Hanx
BBC have footage for 50th anniversary http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/41863003 I was aged -1 week at the time, but the story in my mind has always been one of Celtic's cynical treatment by the vicious Argies. Maybe the footage is selective, but a few of the Celtic players certainly didn't cover themselves in glory.

Maybe the footage is selective, but a few of the Celtic players certainly didn't cover themselves in glory. Racing Club's fans were as bad as the players. Throwing bottles, bricks and other missiles constantly at the Celtic players. Ronnie Simpson was hit on the head by an iron bar thrown from the crowd and had to be withdrawn. Whilst it doesn't excuse bad behaviour, It's understandable why several Celtic players ultimately snapped. The referee was a weak individual who let Racing get away with murder. John Fallon, who replaced Simpson, had the game of his life in goal for Celtic but had his runners up medal pinched by the infamous Bob Kelly who felt as chairman he deserved one. Ironic that if it had happened in subsequent seasons Celtic would've won on away goals and there would've been no need for the play off.
