  1. I'd have had Paterson, Armstrong & Ferguson in my 23 man squad. If all are to miss it i was thinking who'd i replace them with I looked through soccerway of all scots playing abroad & quick scan of players in the SPL- drop off from our squad to the replacements is quite dramatic Assuming Livramento, Barnes &Armstrong not interested I'd have McCrorie, Fraser & Gauld in Genuinely thinking who else you'd have in the 2 midfield roles and it doesnt look great
  2. On the back of all the Right Back conversation if Hickey and Paterson both out for me would be Ross McCorrie lot of U21 international experience, did well at Aberdeen starting to play first team football in the Championship which is a good level - great age and height For me would have him over Ralston who hasnt played much and would have the same lack of game time issues as Paterson had last 2 games and Max Johnson from what i read hasn't played as much Also really frustrating that Calvin Ramseys season long loan at Preston was a disaster as if he had had a great season could have been first choice right back for us this summer but sadly went really badly for whatever reason
  3. I would have really liked to see him fit and inform in this team - big blow with his injuries this season
  4. Shankland just misses that bit of pace and strength for top International matches If we could take Adams pace, Dykes strength, stamina, physical stature & shanklands finishing we'd have have a good striker
  5. Apparently duel nationality with US and appeared for them at U-15 level
  6. For me that 3rd striker is the only position not nailed on i think the rest of the squad picks itself if everyone is fit For me its Shanklands to lose and based on where hes playing and his position in that team i cant see him losing it. Nisbett not first choice at Millwall recently, Brown can see him losing form and his position in Luton team. The one i would have been interested in is Ross Stewart if he could have been fit this season which he sadly isnt. I think he is better alround than Shankland better physically, strength, speed, hold up play - but im happy with Shankland being there
  7. Hickey could be long term replacement for Robbo on the left and the Tino L plays RB - ideally Paterson kicks on and makes that role his but seems to be struggling at Club level last few months
  8. Cant agree more with your points - shame as well as its such a pivotal age group that should play a foundational role in our succession planning - as players are getting older we should be looking to gradually rotate them out and ideally many of those players would come from the U21's
  9. Great topic Only changes i would do is i wouldnt take Taylor as a back up left back as Hickey and Tierney can cover so would take Soutter instead Then would take S Armstrong instead of Doak, unless his game time dramatically improved over the rest of the season think the experience of Armstrong would win out I know Craig Brown did this at France '98 but would be great for Clarke to take a few '21's along with the squad for the experience and would help with the succession aspect of it as a couple of players are early 30's and likely to be transitioned out over the next few years
  10. I think these three games against England, Spain and France resets the expectations back to reality for a few - weve improved but still have a long way to go I'm still very confident we will qualify
  11. I was just about to post the same thing - if its offside i thought they told the ref and the ref didnt go over Whatever happened ref was a disgrace
  12. The manager plays him in the wrong position and does McT no favours at all with his use of him
  13. you have a raging hardon about Jacob Brown Whats up he had a go on your misses
  14. i was about to message the only thing i would like to have seen was a few of the more inexperienced players to come on for a substantial period of time But overall great result, very professional performance
  15. the obligatory Oliver Burke deadline day loan move to Championship side - cant believe he is still only 26 yrs old feels hes been around so much longer than that - all the physical attributes with very little of the footballing attributes sadly
  16. I was born and raised in England and supported Scotland my whole life, off your first point im guessing ive been wrong this whole time - god i feel stupid
  17. would love to see a list if it existed of the players born outside of scotland eligible for us - not that im suggesting we call them all up just would be interesting to see, the ones that spring to mind that are eligble are Steele, Livramento, Fredricks, Barnes, Gordon, Grant, Targett - as you so many of them not an upgrade on what we have
  18. Some brilliant shirts in there - personal favourite would be the '90 away short
  19. Problem he will have is his reputation isnt based on anything tangible - he's had so few games over the last 3 years that you can only judge him on a hunch and for such an important role as goalkeeper he will struggle to dislodge most first choice goalkeepers now Sadly his career is floating away - 25 yrs old 114 appearances and a third of those in Scottish League 2 five years ago. I know goalkeepers grow into the role at an older age but hes a risk of wasting his talent
  20. As per my previous post which im assuming you didnt read I wouldn't have Brown in the squad if everything was fit I would have Doak over Brown What i was saying is i dont think we can dismiss anyone especially a 25 yr old who seems to play on the wing a lot and got a scoring record of 1 in 5 in the championship and just got a move to the PL. If we got a few injuries/suspenions/loss of form players like Brown would have to come into the squad therefore i wouldnt write him off The other point was it seems a lot of people dismiss the guy and i would assume they have barely seen him play - out of interest when you say Brown doesnt improve the squad which games of his have you watched to dismiss out of hand and on those specific games what did he do that turned you off him - give me the specifics pal please would be keen to get a taste of that expert knowledge
  21. So let me get this right the point your making is a completely unconnected point to my original post - got it If i may respond to your well put point i would probably say i think pineapples taste the best in spring time
  22. The point i was making wasnt related to Brown vs Doak The point i was trying to make is i assume the vast majority of people dismissing Brown have probably not seen much of him play and that i think it would be remiss of us to dismiss a player when our depth isnt that deep - a few injuries/suspenions/loss of form etc and we would possibly need him I wouldnt have Brown in the squad if everyone was fir & i would have Doak over Brown - but i wouldnt like some seem to be doing is saying he should never play for Scotland he's not good enough - hes a premiership player and only 25 yrs old
  23. I assume the vast majority of people slagging him off have barely seen him play Goal scoring record of 1 in 5 in the Championship when playing out on the wing is decent - got him a premiership move I dont believe our squad depth is deep enough that we can comfortable cast aside players with over 125 games in the championship and now hopefully playing regularly in the premiership
  24. just a different thought - with Tierneys recent injury record is it perhaps not a bad thing that he isn't playing as much football meaning the chance of him getting injured is significantly reduced - hes training under great coaches (would assume), training at a great training ground, training with great players so that side isnt bad its just his lack of match fitness I mean in a ideal world he'd be playing week in week out at a premiership team and in the Champs League be on fire and fit for our games - but unless gets a move it seems unlikely
