  1. Agreed. His Celtic career summed up by being largely anonymous v Hearts reserves and getting hooked at HT for a 16 year old. I have never seen a football player at this level who looks more oblivious to whats happening around about him on the pitch.
  2. You have missed my point. It means a lot to Newcastle fans. And them only. And I have followed Newcastle for 30+ years so I am aware how much it would mean to Newcastle fans to win a trophy.
  3. I would disagree on both parts. For the fans, its obvious that your own team winning something means more to you so Celtic's treble will mean more to their fans than a League Cup win would mean to Newcastle fans. Likewise Tranmere's promotion play off win and Ross County's Championship win mean more to their fans than any Celtic or potential Newcastle/Everton trophy. As for players, there is no guarantee again. You think a win in a League Cup in England, which the vast majority of top two league teams treat with disdain until the semi's/final would mean more than going a whole domestic season unbeaten or winning 3 trebles in a row? Which of those would be regarded as the better achievement?
  4. Strange place, the TAMB. Plenty posters spend a lot of time criticising the state of Scottish football and the quality of play. Lots then want the best players to leave said Scottish football. Maybe people enjoy living in Scotland? I know I do. Maybe there are numerous reasons why someone wants to remain in the country but none of us are actually aware of them. If all our best people in all walks of life decided to fuck off somewhere else for more money then our country would disappear down the plug hole pretty quickly.
  5. It also reflects that many teams play football in a different way than they did 15 years ago, more happy to slow the game down and retain possession. 15 years or so ago it was Mourinho’s Chelsea as league winners, fast wingers, played on the break a lot. There is also the fact that some teams are happier to defend and try and stifle the game now. Tactics and football changes, 15 years is a long time tactically.
  6. It doesn't take much to move odds on a next manager market with some bookies. They are one of the few markets where certain punters can know more than the bookies ever can therefore they usually have low liabilities and cut odds very quickly at the sign of any decent bets at all.
  7. Its not really 6 episodes. Episodes 3-6 have a running time of 80 mins. That's just 4 mins short of that standard 42 mins a normal 60 minute show is on for x 2. This season is effectively only 16 minutes short of the standard 10 episode season we have been used to throughout the run of the show.
  8. I would watch the finals but I don’t have a massive desire for any one team to win or lose. I would probably be happy to see Spurs win CL as they haven’t won’t it before. I think a lot of football fans will have an interest. Would probably also rather have seen Ajax in the final as they have played some great football in the CL this season.
  9. I don't have a problem with whoever is in the final and certainly don't have any issues with it being English clubs. Spanish clubs have dominated the two European trophies over the last 5 years, winning 9 from 10 available, and also having a couple all Spanish CL finals. No one seemed to get p'd off at that. Yes there are 4 teams in the 2 finals but the CL final make up is more by luck considering both sides involved were 3-0 down at some point in their ties and the odds on them making an all English final at those points was a combined 1 in 500. Will it make the English national team better? Who knows. Maybe. But as noted above, its not as if you have 20-30 English players featuring across these two games. England have some potentially very good young players but they still all have to be playing regularly at first team level to fully see the impact on the national side. That may or may not happen, we don't know yet.
  10. No, to be honest I can't. Hotels work on supply and demand. Whether that's 80,000 punters turning up in Madrid for the Champ League final or an Oasis reunion concert or the World Domino's Championship. If folks have to stay over and there is a limit on hotel numbers then prices will increase. They would do that whether it was £3 to get into the final or £300. The ticket prices for the final itself are another matter and entirely UEFA's call/fault.
  11. You can argue about the morals/money of the CL all you want but its unlikely to change and there isn't a lot that any of us can do to try and change it. However anyone who thinks this years tourney has been "boring" and same old same old needs to really take a look at themselves. Aside from the drama of the two second legs, you have had City v Spurs second leg and Ajax playing quite stunning attacking football away in Turin and Madrid too. Some great football and drama. I would rather have had a Liverpool v Ajax final too, loved the way Ajax played this season but end of the day they couldn't hold out and Spurs just about deserved it.
  12. But being the only relegated team to take a point of a top six team, not that that will be any consolation in the Championship. Definitely a distinct split between the top six and rest of the league now despite the four teams behind City and Liverpool doing their best to disprove that in the last few weeks. I struggle to see how anyone is going to break into that top six without a huge cash investment.
