At least they are trying to do something. But if there are fans in the ground in Sep or Oct I will eat that cardboard cut out of myself.

😂 dont you pick on Ramy he is my pal. Though he could fill up an entire stand with the number of selfies he has on here. I was thinking of getting the cardboard cut out for a laugh. I started the purchasing process and expected them to ask you to upload a photo. But it wanted to take a pic of you there and then, I was in my bloody dressing gown ! 😂

I see they are offering a ‘discounted’ price of £15 to get a cardboard cut out of yourself for the game, and future games , so I dont think they can be too optimistic.
  4. Fringo it was a disappointingly uneventful ending to my plumbing issue. The guy opened the pipe outside and he thinks there has been a build up of hair , and debris from the gutter, leaves , twigs etc. I was hoping to post a picture of a big fat rat that was blocking the pipes, a bit like when the fishermen were showing off the rogue shark in Jaws, but sadly nothing that exciting ☹️ The guy blasted the pipes with the jet wash so hopefully that is it sorted. Of course it still could have been my old knickers that were the problem, and if so they are en route to @Lairdyfaeinverclyde In upper Kilmacolm. Apologies if Mrs Lairdy gets the blame 😁 They have said if this doesn't work the next thing is camera down and digging up the rest of the garden. They didnt charge for this visit and everything seems to be ok , so far so good 🤞
  5. I am not sure if this is representative of all schools but the PT at my daughters school ‘ sense checked‘ the teachers grades before they were submitted. The PT actually changed some of the teachers grades if for example the school was submitting too many ‘B’ s .
  6. 😂😂 sadly my bank account is more representative of ‘A Rescue Centre’ than ‘ A Spaniel & Co’ , Cayman Islands. Coincidentally I have just had a text from an old neighbour asking if my daughter would be interested in tutoring her daughter as she needs to resit higher English 🙄
  7. 😂😂 what a disappointment. Yeah, it definitely has the sound of being ‘drunk in charge’ 🙂
  8. 👍 thanks again. At this rate I will know more than the bloke. He will be thinking I have been sitting on google all weekend 😊
  9. I found that very balanced and fair. Closing the attainment gap is a huge undertaking and involves buy in from so much more than just politicians, but there needs to people with vision leading it. I like John Swinney, he is as honest a politician as you could ever hope to find and I dont necessarily think he is doing a bad job , but I do agree with this paragraph to an extent. ‘At the heart of Scotland’s educational malaise is a serious deficit in the quality of thinking at the top. Such a climate is a recipe for the apotheosis of mediocrity. Too many of those in senior positions are ineffective time-servers, compliant functionaries or political opportunists.‘ I also think there is a responsibility by parents in more comfortable lifestyles to contribute more to help kids less fortunate than their own. Within the comments section someone posted this which I agree with. https://takingparentsseriously.wordpress.com/2014/02/27/sharp-elbowed-parents-should-help-all-kids-not-just-their-own/ I havent read ‘Poverty Safari ‘ which is also mentioned . I will give that a read.
  10. I think this may be the next move if no joy tomorrow. I will also check with neighbours to ask if anyone else has had these problems.
  11. Many thanks Ramy, really appreciate your advice, you are a good guy. I will be a bit more insistent tomorrow and force them to investigate this further with a camera. If I still have no joy I will contact the council/ Scottish water.
  12. 4 hours ! That must have been some set of underpants Ramy 😁 Seriously though, thanks for this. The guy who came on Thursday was there for about an hour . He worked hard and seemed a nice guy but there didnt seem much inclination to dig deeper into the problem than use a suction machine. Maybe they start with the simple option. In fairness to him he must have done something as the water was draining away when he left. It is currently not as bad as it was before he came but i know it will eventually build up again. I cant understand how it can seem fine for a short time then come back. Why can the water drain away fine, even for a short period, then block up again ?
  13. I started 7 seconds last night. Have only watched 2 episodes but enjoying it so far.
  14. Sigh. Dyno rod have now tried, and failed, to sort the problem. They didnt use the power jet thing or a camera, just a torch and a suction machine. It cleared the pipes till about 2 hours after they left. They are coming back on Monday. There is more than a little similarity between this and the issues a few of you have had. Mr Tidy has now dug up half the garden in a frenzy , and was threatening to pull a ‘down pipe’ off the wall to get a keek down , an action that would have no doubt ended in disaster. I have packed him off to B&Q to get stain for the decking, there is only so much trouble he can get into with that. Part 3 on Monday.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000lwld I am pretty surprised the BBC can get away with this given the pending inquiry . Will no doubt be a hatchet job to ensure no one connected with independence comes out well.
