  1. But who are we going to rely on to do it? It has to come from government. The Clubs and SFA aren't interested.
  2. I'm so sick of putting up with this rubbish for decades. It's time the Scottish government were held to account. We need real, major investment in sports for kids, like they have in every European country bar ours. Forget jumpers for goal posts, those days are gone. We need a quantum leap in investment in facilities and staff and political moves to stop councils building houses on school playgrounds, parks etc. The TA should turn up in their thousands outside Holyrood, not Hampden.
  3. I'd like to see this game given plenty of media attention. We need to put pressure on these players to see how they can perform against what will be top players. Can Fraser, Gauld, Souttar, Christie etc stand out or at least not look woefully inferior? Are they anywhere near the full side? Throw us a frickin' bone here!
  4. It's part of the problem but our players are not as good as they should be. Like the original poster says, look at Iceland.
  5. If we don't have much ability then we should go for pace. It was embarrassing that Ritchie was miles ahead of the full back in the first half but had to check back because he couldn't advance 10 yards with a 20 yard start.
  6. I refer you to the Iceland thread. It's like the scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
  7. Forrest has been our best player when in possession. Time for some idiots on here to give him a break.
  8. I have renewed optimism about Forrest. He's gradually getting back to form and teams are doubling up on him - not something that could be said of Ritchie. Of course Forrest runs it out of play a lot, but he's also capable of creating something out of nothing from a standing start. For a team of fairly average players that's important weapon that's worth gambling on.
  9. Football is about hope though. When cold reality sets in, there's not much point. So here's my wishful thinking... Looking at the current full squad we have some good pros but that's about it. In the u21s we have potentially 5 or 6 that could be significantly better - and I'm talking about players originating from Scottiish football - no idea about the England-based youth players. I've been saying that for 30 years but confidence is sky high...
  10. Don't shoot the messenger!

  12. I believe Forrest may come good. He doesn't seem currently able to be use his pace and remain in control of the ball. I saw enough in the u21s to know this wasn't always the case. It may be it will take another 6 months or so to get his co-ordination back after being out for so long. Glass half full and all that.
  13. Back then some people wanted an "all tartan team". Mental.
  14. Yes, it's a worry, but nearly ready to come back apparently.
  15. Until we qualify for a tournament, there should be no fun here.
  16. The comments on this thread are hardly building the pressure for change. They're streets ahead of us and we think it's funny? It's a joke.
  17. Yes, it wasn't rocket science, but we just can't get our act together to get anywhere near their model.
