    Forrest

Although Christie has been great in these last two games and if Cairney does decide to play again could be another number 10 option

    Forrest

I actually think McGinn beside McGregor with Armstrong pushed into number 10 is what we will go with in future especially against better sides
  3. And unfortunately your nae Kevin Bridges
  4. Ok sorry he is not quite a defensive midfielder such as n golo Kante more a deep lying playmaker such as an ilkay gundogan or xabi Alonso was. Still a sitting midfielder in that mould though not an attacking midfielder. He is a number 8 not a 10 such as mesut ozil which is how I would describe an attacking midfielder these days. Of course he is not at the level of any of these players unfortunately but decent none the less
  5. That is the only real decision I can see to be made the rest really pick themselves and in that formation
  6. McGinn beside McGregor as the ball winner would do fine
  7. It's funny though that out of all the Midfielders we have avaipable Calum McGregor is the only one who actually shows anything remotely close to all of those traits that are required
  8. Actually very impressed by McGregor in the Scott Brown role for Celtic recently, maybe him with McGinn beside him for a bit of dig as the two holding players and Armstrong further forward could work. I would also go with Fraser and Forrest out wide, why I keep persisting with Forrest I don't know but he has got qualities that we need and hopefully at some point he will start showing it. Stevie Fletcher will be the focal point up front. He's not a great goalscorer for Scotland but hopefully he can bring others into play. Robbi left back, Tierney Right back, McKenna and Mulgrew centre half. Shagger in goals.
  9. Bannan is a better passer of the ball than all 3 tbf
  10. He barely played in Toulon. Are you not thinking of Mikey Johnston?
  11. I think people are really underestimating the comparison between Robertson and Tierney here. There really is no comparison right now. As has been stated, Robertson has proved himself at the highest level you can possibly get to in European Football. He isn't just a nailed on starter for one of the best teams in England, he is a nailed on starter for one of the best teams in Europe! He is literally playing and performing to a far higher level than Kieran Tierney every single game of football he plays. Would Tierney go straight into a top four side, I don't think he would as he hasn't proved himself even in the English Premiership or in Europe yet. Until he takes the route of Robertson and heads out with Scotland to prove himself it isn't even a contest
  12. I think that's way to get our best 2 players in the team and in their best positions. Our best two players being Robertson and Fraser. Only alternative would be to have Tierney LW and Fraser RW. Robertson has to play LB though
  13. It is also quite incredible that we appear to have bummed up Tierney so much in Scotland that he is now viewed as undroppable and are actually changing a whole system to try and suit him, a left back, when there are players who are playing far better at a far higher level who are now getting moved from their best positions to accommodate him.. ie Ryan Fraser.
  14. In all honesty it's not that far fetched. Tierney isn't playing to the same levels he was two years ago and certainly isn't playing to his highest level on the left of a back 3.
  15. Not an out and out centre forward.... But scored the second most amount of goals in the championship since 2012! Jeez for a national team that is crying out for goals we have a bad habit of leaving out players who actually score goals for 'proper centre forwards'
  16. Don't even really get what your point is with that comment. Is that due to ability or attitude? As one of the leading goalscorers in the English Championship for the past 6 years I think he proved his ability. And as I said his attitude has only ever been questioned by one manager someone who he just didn't get on with. Ipersonally can't understand why he was never given more games for Scotland which is the point I was making in the first place as it can't have been based on ability or attitude.
  17. Says one manager in the last 6 years...He never had any issue at any other club he was at in the last 6 years. He was also captain whilst at Leeds. If his attitude was really that bad he would never have been made a captain. Him and Bruce didn't see eye to eye long before he pulled the electric fence story out the bag. There was no questions about his attitude before Bruce
  18. Ross McCormack not being in the squad the last 5 to 6 years has been absolutely criminal. Probably not playing at a high enough level now, but when he was bang in form in the Championship he should have been starting for Scotland never mind not even making the squad!
  19. Completely agree... One player who disappointingly has stalled though is McCrorie. He isn't going to make it at the highest level as a holding Midfielder, he really needs to focus on Centre Half where he has a better chance of reaching a higher level tbh.
  20. Tbh the group that will be 21s next year, the likes of Johnston, Hornby, Porteous and Middleton were Gemmills first group he had at U17s and they seem to have all come through the age groups together. They are all around 19 so here's hoping the next U21 campaign goes better and adding the likes of Gilmour, Cochrane and hopefully a few others to the group And just to add... England are probably the best in the world at that level right now so I wouldn't be too disheartened by tonight. A few of those players will go on to be world class
  21. This has been a strange campaign in that the players in the squad have slowly changed over the course. A few of the earlier games that you mentioned we didn't play well. Andorra away was horrible. But since Mikey Johnston, Fraser Hornby and Billy Gilmour were introduced at Toulon tournament they have slowly started to play the same way these guys have been playing for the U19s. The performances have been much better. It is a big miss being without Johnston and Hornby tonight and will also be interesting to see how Gilmour does up against an older more experienced England midfield.
  22. Bottling it? We are Scotland, we don't have a divine right to win every game, and when we don't win a game it doesn't automatically mean we bottled it. Ukraine are a good team, like Holland are a good team and we are a good team. Anyone of those 3 could have finished Second in that group, we are all much the same and all had differing results over the course of qualifying. On the night Ukraine were marginally better and got a couple of breaks. We never bottled that game, we were never overwhelming favourites in the first place. England will be favourites in this game as they are by far the best team in the group.
  23. We better just hope Cairney is as good a Midfielder as he's being touted as down south because our Midfield is really not that great at keeping the ball. The days of Ferguson and Fletcher at his best were taken for granted it seems now. I'd go with McGregor Tierney. McKenna. Mulgrew. Robertson McGinn. Cairney Fraser. Armstrong. McGregor Griffiths
