  1. It's probably because ones just turned 23, the other is about to turn 29 and spent most of his career in the lower leagues that was interrupted by a stint in prison for smashing someone's skull in with a baseball bat. Whether people like to admit it or not things like age and reputation come into your thinking with choices like that. I'm not sure how I feel about Gallagher and still feel a little uneasy seeing him in squads, I think everyone has the right to work in their chosen vocation after prison (outside of the obvious ones, why they shouldn't), I have no problem with him earning a living at Motherwell or any other club he plays for but for me international football is a little different to playing club football, in that it's a privilege not a right. Regardless the decision has now been made and he is an international footballer. He was more solid than McKenna in both games, although McKenna wasn't long back from injury. Basically unless a miracle centre half appears from thin air or Souttar hits ridiculous form, I would expect both to play against Israel
  2. I mean he has just turned 18 (a month ago), but I do agree with you. We haven't had an academy player in our 18 since the second leg of St. Josephs, for me that is truly dreadful. Yes, most of our young players currently at the club are just 18 or younger, so I'm not expecting them to be on the bench everyweek, but to not have one in 4/5 months is poor, especially when we have so many promising ones. The problem for me and what's stopping it, is we have signed soo many players to be back ups or squad members and then signed better to replace them, without moving on the other guys, due to poor negotiating from our DOF. I mean Barker was given a 3 fucking year deal, Polster 2 and a half years and Stewart 2 years. I mean that is ludicrously poor, 12-18 month deals I could understand but 2-3 years is shockingly bad for players of their level. I guarantee right now we will either have to pay them off in 1/2 year/s or loan them until their deals are done. At the club, we currently have 5 players to play 2 full back positions (Tav, Barisic, Polster, Flannigan, Haliday), 7 CM's (Davis, Jack, Kamara, Aribo, Docherty, King, Barjonas) and 7 players for 2 wide positions (Kent, Jones, Arfield, Stewart, Murphy, Barker, Ojo and that is without including Grezda). This ends with these guys having to get minutes now and then for fitness or in the reserves, instead of pointless players like Polster, Haliday, Doc, King, Barker, Murphy, Stewart getting what little minutes they've had, surely it would smarter to give those minutes to our most promising youngsters. I mean after signing Kent, atmost we only need one of Barker, Murphy, Stewart. Hopefully with a new DOF in we can move these guys on a bit better in January/July and make space for the likes of Kennedy, Patterson, Kelly, Mebude. I think Hastie, Middleton, Robby McCrorie and maybe Ross McCrorie will be out on loan again next year. I think Hastie, Middleton and Ross McCrorie were loaned out to be first choice, rather than be squad players at rangers (they are a bit older than the others, 20-21), but sadly Hastie has went off the boil, Middleton while doing it for the u21s, has been poor for Hibs and can't even make it into match day squads and McCrorie has had a strange season, he was beloved at the start but a rash challenge saw him not play for quite a bit, he then started doing well at RB but is out for close to 2 months. Hopefully they can turn it around but it will probably be another loan season for them next year. I think McCrorie could end up a fantastic utility man for Scotland and rangers. He can play so many positions to a decent level and could end up a decent RB or CDM, while also being able to cover at CB and CM.
  3. From rumours Patterson seems like he will sign a new deal and part of the deals seems like it will be him, being moved to the first team next season as tav's initial back up and eventually taking over from him. From what I've seen and talking to a few who regularly watch the youths, he is one of our best prospect's. The athletic did a good article on him recently, where he will probably be tav's back up next season and is seen as having all the tools to become an elite level fullback. With King he probably could be off. He is extremely well thought of and has been in our under 18/20s since he was 14 and is seen in similar potential ability levels to Gilmour. To have played under 20 at 14 is impressive but when you think of the physical demands of CB that is phenomenal at that age. Scotland have 2 absolutely fantastic prospects at CB in our u17 squad. Leon King (15) at Rangers and Liam Morrison (16) at Bayern, both have world class levels of potential and while there are no guarantees, there is cause for optimism.
  4. I mean McGinn and Mctominay would either be in the England squad or on the cusp of this. Both are the style of midfielder England use at cm. It's the reason Maddison, Grealish, etc don't have much caps, they don't suit the way England use their central midfield.
  5. Seems like even if Russia get banned, aslong as their players have been complianent they would still be able to complete as neutral athletes. Like at the Olympics where the Russian athletes had plain gear, no national anthem or flag and would complete as ANA. Although with football it is a little different from athletics, so who knows what would happen or how that would work. I very much doubt they'll get the boot from competing in the Euros. They are more likely to lose hosting privileges.
  6. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007–08_Rangers_F.C._season Yip just the likes of McGregor, Hutton, Whitaker, Thomson, Ferguson, Boyd, Adam, Broadfoot, Naismith, Weir, etc
  7. I wouldn't call 4 in 19 exactly a proven goalscorer. I mean 2 of those were fantastic freekicks against England, but 2 goals from open play in 19 appearances doesn't exactly scream proven goalscorer for Scotland.
  8. People do realise Jack isn't a sitting midfielder at Rangers, he is a box to box midfielder, who is starting to add more goals to his game in recent months. Davis is more of the deep lying player.
