I wasn't arguing that the display in Tbilisi wasn't the main reason for our not qualifying in this campaign but on a broader scale winning home games is vital too. If you look at WC 2014; had we beat Wales, Serbia and Macedonia at home never mind Belgium we would have made the play offs ahead of Croatia also. Of course, we might still have Levein as our manager; so there's always a downside.

At the start of any campaign one thing is nearly always true; win all your home games and the rest takes care of itself. I'm too lazy to go through all those campaigns but I'm pretty sure that too may have seen us qualify for the majority of them although admittedly it is the bigger ask at times.

It's hard to pick a particular highlight; I suppose the fact that we are sixth in the 2015 placings is an achievement in itself. We came out of 2014 in bad shape and looked to be heading for relegation or a play off spot but began to change things around and ended the season in 8th place and with the 4th best goal difference in the league. This season we have lost a lot of good players with Stephen O'Donnell perhaps being the biggest miss, along with Scott Fox, Conrad Balatoni, Kallum Higginbotham as well as Lyle Taylor. All of whom were big players for us but Tomas Cerny is a better keeper than Fox, Dumbaya has fitted in well in the right back position and Liam Lindsay is proving himself more capable in defence than Balatoni ever was. We still lack a creative game changer like Higginbotham could be, but perhaps we will find one this month. The team is stronger and more resilient than in the past and less likely to leak goals late in the game; in 2014 we had a total of 14 shut outs which is quite a lot for a bottom half team. So here's to an even better 2016 starting with a win at Parkhead.

How Many Scots In Your Team?
the Sunnylaw Jag replied to stocky's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
At Firhill, it's normally around 6 or 7 with Booth, Lindsay, Bannigan, Lawless, Welch and Doolan all starting, however it can be supplemented with Fraser, Scully and others coming in too. Muirhead is departing after tomorrow and Stevenson is currently with Ayr United. -

Of course it could have been worse they could have had their hand down the front of them and then sniffed it when they withdrew it from down below. -

F*** Christmas

Yeah I hate the fact that they don't give us advance notice of Christmas; they just wait until the shops are at their busiest and then whoosh It's Christmas. -

The last time Wenger signed a Scot in a transfer, the player did very well for him.

Spfl Trivia
the Sunnylaw Jag replied to Fairbairn's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
That's cause Thistle don't get penalties. 55 games and counting and Doolan missed the last one.