  16. Finished the 3rd and final season of Dark. My brain is bursting. If I am honest I probably didnt understand half of what was going, but I really enjoyed it. Probably one of those programmes where a second viewing would help understand it more. If you struggled keeping up with the different families in Game of Thrones you can forget it . If on the other hand you understand this, or the subject interests you , then you will probably enjoy it. ‘What is reality? And is there only one of them? Or do several realities co-exist? To help explain, Erwin Schroedinger devised an extremely interesting thought experiment. Schroedinger’s cat. A cat is locked in a steel chamber with a tiny amount of radioactive substance, a Geiger counter, a vial of poison, and a hammer. As soon as a radioactive atom decays inside the steel chamber, the Geiger counter releases the hammer, which smashes the vial of poison. The cat is dead. However, due to the wave characteristics in the quantum world, the atom has both decayed and not decayed, until our own observation forces it into a definitive state. Until the instant we look and see, we don’t know if the cat is dead or alive. It exists in two superimposed states. The properties “dead” and “alive” therefore exist simultaneously in the microcosm. But what if the simultaneous existence of life and death also applied to the macrocosmic world? Could two different realities potentially exist side by side? Could we manage to split time and allow it to run in two opposing directions? And by doing so, allow the cat to simultaneously exist in both states, dead and alive? And if so, how many different realities could exist side by side?’
  17. = See my youngest daughter. She got an F in her Higher English prelim so we got her a tutor. We are not rich but could afford a tutor for 1 hr a week between Jan -May. She got an A in her Higher. Partly she just needed a boot up the arse but it took a tutor to get her an A. This was 7 years ago right enough so its not a new thing. Without doubt the kids with more affluent parents have a huge advantage over kids in deprived areas. However I don't necessarily think that pupils in more affluent areas always get a better quality of teaching at school. I know a few good teachers who actually prefer working in deprived areas as they feel they are contributing more to the child and gain more satisfaction. Tutoring helps the kids grades massively yet the schools in affluent areas get the kudos , the extra ‘one to one’ out of school teaching makes the school look good. IMO it masks the real quality of the teaching. We all want the best for our children. People pay silly money to buy houses in areas where there are ‘desirable ‘ schools . But if the school was that good why the need for tutors ? Downgrading kids results in deprived areas to keep in line with the schools historical results is like rubbing salt onto the wound when you know that kids in schools in affluent areas are getting a leg up from external tutoring every year and without that the schools results would be poorer.
  18. Meh, I ramble a lot too. Be grateful the Buddies dont provide much to get enthusiastic about or I would be rambling on this section more often too. Might have a barbecue for tea and crack open a wee bottle of rose, will at least get me out the house and away from the pong of the pipes for an hour or two. Could be a lot worse though, the drain burst at the home of one of my Aberdeen colleagues and his garden is covered in sewage . 💩 Whats for tea in the Farcity ?
  19. 😂 that second video is a cracker. Wtf is the driver in the second red car thinking, battering through the water when everyone else is stuck. Its like he suddenly sees an identical car facing him floating in the water and thinks ‘ fook ! ‘ then tries a U turn 🤣🤣 Weather here is glorious . Sun is slowly burning through the haze and blue skies appearing .
  20. There is only peace on this thread , no war. 👼 Apart from that greedy Ersatz . I see Scotty is back, maybe he can remind him of the ‘ thou shalt not steal gypsy creams’ commandment. And talking of pipes, where is Ramy?
  21. I have given you all reactions in appreciation of your help or humour. I sneaked in just there before the mods got out of bed and cut my allowance again. Just dont be helpful or funny today because I dont want to create a back log of these, like my pipes !
  22. 😡 you were only supposed to be there to clean out the shed !
  23. Yoohoo !!! Here I am !! 🙋‍♀️ Sorry to take so long , I have been sorting my blockage on the plumbing thread. Now, where are those Trios? You promised me gypsy creams but I suppose they are well gone by now. So , what you been up to for the past 13 1/2 hours ? Anything interesting?
