You can't say he didn't get a university education though. He did spend 9 years dossing about the place. -

Alex Salmond has only just turned 60. Winston Churchill was 65 when he first became Prime Minister. I would hazard a guess that Salmond is in a better state of health than Churchill was when he became Prime Minister. Those Salmond haters amongst us who think he is going to disappear any time soon might have a longer wait than they think. Even if he doesn't get elected as an MP (which I think is a distinct possibility), I think he will still be around for a wee while yet. -

I wasn't sure if you were having a go at her because she is 20 or because she is a woman. She might turn out to be a very good candidate. Would you have made the same comment if Angus Robertson was standing against Alexander? -

Eh? Does that mean "20 year old woman" = "collie dug" in your line of thinking? -

Easy to say after the event. Too late though the damage is done. Loads of wifies will be complaining about offensive posts on the TAMB by big bad cybernats. -

Is that no jist a wee bit fatist? Some folk might take offence at that. -

Radio Scotland were at it yesterday as well. That daft wifie on in the morning trying to get folk to phone in about their problems wit the NHS. Trying to make NHS Scotland look as bad as possible. The bit I heard was really pathetic stuff.. -

I can't believe how easily some folk seem to be offended. Is it something that gets taught in school these days, or is it just down to namby pamby parenting. if what has been posted on this thread is an example of what some find offensive these days, then they clearly need to be subjected to some more "offensive" material in order to help them grow a thicker skin. If folk really do get offended when the get called dishonest or stupid it might be safer if they never left the hoose. -

I usually read most of the stuff on WoS but can't see anything about this. Got a link? -

Aye, there is. Get independence and tell Westminster to stick their national debt up their erses. It's their debt not ours. -

How much revenue are these policies costed to raise, and how much of it will be redistributed towards the poor, and how? When you stack that up against the £30 billion of extra cuts which Labour has already agreed to then this tinkering at the edges pales into insignificance. Don't forget that Labour were in power for 13 years and the gap between rich and poor just continued to get bigger for the whole of that period. Whether we get a Tory or a Labour Prime Minister they will continue to force the poor to pay for the mistakes of the rich. -
Longannet May Close Early

I don't think we have heard the end of this yet. They can't allow Longannet to close that early. -

Do you think a Labour government at Westminster would do anything much different to what the Tories are planning? If you do, then you are clearly not listening to what the Labour party themselves are telling us. Their plans are almost identical to the Tories. Any minor differences are nothing more than just tinkering around the edges. -

You're not looking at the bigger picture. Your aims are different from a lot of us. You want to see a Scotland governed by socialist parties. I want to see an independent Scotland so that the people of Scotland can decide which kind of government we have. -
Aye, it wis pretty decent.

Jim Murphy

I think it might be like a final act of defiance before disappearing down the political plug hole. It's kinda like Rangers fans defiantly singing Rule Britannia and We Are The People as their club slowly sank into oblivion. We will know they have finally given up when they start singing the Reg Flag again. -

Jim Murphy

Sounds like panic stations for Murphy. The SNP need to make sure everybody knows the reason they brought down that Labour government was because they had denied us the Scottish Assembly which we had voted for. -
Our Pathetic Rugby Team
Orraloon replied to Doric's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
I think we need a wee bit of perspective here. Folk talking about us giving up playing rugby is absolute nonsense. We are still ranked number 10 in the world (I think we got up to about 6 or 7 not that long ago?) and have a pretty decent chance of getting to the QF of the World Cup. I find very hard to imagine our football team getting to a World Cup QF within my lifetime. Even qualifying for a football WC seems a distant prospect. It wasn't that long ago that Wales were so bad that they had to prequalify for the World Cup and look at them now - ranked number 5. There is a fine line between success and failure at this level. We could have beat France in Paris, we should have beat Wales and Italy, a decent performance against England, although we never looked like winning and a total freak show yesterday. Our next really massive game is against Samoa the day before we play Gibraltar in Faro. We won't be favorites for that game but we should have a decent chance of winning it. I am looking forward to a massive sporting weekend for Scotland. Our football team qualifying for Euro 2016 and the Rugby team getting to the World Cup QF. We could be looking at a QF against Wales, England or Australia at Twickenham. -
Coalition Scenarios

Well, the BBC for one. There is no doubt in my mind that the BBC were the most important element of the NO campaign.
