Hendry did also play ninety minutes of a cup game for Brugge before he left but, aye, it would have been better if he had played five or six full games before joining the squad. I do think there is a some talent there in Porteous but he needs to get a grip on the obvious issues he has with impulsiveness and anger management. He got taken off injured at half-time on Saturday. Might have just been a precaution but no word on his availability yet.

I know he's uncapped but I would have brought Dominic Hyam in to replace Hanley.

Twenty years ago players like Neil McCann and Jackie McNamara used to be the first to be blamed if either of the Old Firm lost a game. Today they are spoken of as club legends. You really cannot win with some Old Firm fans.

Would be good to have some updates on Craig Gordon and Tommy Conway's fitness. Gordon was clearly injured but played on near the end of the Hearts game and Conway was subbed at half time after a collision with the opposition goalkeeper.

Tommy Conway suffered a head injury after colliding with the Burnley goalkeeper today and was subbed at half time. Let's hope it's all just a precaution.

McCann is not a Scot.

Craigie Broon had falling outs with Richard Gough, Jim Leighton, Andy Goram and Jackie McNamara that saw them all bombed out the team. Leighton and McNamara were able to patch things up with Broon and were back in his squad. Andy Roxburgh never picked Frank McAvennie again after he refused a call up for a friendly. Correct decision, and McAvennie's career went into sharp decline shortly afterwards.

Hyam would be the best replacement for Hanley as they are both right footed players. If someone like McKenna (left footed) pulls out then McIntyre is the ideal replacement. Hyam did say in an interview only last year that he would love to play for Scotland, so it's good to know he's keen.

Throwing this one out there for the boards bears fans. Did van Bronckhorst actually want to sign Davies and Yilmaz or did someone at Rangers go over his head and sign them without his consent ?

A mere youthful thirty three ! I get what you mean though, he was in the spotlight as "one to watch" since he was a teenager. Seem to remember him and Zander Diamond had a bizarre conversation about the Pope's visit to Scotland on social media that got leaked to the press 😄

If any strikers have to withdraw from the senior squad then bump up Conway from the U21s. The lad is banging them in !
