Travel From Stadium To City Centre

Had a nightmare in March with a very overpriced and scary taxi driver so looking for advice on how to get back to round about Palace of Science and Culture by public transport after the game as dont fancy the 45 min walk!

Did see lots of Scots heading to a station near the ground so hoping that works for me too..................

Cheers

Can take metro/train or Tram.... word of warning with the tram, where it drops you off, you can either go left or right to get to the away section..... though going right looks the fasted way, it took us forever to get around the stadium, and going left would have taken us straight to the away area section of the stadium.

Would not recommend walking, as the stadium looks a lot closer to the city than it actually is.

Exactly the same happened with us - we'd asked the police and stewards and got no where, so like you, took what looked like the quickest way round ................ ended up cutting over the grass round the other side but seemed to be walking forever!

:yikes3:

We grabbed a taxi as walking or fighting crowds to station wasn't really on for one of our party.

Ours was cheap and quick and no problem so hopefully you just get a better driver this time!?

Have to say, train back into town after the game was surprisingly fast..... just seemed to be train after train after train, and we were probably back in the bar we had been in most the time we were in Warsaw just less than 30 minutes after the full time whistle.

Agreed, was a bit of a squeeze the carriage we were in.

Went to walk to the ground - failed as there was another boozer we hadn't been in, so got a taxi after a couple more drinks, traffic around the ground was horrendous.

Straight out the exit at the end of the game followed the sign top the station and back in centre in 8 minutes

What station does the train drop you at?

Central is the main one, but there was a underground stop at the main cross roads at that street through the heart of the city (one at Palace of Science where Metrolpol/Novotel/Polonia Palace is, as that is where we got off on the way back into town.

there is special buses too, and your match ticket allows you to use public transport for free

Its only a 20 minute walk to the centre, you come out the ground up over the bridge and head straight

Will there be ticket collection in Krakow? Don't want folk missing out on the free travel.

Shame on the SFA if the don't offer this service.

we went for a beer in a bar near the stadium until the polis closed it - then jumped in a taxi...

I'm sure it was your singing that brought the cops a knocking

What station does the train drop you at?

"Warszawa Stadion"

but you need to board not on Centralna Station (as this is intercity hub) but on Srodmiescie Station, which is local train station, adjacent to Centralna (easy underground passage, look for signs)

there are two kinds of trains serving that route (as well as Chopin Airport-city centre route): SKM trains (red-yellowy colour) or KM trains (yellow-green)
