  1. class has a lot to do with this. Not saying the McCanns are implicated but if this couple had been a pair of rough necks on a cheap break in Benidorm they would have been charged with neglect. Plain and simple. The McCann's have employed a very professional network around them to protect their interests. Anyone who dares speak their mind on forums or in the media need to be very careful.
  2. dont think I have watched a CL game or a Europa game in full for three years.
  3. Ally McCoist will meet chairman Sandy Easdale and Mike Ashley’s lieutenant Derek Llambias on Wednesday Rangers boss handed in his notice as he had had enough following job losses to long-serving staff Rangers boss willing to give up more than £400,000 to aid settlement Ally McCoist is set to meet the Rangers board on Wednesday for the talks that will determine his point of departure from Ibrox. The Rangers manager is expected to convene with football board chairman Sandy Easdale and Mike Ashley’s lieutenant Derek Llambias with legal teams of both parties present. The midweek showdown is where McCoist will learn of the club’s response to serving written intent to quit at the end of the 12-month notice period on his contract — the move that stunned Scottish football on Friday. McCoist could then be placed on gardening leave or have his contract settled at a cost of £400,000 in order to have the issue resolved before Livingston visit Ibrox on Saturday and next Monday’s Annual General Meeting. But he could yet remain until the end of the season, with the balance paid in the summer. Clearing out McCoist and his entire coaching staff, including assistant Kenny McDowall and No 3 Ian Durrant, would clock in at a fee of more than £1million for a cash-strapped club relying on Ashley loans to limp through the winter. It remains to be seen if Ashley, who controversially handed Dennis Wise and Joe Kinnear jobs at Newcastle, is content to write the cheque and parachute a preferred candidate in at the first-team helm. His man, Llambias, a non-executive director, has been implementing savage cuts at a lower level and not among the high earning staff — a move that left McCoist alarmed and helped precipitate his decision to quit. From the clutch of front-runners to replace McCoist, the Newcastle owner is likely to find the name of Billy Davies for his consideration as the No 1 Scottish contender. The former Nottingham Forest manager has upped his presence at Ibrox in recent months. Davies has spoken previously of managing Rangers being his career ambition and, perhaps crucially for his immediate employment prospects, boasts an excellent second-tier record in England, including a promotion for Derby and Play-Off Final appearance with Preston. McCoist ordered his players in for Saturday training in the aftermath of Friday night’s pitiful performance at Queen of the South. That 2-0 loss did not see Rangers concede any further title ground on Saturday because leaders Hearts’ match at Cowdenbeath was postponed.
  4. in all of this there are the human stories. McCoist's PA who has been at Rangers for 40 years was let go on Thursday. No pay offs, no golden handshakes. Statutory redundancy terms only.
  5. word is Ally has had his last game as manager. There will be a meeting of the Rangers Board or what's left of them next Wed.
  6. Rangers have no CEO, Finance Director and to be honest no board. Ashley is pulling the strings and no doubt his guys are driving the redundancies taking place next(more to come next week). Now have a manager who should really be on gardening leave. Is McCoist playing a game on behalf of King etc? Forcing the current regime to face up to the fact that they can't pay him off but also realizing their investment is going to the wall? Of course Ashley is now the main creditor should we go into admin once again.
  7. Australia have just won the first test in Adelaide. For most of the day it looked like India where going to chase down 350+. Some great performances but Nathan Lyons 12 wickets won the match,
  8. players, management and board are a total disgrace. McCoist has lost it. Definitely looking for a pay off and doesn't care how this impacts on the club
  9. Here was I thinking Ally McCoist had made an honourable decision today. Instead he has given 12 months notice and called the clubs bluff to pay him off. What a total shambles. He should be sacked .
  10. Rangers need £8m by end of Jan just to keep the lights on for 12 months. David Kings £16m offer remains on the table. Mike Ashley needs to come clean and then he has to get by SFA rules. Something has got to give.
  11. Sad day for Ally . The guy is a club legend. Deserves a total break from football and the madness of Rangers. Stood up for the fans and the club I love in its darkest days. He will be judged well.
  12. Its a complex mix. Zero hours contracts, part time working and austerity all add to the problems. Immigration is an easy target but in some areas its out of control. Particularly when it comes to benefit entitlement.
  13. yes of course . That's a positive aspect . There are established communities throughout England. Here in the Midlands there are loads of festivals etc.
  14. Is Scotland exposed to the level of immigrants when compared to England?

  16. This is scary.Fox News is an affront to journalism. Can't believe our broadcasting authorities don't demand it comes with a warning about objectivity.
  17. I equate lets have summer football as the same as the immigration card played by many politicians. Its populist, its based on flimsy evidence in terms of real benefits it brings and it does not address what is wrong with the product
  18. Paid £3 to watch my local team in the midlands alliance 1st division last night. Really enjoyable evening.
  19. £204k if you include VAT. Slightly higher than the original £60k that Utd originally offered. Thomson tried to play the new club and by their actions the panel decided this was not the case. This sends an important message to clubs who want to take advantage of clubs who develop their own talent. I think every decent football fan will applaud this decision.
  20. I doubt they will hit 3% for a long time. I suppose its about anticipating longer term and making changes/contingencies well in advance. Have a read of this http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1607881/When-UK-rates-rise.html
  21. wage cap on clubs. Not sure if this how this could be enforced though. It would force clubs to develop their homegrown talent a lot more. Not sure what model of wage cap you would use though. Rugby League has one applied to the total wage bill of the club I think. You could have an outflow of high earners but I think the scare stories are akin to bankers leaving the City if their bonuses are slashed. There ain't enough jobs for all of these bankers.
  22. Do they still have Arithmetic O Levels in Scotland as well as Maths? For me this was a fantastic idea to split these.
