  1. So in your opinion Rice didnt think of himself as Irish despite him playing 20 times for their non full international teams and then a further 3 times for their full team? So Che Adams couldnt have nailed his colours to the English mast as he only played for England U20s twice. Matt Targetts fine as he has only played 22 times for England unders and 5 times for Scotland unders so he must still be allowed to have not made his mind up yet.
  2. Declan Rice? He played full international for ROI. Did he pin his colours to the ROI mast then? Not even up for debate because im pretty certain most would disagree.
  3. International football where the rules are in line with the original posters comments but not your own. So he probably does realise what football he is talking about.
  4. I truly believe that the club as a whole believe in youth development. They came out a while back twlking about one of the bits of the business model going forward was developing players then selling. The problem comes when they task any manager with developing these prospects but at the same time having to win each and every game. Even the treble has become such a huge thing now that the league cup isnt even a competition where you would play some youth regardless of opposition. I remember Arsenal years ago in a 2 leg league cup semi final against Spurs and they fielded an entire team of prospects who had won the earlier rounds. They got humped if I remember correctly but the players included the likes of Fabregas. That just simply wouldnt be tolerated at Rangers. As a manager its a hard 1. During the transfer window you are always asking for more. So if you get the option if Aaron Ramsey you are defo gonna take it. Once he is in the door then you cant not play Ramsey but play Lowry. Its the same across the entire squad. Just look at GK. McGregor and McLaughlin were bith out for the 1st old firm game. McCrory played and did well. But theres no chance Rangers go a full season with him as the back up.
  5. Following the trend up short termism in football. How is a manager meant to turn around a club in 4 months. Especially when the club sells its best forward player and then its next best gets injured for the rest of season.
  6. I cant see him getting much game time for Rangers. He came in, got motm in the cup game. Got understandably put back on the bench for the next game when the 1st team players came back but got on after 8 mins when Hagi got injured. Got motm again and has pretty much not been used since in any meaningful capacity. Id rather he went to a club where 1st team football was a possibility. Almost like Hickey where he wasnt auto 1st pick but it was certainly possible. If he isnt going to get regular game time id rather that was at Newcastle than Rangers though.
  7. Im talking about moments where VAR would have been used / useful. Ive only seen the winning Rangers goal a couple of times but the angles shown looked borderline offside to me. VAR wouldnt have changed Lundstrum decisions. That was just poor refereeing. Refs performance all round yesterday was very poor.
  8. The winner was possibly offside. The handball, which shouldnt have been given was possibly inside the box. Im not sure what the rules are with handball. Is it where the ball is or the player. Barasic foot was on the line so therefor inside the box. That would make any part of the ball at least close to being the same. At the other end Celtic had a 1 on 1 that was yards offside but player pulled it wide.
  9. Celtic were really off the pace today. No urgency, composure or quality. As a neutral I can say that the refs performance was awful. No idea how Lundstrum avoided a booking. He had 2 or 3 fouls that could have been bookings on their own and also blatantly stopped the GK kicking the ball by putting a foot up which is pretty much an auto yellow.
  10. Packed? There was about 3 entire sections of the hibs stand behind the goal empty along with large parts of the south stand almost the entire south stand upper.
  11. I think its more likely than not that there are aliens out there. I can stretch to believe that they have made contact / landed on earth. In such a situation I can totally understand why a government would initially keep it a secret however what I cant understand is why it would still be a secret decades later. There would be little to no benefit of keeping it a secret now. In fact news of aliens would likely benefit ecconomies etc as it would give the human race a booster to explore and gain knowledge etc.
  12. Hickey reguarly playing and playing well at RWB in Italy. Cant help be impressed by the young man. Travelling to another country, coping and thriving during the pandemic. Playing in a top league week in week out and now doing it in a couple of positions. Would be surprised if a top 5 club in one of the big leagues arent looking at him for the summer.
  13. Its sad that Hibs / Hearts cant fill hampden for a Scottish Cup semi final. Surely each club could sell 23k for a derby semi final.
