  1. Not quite mate Just hoping there would be some respect shown regarding a manager who, despite his many flaws, was also a passionate Scotland supporter himself.
  2. Scott Gemmill would be a good choice. Let's face it, any appointment is going to be risky... I'd give Scott a crack at it. He's worked with the players on the verge of progressing to the senior squad so he would have a big advantage over every other candidate. And we are all looking at building a senior squad out of the youth squads, are we not? I would give him a target of qualifying for the next World Cup rather than the Euros. Give him a chance to build a capable squad without all the unnecessary pressure that comes with unrealistic expectations. And make this known to the press and fans. After getting rid of Strachan we are probably going to fall behind again, so better make an appointment with the future in mind.
  3. To everyone posting negative comments here- this thread is for thanking Gordon Strachan. If you don't want to thank him then don't. Just leave.
  4. Griffiths goals against England and the goal against Slovakia at Hampden - absolutely amazing! Moments I will forever look back on with pure delight in my heart and a big cheesy grin on my face. Thank you, Gordon Strachan ?
  5. I'm gutted! Still, I will support whoever takes over and the players they pick. C'mon Scotland!
  6. That's what I think should happen too - sink the pitch and continue seating down to pitch side, get rid of the running track. Hampden is an iconic name in world football stadia, and moving the Scotland national team from it should never be up for consideration. End of!
  7. That paints a picture. Appreciate the effort you've put in to supporting the team... for your service to the nation even. And I hope you get to go and watch Scotland in the next Euros. Atb mate
  8. He was close enough for me to believe he's as good a person as any to be at the helm. Plus, ever heard of 3rd time lucky? What was Alex Fergusons record at Man Utd before he done anything that could be regarded as successful? Didn't he preside over a shambles initially?
  9. I agree he stayed loyal to those who were loyal to him. But some players did say they only wanted the result for Scotland regardless of whether or not they were on the pitch. Pushing others for places. To be there if needed. To help the nation. To have Scotland in a major finals is what Strachan appeared to have sewn into the consciousness of the squad. He could bring in new players and count on the current ones to push them to give maximum effort. He needs another campaign to deliver what we all want- a Scotland team full of nutters ready to die for each other- for us! ?✊️
  10. Allardyce?... No, but thanks for the offer. Strachan to stay for Euro qualifying campaign with Gemmill as his assistant. Gemmill to then take over for next World Cup qualifying campaign.
  11. That the current squad couldn't push it over the finish line is proof plenty. More competition for places needs to be the focus. And with us falling just shy of the mark again this campaign, he'd be far more easily forgiven for promoting some of the U21's. Just as importantly though, the culture of togetherness he's formed in the national team needs to be maintained and Strachan has got that side of things well and truly in the bag. Who's to say that our players wouldn't lose faith in the national setup if Strachan were to be pushed. They seem genuinely loyal to him.
  12. If Strachan were to be given another campaign I'd doubt he'd be as risk averse as he was in this one. Be far more adventurous in the friendlies. Build strong foundations for the campaign after next. He knows we need both new blood and results, and probably actually needs to lean more towards new blood than the results. Which would piss off a lot of the TA.
  13. I really like it too, but the white sleeves need to go as they too often force us to wear our away shirts. And pink should never EVER be on a Scotland strip again! Our away strip should be all white - give England and FIFA a well deserved headache.
  14. Well, I did say I was just trying to bring some balance to the force. Of course he's made some bad decisions, but good ones too. I just don't feel that the situation is so desperate that we need to change our manager. I'd like him to continue with the improvements he's made. And to correct his errors too. No offence taken - I'm not an employee of the SFA. Just another long suffering victim of the SFA.
  15. Just covering my back in case someone thinks I was trying to imply something sinister
  16. I guarantee I'm neither Hun nor Tim! No offence to either religion.
  17. By the way, Blur are shite. ?
  18. Yep, I'm a Hibby. But Scotland is a whole other dimension when it comes to being a supporter. It's weird. You're right about how it shouldn't mean so much. The feeling when Griffiths 2nd free kick went in is something I can't recreate. The only chance I'll ever have of getting that feeling again is to continue going to Scotland games. Cheers pal
