    In interviews, Gallagher always seemed really excited about playing for Scotland and grateful to be involved. Also got the impression that Steve Clarke is someone he really looks up to professionally. Fought his heart and lungs out for everything on the pitch too.

    John McGinley was thirty years old when he made his Scotland debut and scored a couple of big goals. Shankland shouldn't be written off. A couple of injuries to other strikers and he's back in.

    Charlie Adam and Craig Bryson both formally retire from playing. Adam looking at going into coaching. Bryson was a good player at Kilmarnock and Derby. He was unfortunate to get only three caps.

    Why is it so important to be "hard cunt" in life ? Most "hard cunts" I've come across were despite their outward macho bravado actually very sad, lonely men who had made a mess of their lives and were broken inside. Brains are more important than fists.
