  1. We just need to have the same mentality as we did last night in the 3 upcoming qualification games and we'll be fine. Anything we get in Spain will be a huge result but the key thing is we must go into the Georgia game on the front foot and controlling the midfield like we've done recently. We just need to look at our own performances and results and if we do that then we'll be fine.
  2. If we do qualify then it would be fantastic to get at least 2nd pot seeding as so many good teams in there. Remember that the 3 play-off qualifiers go into Pot 4 and I'd fancy out chances against any of them. I know qualifying is the main aim but it would be a nice bonus to know that we're not going to get a group of death as well!
  3. I'm usually much more nervous about ties like this and I think that says a lot about how Steve Clarke and the players have changed perceptions over the past 4 years. I still think it'll be tricky but I also think we have the quality and belief in the squad to get the 3 points. I also agree with the posts about this being a really vital game because a win tonight and Norway know they'll need to win all their remaining games to have any chance of catching us.
  4. Read a report that seedlings for the Group Stage next summer are based on points gained in the qualifiers so we have a really good opportunity to get as high as possible. Also, I was listening to a podcast last night and they had a Norwegian journalist on who said there's a bit of tension in the Norwegian dressing room about how many games Haaland has missed. I think we might see him miss a few more now that qualification is looking less likely. Hopefully something else that will play into our hands as couldn't cope needing a result in the final game against them at Hampden.
  5. If you look at the squad we have and what leagues they play on then it gives some confidence. Obviously it would be great to have a players like Haaland but there's a reason why Norway haven't been qualify for major tournaments in recent years. A draw would be an excellent result and if we win it, then we we're as good as qualified.
  6. Interesting story of TV rights for the Women's World Cup that Fifa president Gianni Infantino has threatened to not broadcast it in five European countries unless TV companies improve their rights offers. Infantino said European broadcasters had offered world football's governing body $1m-$10m (£800,000-£8m) for the rights, compared with $100m-$200m for the men's World Cup. For me this is a reality check for the women's game in the same way as we get with the SPFL and Scottish National team. Broadcasters will only pay what the product is worth and I think a lot of people are reluctant to criticise women's football in case they are accused of sexism.
  7. Maybe getting carried away but never a better chance to get something against Spain. Even a point would put us in a great position given the Norway result against Georgia.
  8. VAR overturned Norway penalty award in 99th minute!
  9. Norway obviously have a couple of class players but no strength in depth. Think it might come down to home and away results against them although I wouldn’t put my house on us to win in Georgia.
  10. Sheffield Utd fans have McBurnie as their MOTM on the forums today. If he keeps playing like this then he has to get another chance in the national team imo. It’s not like we’re blessed with goalscorers.
  11. They have Bale who can change a game and we don’t have a player anywhere near that. Once he retires then they’ll be a completely different side. I’m still annoyed about the lack of intensity we showed on Wednesday and it played totally into their hands. I’m really not sure why Clarke thought that was the best tactic but there you go.
  12. Jack has been outstanding considering how long he’s been out. If he stays fit then he should definitely be in the squad
  13. Adam’s is playing really well at the moment. In fact, Southampton have been pretty good all round.
  14. Quite glad Wales made it into the seedlings as if they hadn’t, I wouldn’t want them at Hampden as I actually think they’re a decent side now. Bit like Scotland in that they’re quite a tight unit and I’ve got a feeling it would turn into a scrappy game and home advantage would go out of the window. We’ve also got a terrible record against them over the last 10 or so years. I’d take Austria or North Macedonia now.
  15. Can’t see Turkey winning by 4 against Montenegro but I’m a bit worried about Wales vs Belgium. Belgium are missing quite a few key players and Wales are a decent side at home. Just hope Martinez starts KdB and his best 11 and that they are up for it. Really excited for the game at Hampden tonight though. As long as we don’t sit off them and show too much respect like we did against Croatia in the Euros then I think we have a chance - we need to be on it from kick off and try to unsettle them.
  16. Fair play to Serbia to go to Lisbon and win it though. Especially after the start Portugal had
  17. That’s not good. Wouldn’t really fancy us home or away against them. I know they’ve not been great but just looking at their squad they could be a match for any team of their day.
  18. Looks like we’ll still need to win tomorrow now. Was hoping Spain might runaway with this but we’re now relying on Wales losing and the Turks not scoring too many. If that happens then a draw for us would still be ok.
  19. I’ve actually got a good feeling about the game because: 1. They have a number of key players missing and they don’t need a result so I don’t think they’ll be anywhere near as good as they can be. 2. It’s a home game that’s sold out so if we can get on the front foot early on then we have a real chance. 3. The side is becoming more and more like a club side now in that everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing and getting more and more comfortable with the set up. 4. We’re due a good result at Hampden against a higher ranked side. 5. John McGinn!
  20. Really poor goal for Russia to concede but Croatia have been the better side. Wouldn't want Russia away! But then again, wouldn’t want Croatia either so doesn’t really matter
  21. That’s a huge risk imo. I think we need to play our full strength team regardless and keep the momentum going. it’s an interesting one though. Would you prefer an away tie in the semis with a full squad to choose from or a home tie with some of our key players suspended?
  22. I seem to be in a minority but I quite like Crocker and McCoist on the commentary.
  23. At the moment we’re sitting 5th in the 2nd place seedings and there’s actually 3 groups that should definitely be below us if we can beat the Faroes and Moldova and confirm 2nd place so it’s looking quite positive just now.
  24. Yes, focus on tomorrow and look to get the points as there will be twists and turns in the other groups. At the moment we need Poland to win or draw against Albania on Tuesday and England to beat Albania at Wembley (by 3 or 4 would be nice) in November. It would also be beneficial if Germany and Belgium win their remaining games as well. it look likely that Portugal/Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia Groups will all be seeded so it leaves us to fight out for the remaining 2 seeded slots. At the moment the Ukraine & North Macedonia groups look almost certain to have 2 of the 4 unseeded teams so providing we can beat the Faroes tomorrow, we will have a decent chance of being seeded and any points against Denmark should seal it for us.
  25. Good quote from Tom English about Dykes and his penalty taking… What was it about Dykes' penalty-taking that made Ofir Marciano stand his ground and make an easy save as the striker attempted to drill it down the middle? Was it the penalty that Dykes put down the middle against Austria last month? Or the one he put down the middle for QPR against Rotherham last November? Or the one he put down the middle against Coventry last September?
