Made the mistake (Not!) of heading to Cologne during the rail strike on the Saturday before the game. Meant spending an extra hour or two with locals on the train who enjoyed telling us all about real German life: Brilliant By the time we got to the city we were pretty thirsty and hungry as well so the Kolsch and (Dutch!) cheese rolls (forget what they were called ) went down a treat. Lots of old-style squares with tables, so would have been good to have done an overnighter.

On the other hand, I'd said to folk just before the referendum that win or lose, I couldn't imagine ever voting in a Westminster election ever again. Seemed pointless. Already though, I can't imagine not supporting my team. Even in a diddy cup.

I'd love an alliance, but then I am (to varying degrees) pro SNP, Green, SSP and Yes. I fear it would look less attractive to folk of different persuasions. For instance it's my opinion that the airtime Tommy was getting in the last week (which I enjoyed!) probably turned a lot of folk away from Yes. Just one of the elements might be enough to dissuade, and opponents would cherry pick.

While (I confess) I'm still paying the licence fee, I'll keep pounding their sports page for scores updates, and I'm listening to Sportsound now. Both free I know, but Mrs Grim is ben watching live TV. Without cable. we don't have the internet speed yet to legally stop paying.

Great thread this This bit is the most French thing I've ever read (especially in a really bad accent!) I get loads of abuse from my family for my celerasious inclinations, but luckily our local butcher does a great steak pie so I've never had to go so far as adulterating a steak pie.
