason and balance quickly follow it. http://www.heraldscotland.com/comment/letters/snp-are-in-line-for-a-severe-shock.121838894
  2. Bosses' letter backing Tories fuels business battle http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32141412 Do Labour/Better Together campaigners recognise anything here?
  3. Labour are acting like they own Scottish voters http://www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2015/04/01/labour-are-acting-like-they-own-scottish-voters Includes comment on Jim Murphy's arguments on the Today programme today (when he silenced Jim Naughtie by asking him back when the last time the largest party didn't form a government)
  4. In terms of meaning of 'world class', would you say someone like Rino Gattuso was world class?
  5. ... when Dundee Utd and Aberdeen were taking on the likes of Roma, Barcelona, Real Madrid...
  6. But seriously (ish)... if you mean why are they different - why one is fixed date (any day of week) while the other is fixed set of days of the week.... - good luck with that one.
  7. isn't cameron's family from jura, and lord 'stone dead' robertson of islay? same genetic pool?

  9. Alex Massie's take on it http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2015/03/everything-yes-voters-believe-about-the-scottish-independence-referendum-is-wrong-but-that-doesnt-matter/ In short: Yes voters are deluded, but the Union could still be doomed.
  10. Mainstream politicians and media need to catch up with the fact that about half the country is already in the SNP/independence camp - cereal-eating husbands, wives, teenagers, partners and parents - normal everyday people who are all being targeted by all these fears and smears. There's no point trying to invent extremist demons in that camp which half the community simply won't recognise, or (if true) tolerate.
  11. As I've said before the Yes proportion is not bad going from rUK citizens - a 25% or 30% Yes is the traditional historic supposed level of independence support - that's a reasonable amount who'd be cutting themselves off from their homeland The alternative would be allowing Scots outwith Scotland to vote, and from what I've seen the staunchest anti-separationist Scots are those living south of the border who would see their families torn apart etc
  12. This was the guy whose argument was (something like) a third of you lot voted to leave three months ago, so you shouldn't have a say...?
  13. Alec Salmond Alec Salmond... who is this guy? they're trying to out-Alec Salmond each other!

  15. Seemed to me Dave got more deference - maybe as PM as much as anything else. Ed had a chance to show some fight. So Dave was like a dull no score draw. Ed a score draw. Net result zero.
  16. Well apparently according to the Independent, it's "Cameron vs Miliband TV debate - live" but but apparently it's not a debate (but it's apparently live).
  17. 9pm Channel 4 tonight apparently http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/generalelection/cameron-vs-miliband-tv-debate--live-10137036.html
  18. From Bolton. includes Jim Murphy , Janet Street-Porter, Leanne Wood (Plaid Cymru), Nicky Morgan (Tory), and Ukip immigration spokesman Steven Woolfe!
  19. So this report... the gist is some pro-indy group from Argyll & Bute are making accusations of postal vote rigging by MI5 etc. So... some questions are. - Didn't the fuss about Davidson and McTernan blow over last year - wasn't Humza Yousaf getting postal votes sample results too? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKihNnw8B_cIs What was the outcome of the police investigation? This must be a matter of record - Can someone confirm 96% really abnormally high and what are typical figures and what were the percentages for other areas (other than the 4 mentioned)? Maybe just 4 out of the whole of Scotland were abnormally high? - What is the significance of the lack of BBC exit poll? Are exit polls always routine at elections and always by the BBC and if that was normal practice didn't anyone notice they weren't being set up to do this? - Are the EMB hiding something or just have other things to do? Are there stats available from normal archives or freedom of information? - Apart from Argyll and Bute what is the view from all across the rest of Scotland? What's the official Yes Scotland view?
  20. BBC Scotland unveils party leader debate plans http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-32036630
  21. Secret enemy: Meet the shady group fighting the SNP http://www.politics.co.uk/comment-analysis/2015/03/23/secret-enemy-meet-the-shady-group-fighting-the-snp Meanwhile the Telegraph is now openly endorsing tactical voting: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/11489008/Parties-need-a-united-front-to-stop-Salmond.html?WT.mc_id=e_DM7114&WT.tsrc=email&etype=Edi_Pol_New&utm_source=email&utm_medium=Edi_Pol_New_2015_03_23&utm_campaign=DM7114 Parties need a united front to stop SalmondQuite an achievement, that - the Daily Torygraph is no longer unequivocally endorsing the Conservatives, but would urge you to vote Labour if necessary. 'Anyone but Salmond'
  22. I thought the standard rosette-wearing unit was the 'cabbage' - or maybe that's a lanarkshire thing