  9. Retired after he was 37 (I think), turns 38 in January. Obviously a lot won't agree but I'm with you, I'd have him back in the team for the playoffs. He is a far superior goalkeeper to what we have. Some of the saves he made in the nation's league are the reason we are in the playoffs, Marshall doesn't have those sorts of saves in him. I genuinely worry what will happen if we come up against Haaland with our Central defence and Marshall in goals.
  10. I can only really speak for Rangers youngsters. Our most promising seem to be Robby McCrorie (GK) Nathan Patterson (RB) Leon King (CB) Kai Kennedy (CM/LW) Stephen Kelly (CM) Dapo Mebude (ST/RW) Josh McPake (RW/LW), James Maxwell (LB) & Aaron Lyall (CF) are also all very highly thought of. Middleton, Hastie and Ross McCrorie have decent potential but not sure how far they will go. I think McCrorie could end up Rangers utility man next season (he can play RB, CB & CM) and could get decent game time covering multiple positions next season. I like Middleton but it doesn't seem like he is very consistent and isn't really getting a game at Hibs. Hopefully Ross gives him a chance and he kicks on. Hastie seems to have went right off the boil after a great start at Rotherham, hopefully he recovers. Outside of Rangers I have high hopes for: David Turnbull, Mikey Johnston, Ryan Porteous, Liam Morrison, Aaron Hickey, Billy Gilmour.
  11. Makes you wonder why on earth Johnny Hayes is starting over him
  12. I'm not surprised the Russia team was poor for years barely won a game in the lead up to the world cup, then they magically became world beaters who could run faster and longer than everyone else, nothing suspicious about that at all.
  13. Every level McGinn goes to, he seems to massively improve as a player. I thought he could handle himself in the Premiership, but I never thought he'd be a top performer week in-and-out and talked about for 50 million pound moves to Man Utd. He has an absolutely tremendous attitude and will to improve.
  14. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/18037938.liam-palmer-late-nan-jean-carluke-finally-made-hampden-park/ Has played for us at u19/u21 level. Anyone putting him with the ex-English youth players who choose us in their 20s needs a word with themselves. I'd also note that Steve Clarke worked with O'Donnell nearly everyday for 2 years. If he is picking Palmer over him, then he obviously feels O'Donnell isn't good enough and sees Palmer as a superior player to him.
  15. Tierney wasn't born in Scotland. He was born on the Isle of Man
  16. You forgot Millwall fans 😜 Nah I was there, and I consider it one of the worst nights of my life. Trying to get away from the trouble and bottles just flying over my head aimed at the police. I'll never forget a poor Russian guy trying his best to get out of the way and the police throwing him into the rangers fans. I will say there was a small number of English accents in the baying mob, but not as many as rangers fans try to make out. I ended up spending the night in the Asda garden section on some lawn chairs πŸ˜…πŸ˜…, the security guard was nice enough to let us get away from the trouble and gave us a lift round to the train station when it calmed down a little.
  17. It'll be the lowest of the low that do that (not just Celtic we have twats like that as well), 99.9% of Celtic fans will laugh and be embarrassed by them. I was on a Wrexham forum and basically Wrexham have a small scummy element in their support who linked up with these roasters years ago and that is why they were at the game, as both clubs have a small link. It also explains the insane police presence at the game.
  18. Wrexham fans have confirmed they had Scottish accents. I have no idea why the sun (ohh wait it is the sun) printed it was Wrexham fans. Also they where chanting ooh ahh up the ra and this from a few people I know, who were at the game they sang songs about ricksen dying. I'd be very, very surprised if that was Wrexham fans doing that. https://mobile.twitter.com/jackwills32/status/1195824576556675073?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-40856608563803368092.ampproject.net%2F1911070201440%2Fframe.html If you look through twitter you'll find similar posts from other Wrexham fans.
  19. Cyprus's goal was from a defence mistake. A very poor clearing header from Gallagher, he also had a few other poor header's that went straight to the opposition. Still we got the win and that will hopefully boost the confidence levels. Hopefully another win on Tuesday, to give us a good boost heading into the playoffs.
  20. I find it bizarre and embarrassing when people go to into the away ends of their rivals opposition (rangers fans included), but for a load of Celtic fans to go and watch rangers colts versus a half strength Wrexham team, is a completely different level.
  21. Rangers colts won 2 nil against Wrexham to get the semi's of the tunnocks cup. Apparently nearly 100 Celtic supporter's attended the game πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
  22. You're "open to the possibility" but choose someone else and used nonsense reasons to justify not selecting him ergo not giving him a chance. Point stands, you've chosen someone playing at a lesser level, who has only just broken into his side and hasn't exactly performed in a Scotland shirt. Shinnie shouldn't be near a Scotland squad, until he keeps his form and firmly establishes himself at derby, 6 or 7 games isn't enough. You've chosen Armstrong who has barely started a game and hasn't exactly thrived in a Scotland shirt recently.
  23. So you don't want to give him a chance because of a disjointed friendly against Belgium 15 months ago where we made like 6/7 subs, are 3 nil down and no one has covered themselves in glory. Armstrong was poor in that game and has been poor anytime he's been given a chance since, which begs the question why him? I could also make this arguement about pretty much everyone in the squad. Outside of San marino, no Scotland player has really had a good performance since the nation's league.
  24. Craig Mulholland has been the academy director since Sinclair got the boot. He was a youth coach previously but seems to have polar opposite views on youth development to Sinclair. From a while back but speaks about, the youngsters progressing thanks to the games against foreign clubs. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-academy-director-craig-mulholland-12652424.amp
