  1. 😂😂 , straight to the play off connotations. Love your optimism.
  2. Remember we dont all live in the home counties 😉
  3. Thst is exactly what I mean. You had the intelligence to work out that the two should be kept separate. Unfortunately a large percentage of the support dont, hence the situation we are in. What kind of people sing en masse about hating the support of their country’s football team ? If there is one thing that brings football together it should be supporting your national team. And its just not gullible people who get sucked into this. I work with a Rangers supporter who used to come to a lot of the Scotland games with us. He brought his son who was about 18. This was about 15 years ago. The son now would never be near a Scotland game , he is utter staunch, and my colleague never comes as his son feels the way he does. They are both educated people . I just cannot fathom this sort of mentality at all.
  4. Exactly what I was thinking 😕 Still have nightmares of that away game in 2007.
  5. I dont think its a coincidence that OF firms who also support Scotland are generally decent people. They are not blinkered to the sectarianism that prevents others from seeing themselves as Scottish first, and not British or Irish. I can believe there was a reasonable percentage of Rangers fans supporting Scotland 10 or so years ago. I would however be really surprised if there is such a high percentage now .
  6. I have huge respect for the Rangers fans still on here, and absolutely not in some sort of patronising way. It seems you are classed as some sort of traitor by many Rangers fans to be both a Rangers and Scotland fan . Takes a bigger person to rise above shite like that than succumb to the pressure. I am not really sure when they became a pariah by supporting both club and country, Indy ref will definitely have enhanced the divide but I dont remember politics ever having much of an impact in the past. I dont imagine Rangers fans were falling out with each other pre Indy ref if one was Labour and the other Tory. It was probably never even discussed in football chat. Politics should be kept to political debates and not sport. I think this board is pretty good at that. Politics seems to get closed down pretty quickly in the football threads and so it should, unless its something to do with a football issue of course. I dont buy the the excuse that Rangers fans get a hard time on here. People like Fairbairn more than hold their own and clearly command respect, there is absolutely no reason why Rangers fans cant be welcomed on here. It’s a pity because, as you say, the mix of personalities is what keeps things interesting
  7. I still cant work out if you are genuine or at it , think I will bang on every door of the street that backs onto McTeeko’s park till I find a Malcolm look-alikee waving a Ukraine flag and sporting a picture of Thatcher on their hall sideboard. 😁 Either way I think you are ok. Dont agree with the vast majority of your politics but , like a lot of people, pretty sure we all probably have more in common than we think.
  8. Only read this after making a similar point on the indy ref thread. Totally agree.
  9. It wont do anything but it allows them to tick a box to say they have tried something whilst the government pretend nothing is happening.
  10. It has fallen across the board. Bank of England has announced this morning it will temporarily buy long dated bonds and delay quantitative easing in order to ‘restore orderly market conditions’ Cue Sterling to automatically lose another cent against the usd and euro.
  11. 👍 Exactly . It may also force unnecessary yellow or red cards. It wasted a bit of time for us last night but that is not the purpose and IMO there are more risks than benefits to be gained.
  12. Cannot say anything other than what has already been said. Absolutely brilliant week to be a Scotland fan. Cannot remember the last time I saw us playing so consistently especially with so many players injured. I dont think it can be underestimated how important it is to now have this depth. Looked like a great away support too. Pretty jealous not to be there even in the pishin rain. On the game, wtf is the point of this offside rule that is not flagged immediately? It was ridiculous the number of times it was happening when Ukraine were attacking, which I suppose is testament to how well our defence played. But it is an utter shit rule. Can someone explain the supposed benefits of it , being a woman I don’t understand why it is necessary 🙂
  13. I just responded to one of his posts in the TA section then had a look on here, I very rarely read this section. That’s the first thing I thought too reading through this thread 😂
  14. 😂 I am not sure singing someones name to the tune of a Muppets song is a huge compliment, but it does work . It’s a bit chirpier than Bonnie Tyler too.
  15. The McGinn song is simple and works. Singing about England doesnt bother me at the right time, as a filler when we are comfortable in the game, they do the same to us, but I cant really see what value it brings to the team at the start of a match. It was a pretty good atmosphere last night for most of the time. Usually when its a Saturday night game its starts off noisy but slowly deteriorates as folk sober up , especially if we are playing bad. But it was fairly loud for most of the game. Yeah, pretty nervous for Tuesday too. But I think we will do ok so long as we dont lose key players due to injury.
  16. I didnt even hear that one . There was a song I had never heard but could not work out what it was , I think i would have remembered if it was the Rotterdam tune. There was clearly a missed opportunity during covid to have a zoom party to learn all these new songs…. Only heard doh a deer once last night which must be a record during games that we are not getting pumped in.
  17. I do too but we dont seem to have a vast back catalogue of songs or lyricists . Well done to whoever came up with the McTominay song, its quite a feat to create something from a name with 4 syllables that 50k people can sing 🙂 I was a bit pissed off with all the England songs at the start. I would happily bawl out songs about their demise when we are winning a game comfortably, but it was quite nervy and felt it would have better to sing about our own team for encouragement . It stopped for a while after Ireland scored. I doubt anyone else cared right enough 😊
  18. They were definitely rattled at the end . We were the ‘ time wasting corner’ and it was brilliant 😂 So ‘not Scotland’.
  19. Agree. Over the 90 mins I think we edged it. Too many expected the same as Wednesday night but Ireland were more prepared for us. I would have played Adams instead of Dykes but no harm in the end. Job got done.
  20. 😡😡 Watch it you two 🧔🏻🪓🧔🏻🔫