  13. I think near everyone had the same issue and I think it was deliberate. It wasn't a TV issue thing, it was more this battle is taking place in the dark, those involved can't really see whats happening and to try and make you feel part of it neither should you. When the added the snow falling to the darkness it made it even worse. You couldn't see what was happening in the distance and when it got hand to hand then it was very fast and chaotic, again to probably give you a better understanding of those in the battle and what they were experiencing. The dragon battles look like they had been filmed by someone on a rollercoaster with a Go Pro strapped to their head. Again to probably give the feeling of being on the dragons. The Dothraki getting "snuffed out" was indeed very haunting.
  14. Bielsa is famous for his attention to detail. Pep often cites him as one of the managers he aspired to be like when he started off. The Leeds supporting lad in my office said that when he became Leeds manager he said in his interview for the job that he had watched all 46 league games of every opponent from the previous season in the Championship. He told the board how many times Middlesboro went 442, 4231, 343 etc and had a load of details of who did what at set pieces, key players, weaknesses etc. That was even before he got the job and was the detail he went into just for the interview. I think he would get much more details to pass on to his own team in terms of tactics, what to expect etc, from watching say 46 Rotherham games from previous season than spying on Rotherham training? Did they spy on them just before playing them or every week? I just think any possibly advantage they may have got is negligible in comparison to the level of detail he went into on watching actual match footage of the opposition. Just IMO.
  15. Thanks both and will have a look at that website Huddersfield, thank you. My lad did say that he thought the other car was older and while they were looking at the car he did look around it and noticed a bump/dent on the opposite side of it to the side he bumped. I wondered when he said that whether the other party would use this bump to try and get that one fixed on insurance. The police did say there was CCTV in the car park too so I am sure if they were using this incident to make a false claim we could disprove it if need be. I do have protection on my no claims and insurance company said I am allowed 2 claims in one calendar year without losing that. To be honest I am not worried about that as such, its more the case of him potentially getting points on his license for this as 6 in his first 2 years sees him lose the license he has just got.
  16. So my 17 year old passed his driving test at the end of February. A week after passing he had my car out and was at the leisure complex area outside Dunfermline with some mates, going to the bowling alley. As he was attempting to park the car in a space he bumped the parked car next to him. He, and a mate, got out, looked at our car, looked at the car he had bumped, couldn't see any noticeable damage on either. He did say it was dark (evening in February) and the other car was a black one. I have looked at my car now, once I know about the incident, and can see a small scuff on the left bumper, the sort of thing I can probably clean up with a damp cloth to be honest. He didn't have any means of leaving a note as didn't have any pen/paper in our car. The owner of the other car wasn't about. He said, to settle his nerves, he decided to park in an easier spot to park. They then went into the bowling alley and by time they came out the other car was gone. So, Saturday, police turn up at the door. Someone else had seen the incident and left our car's details with the owner of the bumped car. Police are saying he will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident and criminal damage and report now sent to the Procurator Fiscal. Question would be has anyone experienced similar? I am wondering how far this can go - court, fines, points, loss of license etc? I have to take his word that he couldn't see any noticeable damage on the other car. I have reported to my insurance company now and happy to take the hit of any claim on my insurance. The charges sound a bit severe but I suppose there isn't one for "Bumping another car in a car park".
  17. No it doesn't. You should know as well as anyone that teams in the Championship go through phases of form and its unusual for most teams to maintain a similar level of points throughout a whole Championship season. Leeds drop off in points is simply their form changing/dropping, same as say Villa's increase in points per game is them hitting form. To suggest that is because they didn't have someone hiding in the bushes with with a binoculars watching Blackburn Rovers training is a bit mental tbh.
  18. Its a strange one but it is his fellow players who have voted him into it. 13 goals from midfield in the league this season although 9 (?) of them pens. I can only assume voting was a month or two ago when he had his good 6 week spell no longer after OGS arrived.
  19. And Jill Dando. And the CCS. An absolute shambles of a post, all in.
  20. Was he asking for the f**king heating to be turned down?! If so, completely in the right. I stand with Broony.
  21. FFS. You label someone a ned because they don't have a good hairline. And tattoos in relation to their dead sister and child. Its not as if he has THUG LIFE tattooed on his shaved head.
  22. You obviously have all the inside knowledge that proves he is. So, let’s hear it. I don’t know him myself but as he come from just up the road from me I do know folk who do know him. I’ve not heard anything dodgy about him off the park and considering who he is, stories about him would fly about if there was any. He’s done plenty at local schools and football clubs. He’s certainly no Riordan or O’Connor. I’ve a feeling you are one of those people who can’t seperate how someone is on a football pitch with how they are in everyday life.
