  1. Why wouldn't it work? There is evidence in other countries to prove it does work, so where is your evidence to suggest it wouldn't work here? In terms of development of young players I can see no reasons against it. The only reasons against it are selfish self interest from Lower League clubs who literally offer nothing towards the development of young players in this country or the development of the game in this country as a whole. Standards need to be raised, but it continues to be dragged down by sub standard clubs with zero ambition who are happy to take their hand outs and offer nothing in return.
  2. Honestly think Mikey Johnston is a match winner in the making for us, just hope he fully recovers from his injury problems, the boys dribbling ability is special
  3. No but in certain games it could make sense for Griffith's to play beside Fraser or Christie and leave Dykes on the bench. Dykes has proved a great option especially as an out ball away from home but he is by no means undroppable. All four have great qualities but Fraser and Dykes is still my preferred two
  4. Whit?... The reason McTominay is in the back 3 is because of his ability passing the ball out of defence.. Hanley treats it like a hot potato!
  5. The thing is, the injuries he's had aren't actually career threating injuries. They are bad injuries and snapping your Achilles means you'll be out for a long time, but he should fully recover from it. It's just ridiculously bad luck to snap both in a short space of time! I hope he does recover and starts to move up the levels because before snapping his first Achilles he had just started playing for Scotland and was certain to push on at club level
  6. How is he getting on at Palace?
  7. I've seen Morgan do the same at u21 level and Championship level with At Noreen but just never saw that enough when he moved up to SPL level. Admittedly didn't have many chances to shine but the chances he did have he never took them. Also just didn't cut it at Sunderland at all really, expected so much more from him down there at that level
  8. I'm hoping Mikey Johnston fully recovers from his injury problems be as he has the potential to be a match winner for us boy has so much talent
  9. Lewis Morgan is not a maverick and nowhere near the level of Ryan Fraser.
  10. Agreed Tierney is more than capable also, would be good to have him back beside two others in central defence to allow McTominay to go back into Midfield.
  11. That looks a real good team there by the way. Really hope Patterson Morrison and King progress as we desperately need those positions upgraded
  12. Scott 'McSauce McTerminator' McTominay! Hold your head high son! Thrown in at the deep end again in an unfamiliar position and stood up to be counted. Love this guy's attitude and mentality and by the way he can play. He is such an important part of this new system, he is the only one in there with the ability to step into Midfield and play passes through the lines, and his positional sense has improved massively each game he plays. I actually wish we had two Scott McTominays because we need another one in Midfield in place of the invisible yet again McGregor. This boy never hides or shys away from responsibility, could do with plenty more of his type in the squad. Well played
  13. I put Tierney in my side for the game v Serbia but I honestly don't know if it's the right call. I have slagged O'Donnells ability rotten in the past, but in this system he does his job very well. He presses at the right times is disciplined he holds his position really well. His ability still lets him down at times going forward, but what a cross v Slovakia and that is where our goals are going to come from in wide areas so having Tierney on the right may not be ideal
  14. Absolutely fantastic effort from the boys over the last week! Great to see such enthusiasm pouring out from all the players, was buzzing off Ryan Fraser's interview after the match the wee man absolutely loving it the now, seems to be such a belief in the squad now that they can push on and actually do this! Agree with some of the above that there is a drop in quality when certain players tire or drop out but the effort and understanding of their jobs in this system is top notch they all battle for each other. Very hard to pick a team now for Serbia but right now if everyone's fit of go with. Marshall McTominay. Gallagher. Cooper Tierney. Robertson Jack. McLean McGinn Dykes. Fraser
  15. Haha to be fair McTominay done alright the other night, still not the long term answer and I think we miss his bite in midfield. Hopefully McCrorie can come in and play right sided centre half in a back 3. With Hornby beside him there's no stopping us 🤪
  16. Seriously? He was the best player on the pitch last night, a brilliant centre forwards performance from him, touch, hold up play, running the channels, creating space for others, an assist and a goal! What wasn't good enough last night? He is by far our best young prospect up front
  17. McCrorie at right back is a far better option than O'Donnell. Can also play centre half and centre mid so a good addition to the squad
  18. No your right if clubs such as Aberdeen etc can afford a B side I'm for that as well I wouldn't restrict it to just Celtic and Rangers. I know you say there are no Celtic players in those squads but a few of Celtics best youngsters have been poached recently by even bigger clubs than them, which is very promising for the national side.
  19. McTominay should be encouraged to get forward more for Scotland, he's got that in his locker, he's scored a few goals now for Man It's and he's good at carrying the ball forward, I'd play him box to box for us.
  20. I'm 100 percent for Colt teams for exactly that reason, the good of the national team. Rangers and Celtic have the pick of all the best youth players, that is just a fact, but it is also the hardest two teams in the country to get into, so it leaves a lot of these lads, some of the best youths in the country, during the most important years of their careers between 18 and 21 playing reserve football or sporadic loans a few months here and there at clubs where sometimes the coaching, style of play and principles they have learned are completely alien to what they have been learning for all those years beforehand.. They need continuity, playing for their club in the way they have been taught by their club, putting everything they have learned into practice in a senior competitive environment. Loans are good for some young players but difficult for other young players to adjust to for the reasons I outlined above. I honestly think for a lot of the youth players at Rangers and Celtic they would flourish if they played for the B team up until 21 at which point they would hopedully have improved enough after 4 years of men's football to be in a far better position to push for a first team spot. The knock on effect of this is better players in the national team
  21. Yeah to be fair to Rangers they have vastly improved their youth setup in recent years, they have a talented players at all levels just now and the results they have had are very impressive. Like you say there is only so far they can develop though against the standard they are up against, especially if Gerrard is loathe to introduce them to the first team
  22. 100 percent mate, just look at the club's these guys are playing and training at, the environment they are in, they are learning every day from the best and about the level they need to get to to really make it. In years gone by too may of our youngsters thought the top level was playing for Celtic or Rangers and that's them made it. Although big clubs in their own right they are a million miles away from the absolute elite clubs. Our young players need to aspire to play for clubs such as Man City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and to star in the Champions League.
  23. It is definitely a positive! The only way we will consistently produce elite level players is if they are getting elite level coaching. Ok, every so often someone like Andy Robertson will be an exception, but the odds of following the Andy Robertson path to elite level are like winning the lottery. And when I say elite I mean the very top, playing Champions League football for a club capable of winning the Champions League. If one or two of these young lads can come through at these clubs then that would be fantastic! A lot won't make it at those clubs but will hopefully still filter down and make it at a good level. The best chance they have though of being elite, is learning from the best so I for one am delighted to see so many of our young players being snapped up by some of the biggest clubs in the world, and it's no coincidence this upturn in big clubs signing some of our best youngsters coincides with the opening of the Performance Schools that have produced a good few of these players.
  24. Brilliant from McGinn for the two assists glad to see him getting back to his best
  25. Don't completely agree with that tbh, Delle Alli came from MK Dons and he's turned out alright, the club the player plays for doesn't really matter, it's his talent and attitude that counts
