  1. Just found this qoute from his dad from 2019: Vata said: "Nobody in the Albanian FA ever contacted me. I know Scotland have watched him but the Irish association was the first to get in contact. "His granny is the happiest Irishwoman in Scotland. "People in Albania know through social media that he has been selected by Ireland. I believe many people are calling me names. "The fact of the matter is I love my country, I am proud to be an Albanian, I sacrificed myself so much for my country and I represented it with dignity. "That is my history. If Albania had been professional enough, shown some interest and done their homework right they would have recognised that this boy was playing for this club and they would have already contacted me. "They didn't show any kind of respect, desire or professionalism and, if they don't do that, he will never touch a ball for Albania." Despite those strong words, the 59-times-capped player insisted his son would make up his own mind about where his future lies as he will not be tied to Ireland any time soon. Vata said: "I was proud to play, and captain, my country all the way up. But I cannot dictate his decision. The most important thing is the boy is free to decide with his heart and mind. "Anything can happen in the future but at the beginning it is Ireland who have been in touch and shown interest and respect. "It's the boy's decision. If he asks me what the best option is, I can say my opinion but I cannot interfere.
  2. Grandmother on his mother's side is Irish according to Wiki. Feels an odd one, you'd have assumed he'd be playing for us or Albania
  3. Harrison Ashby playing for Newcastle Academy today after coming back from injury and gets on the scoresheet. Fraser also scores with an assist from Ashby
  4. Thought with Coleman injured that Patterson might start today but Dyche has gone for Godfrey as he said he’s got more match fitness
  5. Also, I’m not Hanley’s biggest fan but this Norwich defence look very shaky without him.
  6. The way Clarke plays friendlies though it'll likely be our strongest side with one maybe two players thrown in.
  7. I think it's a bit too early to suggest that.
  8. I thought he'd have brought Brown on for his pace to try get Spain on the break but I would say Shankland is better at holding up the ball than Brown and a bit more physical.
  9. Between now and the end of the season it'll be interesting to see how Conway does. I did worry that he'd come back from injury and that early season goalscoring form would just be flash in the pan so it's great to see him scoring on his return.
  10. Haven't seen him play since Wilder took over and they moved to a 3, but I watched him about 3 times playing in a back 4 and he looked very solid
  11. He's probably in for a tough time between now and the end of the season but he just needs to knuckle down and try impress the manager as much as he can in training and there's a good chance one of if, if not both Caicedo & Mac Allister leave in the summer. A bit of adversity should put him in good stead for the future. Remember when Robbo went to Liverpool and he couldn't even get on the bench for the first few months? It was only because Moreno got injured and he came straight in with top performances that he cemented himself as first choice
  12. Jevan Beattie, son of Craig Beattie, is training with Brighton's U23 side.
  13. I must say I've seen a lot of videos from the other night and I've only seen Brown celebrating like the rest, haven't seen any apparent sulking?
  14. BBC reported they were in talks with him, which makes sense given he ended up at Watford
  15. Yeah the game guaranteed a home playoff and one of the danish players afterwards said they struggled with the atmosphere. Need something similar tonight. At times on Saturday it felt like we were playing a friendly both on the pitch and with the atmosphere in the ground
  16. Problem was, especially in the second half, no one made any runs ahead of him so whenever he got the ball he’d have 2 defenders in front of him. On the left side you had tierney, Robbo and Armstrong all exchanging passes whereas on the right side you had Porteous who came forward a bit but not as much as Tierney and then McGinn who was staying very central for the most part. I’ve watched him play on the right for Brentford a few times and he’s always looked very comfortable
  17. The English Championship is a bizzare division. I’ve been watching quite a few of the games on sky since the new year and it varies in quality drastically game to game even sometimes from the same team. One week a team will be playing fluid flowing football the next they’re hoofing it and all the goals are a scrappy mess.
  18. I wasn’t keen on him being picked at first but he’s in the squad now and wants to play so if he’s picked then I’ll cheer him on as much as the rest
  19. Yeah Robertson's dad & grandad both played for Australia so we were never really on the cards
  20. I personally think Hyam is better than Hanley but Clarke seems to rate Hanley and can't see him throwing Hyam straight in. I think we should go with a back 4 against Cyprus but have a feeling Clarke will go with Porteous Hanley Tierney in a 3
  21. I have to laugh at recent interviews from national team managers, first Southgate and now Mancini complaining about the 'limited' pool of players they have to pick from in their respective country's top divisions.
  22. Surprised Ralston wasn't already in given the doubts over Patterson. Glad to see Hyam finally get called up. I work with a Blackburn fan and he's always singing his praises.
