He will be in a while as he has been waiting for stents to be fitted for a few months. Looks like he will now need open heart surgery. In a way Covid is the least of his problems as he is dealing with prostate cancer as well and was due to start chemo. But yes, if he can get the vaccine whilst he is in there it removes one potential danger. I was speaking to my aunt who is in her mid 70’s, my Uncle has had a heart attack and in hospital and she is clearly worried about that and the chance he may get covid. We were talking about covid generally and I tried to reassure her that hopefully they will get vaccinated soon. She then said that she didnt think she would take the vaccine as one of her friends who is a retired nurse says the vaccine will be very risky and it hasnt been tested properly. She may be a retired nurse, and she may be right, who knows, but I doubt she has any more knowledge on the subject than anyone on here. My aunt trusts her as she is a friend and worked in the medical profession but I think its pretty irresponsible to be scaremongering like that without clear evidence. I doubt she is the only one.

Can you imagine the backlash if Scotland had kept pubs closed through the summer when England was re-opened ? No one looks to see what Ireland is doing, we are still far too connected to England both physically and mentally. The sooner we get independence to make our own decisions the better. I am not saying they will always be right but people will gradually move away from this notion that we need to keep in line with England.

Still on series 1 of The West Wing, its growing on me a bit but I cant see me ever desperate to catch up on it, think it will be a bit of a filler. All the characters walking about corridors talking fast gives me a headache. I tend to watch it at the weekend and if I have had more than 1 large glassof wine I lose the plot completely. I have noticed as I get older my concentration is diminishing rapidly. I will soon be on reruns of Bill and Ben. Funnily enough in This is Us its the time hopping I like most. I think thats what keeps it interesting for me. I seem to be able to keep up with that okay.

I used to be able to, albeit it was very limited, but now any time I try to post a pic it is telling me I am exceeding the size. All I ever try to post are pics from my iphone. I realise that restrictions need to be placed on this particular issue but everything I try to post is too big. Any reason why ?

I can see both sides to this. The folk breaking the rules would have broken them anyway. Its easy for people who have family at home to say its a ridiculous decision, but there are lots of people on their own and regardless of what some people think, Christmas is a special day for a lot of folk. This could give people a phycological boost. On the other hand it does fly in the face of everything that has been advised up till now 🙄