  14. Defoe did retire. I was just talking about the type of strikers Rangers have had since Moreles signed. None of them have been similar in style to Moreles. They have either been penalty box players like Roofe, Itten and Defoe or more pacey like Sakala. Imo Rangers need a strong physical striker as backup to Moreles or even to put on as a plan B when team sit really deep. Not sure if Stewart fits that mould or not. Rangers have a really exciting youth striker, Wilson but I think he will move south before any real chances in the 1st team. Much like Doak at Celtic going to Liverpool. Rangers attitude to youth is shocking. I cant for the life of me think why Scott Wright would get on last night before somebody like Alex Lowry. Wright has pace but does nothing with it. Lowrys compsure and abilty on the ball is much more like Ramsey who was coming off. No surprise to me that Rangers loat control of the game when Wright came on.
  15. Might be the type of player Rangers need as backup to Moreles. Not seen alot of him though so im presuming that he is abit more physical than the likes of Roofe, Itten, Salkala and Defoe
  16. All this talk of war as the reason Boris shouldnt resign. We arent at war. The war is certainly of interest to us but our involvement extends to supplying weapons and some training. Nothing that any PM couldnt do. Im surprised more opposition politicians arent highlighting this.
  17. For me Odonnell hasnt been shite for Scotland. He has done a very solid job at rwb. Theres a difference between his performances and his ability. He has played well, done what he is good at and to a certain extent relied upon others in the team to make up for his weaknesses. By that I mean that he isnt particuarly good going forward but our left hand side is very strong and McGinn has been excellent offensively. As a stand alone player his ability isnt great but thats not how football works. What I would say is that continuing to play with players like Odonnell will only take us so far and I feel like we have reached that stage now. If we want to be reguarly competing with top 20 teams then we need to be good defensively and offensively across the team. Having Patterson at RWB means teams cant concentrate on just our left hand side. That makes every part of our team more dangerous. Potentially it also makes us more vulnerable defensively but hopefully that will be a short term thing as Patterson develops.
  18. But for that to happen it would have to be shown that Rangers were to blame. Ie lack of stewarding or police etc. There is no strict liability in Scottish football so all the things people are calling for to happen cant.
  19. He probably is out until next season but theres loads of surgerys that happen nowadays where players are out for weeks rather than months. This wasnt a result of a challenge or something that stopped Tierney in his tracks. It was a niggle that they have decided to tidy up. Could be as simple as removing or trimming some damage. You would be talking 6-8 weeks max for something like that.
  20. Well done. The reason I was asking and making the point as we all find it all too easy to condeem other clubs but less quick to condeem our own clubs. Fan behaviour in general needs clamped down on in football. Im all for creating a good, even hostile atmosphere but that should never include anything that could harm a player or audible support of prescribed terrorist organisations.
  21. So you have accepted that Celtic fans have thrown and hit opposition players with objects at at least 2 games recently. The Rangers game happening on several occasions. So do you think Celtic as a club should be punished with fines, section or ground closures or docked points? It seems from my reading of your posts that Rangers should be punished as a club aswell as the individuals responsible but Celtic it should just be the individuals?
  22. I think it would depend on who is available at CB. For example I dont see Clarke putting Cooper on the bench and playing Taylor / Hickey at LWB just to keep Tierney there. Longer term I think Hickey will make the LWB back up his own and probably get quite abit of game time. He seems like the kind of sub who could come on to shore up the defence. Only issue with that is it would mean taking off the captain.
  23. He defo has a very different style to Robertson and Tierney at LWB. Robertson is all about energy, he tends to get the ball, pass it into a forward and then make the run to receive the ball back. Tierneys style is more to take the man of himself, normally by dropping a shoulder and knocking the ball into space behind. Maybe Hickey was just playing it really safe and finding his feet but he had several opportunities to go at the full back but didnt look like he even considered it. Im not sure what his pace is like. He certainly doesnt look slow. As you say, he defo looked like he employs a more possession based approach.
  24. My apologies if you did condem it but I cant remember anybody calling for Celtic to be punished. Theres not alot of difference between a glass bottle and a coin in terms of potential damage. I cant stand fans who throw stuff at football. Should be so easy to identify and ban but clubs only seem to take action on rare occasions. Its going to end up with somebody seriously injured and for nets to be placed around the pitch like in some foreign grounds which lessens the matchday experience for good fans. Rangers fans are by far and away the worst in Scotland in my opinion. Their behaviour / attitude / mindset is encouraged by the club. One thing that the Old Firm identified ages ago is that seige mentality sells though so dont expect anything to change anytime soon.
