  1. Neil McCann? Anyway, you can't compare Ferguson, McAllister and McStay with McCall, Lambert and Fletcher as their roles were completely different. Ferguson, McAllister and McStay were all for want of a better word, playmakers. When they played, they were the fulcrum of the team and dictated play and that's a big part of why McAllister and McStay rarely played together. All different types of players with strengths and weaknesses but that was their role. You can argue about who was the best but I think they each belong in that company. For all that Fletcher, McCall and Lambert were good players for us, I don't think they had a role that carried that level of responsibility, to some extent their strengths were more about stopping the other team playing, not that that should be devalued. I was a huge fan of Lambert but when he won the European Cup with Dortmund, he was essentially a water carrier for Paulo Sousa

Would anyone have died if the Liverpool fans not charged the Juventus fans? The state of the stadium was a contributory factor but the deaths were caused by hooliganism.
  3. Support them, don't support them, take a side in their politics or a pox on both their houses. That said, as much as you might find it an inconvenient truth, Northern Ireland has more connections - culturally, linguistically, genetically and historically - to Scotland than any other country. That applies to both "traditions".

39 people killed because of football hooliganism and somehow what's been going on in Marseilles is worse than that.

How old are you? Not old enough to remember Heysel, that's for sure.
  6. No need for anyone to come out with racist pish, you've already done very well on that front yourself.
  7. Completely agree, the last player we had that could do that was Barry Ferguson.

    England v russia

Hart looked like the real deal when he first broke through but he hasn't kicked on and he's suffered from not having any real competition at either club or international level.

No, no, no. Regardless of the fact that you're actually there, that's not true. You're all nasty drunken sectarian bigots and it was all your fault. The TAMB experts have spoken and it must be true. Have a great time and good luck in the finals.
  10. So the Scots are called Jocks, the Irish are Paddies or Micks, the Welsh are Taffs. What's the British Army slang for the English then?
  11. Herald editorial today saying that in that situation they will be backing Indy.
  12. A very long way behind money I'd be prepared to bet

A bit of a common thread there though.
  14. What about Sweatie then, is that just an everyday word?
  15. Noticed that the guys behind Brewdog got MBEs as well. That's real punk for you, Joe Strummer would be turning in his grave.
  16. I assume that's with a vote to Remain in Scotland.
  17. The whole honours system is political FFS. Talking about class, great to see that Tricia Marwick showed some in turning one down.

Sorry, but I can't think of a single case of the Dutch causing trouble at international level. They do have a big domestic problem but this doesn't translate itself to internationals.

There must be some reason why you are suddenly so interested in what Joey Barton has to say, I can't think why.
  20. Indeed,in the 2001 census there were just over 650,000. Now obviously there is a bit of movement there with people dying, moving back, new immigrants, etc., However unless David Coburn is party to some data that no one else is, I suspect he's talking shite.
  21. Come on, surely you must remember how he change the game against Gibraltar when he came on when we were, err, already 4-1 up.
  22. Just over 700000 people born in Scotland living in the whole of England according to the 2011 census.
  23. I'd take a guess at least 3000. That was what we were offered for the Italy game and I reckon that's what that end holds. Doesn't seem to be any way of segregating it from what I could see even if the Maltese were looking for more than 14000 tickets, which they won't be.
