  1. Believe me Rich, in the very short time I had at the check out I gently tried to explain the reasons why the actions are being taken , I really was fairly laid back and agreed that it was unfair on restaurants , but that it was difficult to define a line between them and pubs. She wasnt interested and it just seemed to annoy her that I didnt agree. I had a mask on which actually made it difficult to talk, unfortunately she didn't . When she started going on about the Alex Salmond /Nicola Sturgeon situation I felt it had gone too far , it was pretty bitter, I don't really want that at the supermarket check out desk. Weekly shops are tedious enough 🙂 I mentioned this particular situation in response to a post about angry people in the comments sections of media , as the woman was like a real live version. It was a weird experience in that environment. Maybe she was just having a bad day, it was late in the afternoon and we all get them. And no. Before someone says it, I wasnt annoyed with her just because she wasnt wearing a mask, she had a screen 🙂
  2. 😂😂 I wish I had just said ‘eh?’ when she mentioned my pasta bowl and she would have stopped the conversation there. It was bizarre. She was shaking her head furiously. I think most folk must just ignore her and she wasn’t expecting a response. Next time I am going to James. He is a wee bit slow putting the shopping through but he is cheery and just comments on how many boxes of wine gums I buy , which we both agree is far too many 😊
  3. Agree about Bob Mortimer on WILTY. Very funny. The fishing programme is great , thanks @Fairbairn, I would never have watched 2 old guys fishing if it hadnt been recommended , even though I really like Bob Mortimer. I thought I was going to pee my pants at the bit when Paul Whitehouse was going through all the pills he had to take, and the sad music was on , then it burst into ‘Lets all Chant‘ 😂
  4. NS making an announcement on restrictions for the hospitality sector tomorrow.
  5. I noticed the comments yesterday, a few of them were also dropping Sturgeon’s name in simply to get a dig. As you say , if she went down that route they would explode. I was at Morrisons the other day. Person in front of me must have made a comment about the price of something and I heard the check out woman say ‘ you can thank Nicola Sturgeon for that with her minimum price alcohol’. I wasnt paying much attention as I was unpacking my shopping. When she was putting through my shopping she said ‘ thats a big pasta bowl’ . I made a comment about having to cook more as the pubs and restaurants were closed. She then said ‘ Nicola Sturgeon has gone too far she is wrecking the economy with this lockdown’. I said to her I didnt think she had much option in order to slow down the spread of the virus. I was pretty relaxed in my reply. She then started getting ratty , sayIng she had other options, that restaurants should be opened . She asked me where I lived then went off on a tangent about the restaurants in my area and how they were suffering. I said to her it was difficult to define a restaurant from a pub and that was the problem. She was getting angrier , saying NS was only doing this to deflect from ‘ the carry on with her husband’ and to get one up on Boris Johnson. I said I didnt think NS needed to worry about Johnson given the current ratings. By then she was battering through my shopping 😂 I was amazed at how calm I was because she was absolutely raging. At the end I said to her it may not be a good idea to bring up politics at the check out as not everyone is going to agree with her. The guy behind me was smiling at me and rolling his eyes, but she had better be careful or someone will report her.
  6. I feel your pain . I am on Primark 2 lens. I buy 4 pairs at a time. When my daughter was a baby I could not go anywhere without at least 3 dummies as she screamed so much. I would break out in a sweat if we forgot them. I now break out in a sweat if I go anywhere without my specs , I can see the mother/child positions beginning to swap 😕
  7. Not at all. Was just thinking you would be a big , strong, bouncer to control them all 😬
  8. I gonna hold onto that thought Lairdy 👍 😮as if ! I am a wee pussycat in real life, the only time I get to be a strong woman is on here, and I am no even very good at that. ‘Mumbles ’ may have been a bit harsh 🤔 He has bad sinuses, people often think he has the cold, so probably ‘ muffles’ is more accurate. When someone has a blocked up nose and the other person has poor hearing it can cause problems. Its like being in an episode of The Clangers.
  9. 😁 I think you could be right ! Quite often I think I know what they have said, but maybe missed the first few words, then when they start to repeat themselves I know what they have said . I think it might be a bit of a satellite delay between my ear and brain, as much as bad hearing. It mostly happens with Mr Tidy as he mumbles and I just make up what I think he has said. I do realise I am doing it though which is at least something , I will need to stop it before it becomes a bad habit.
  10. It would be most over subscribed subject on the curriculum . Either that or people would be too embarrassed to choose it for fear of drawing attention to their sexual orientation. How things have changed. When I was in 2nd year I remember the furore and excitement as we approached ‘ Section 6’ in science, ‘the ‘sexual organs’ . What an anti climax , it was just a drawing of a man and woman's anatomy.
  11. My hearing is getting bad. I have actually started saying ‘Eh? ‘ when I haven't quite caught what someone has said. I thought that only happened in The Last of the Summer Wine and Father Ted. I also find myself repeating what someone has said back to them, by way of clarification. Does anyone else do this ?
  12. Yum, with Lurpak butter and one half of the outsider also with seeded raspberry jam. Its no real jam if it doesn't have seeds.
  13. 😁 I must have missed that rather important fact. Drives me mad when they dont toast the top the bread and you have to turn it upside down and retoast it. Then you burn it. Plain bread is a bugger to toast in a standard toaster as you only get 2 slices at a time.
  14. I had to read that 3 times before I got it . I was trying to think of a connection between Frank and Albert 🙄😁
  15. Excellent. A spin off of ‘Cooking in Isolation’ . Brown or white bread ??
  16. 😂 I was meant to be coming over to Kinsale in 3 weeks for my friends 50th so think yourself lucky it most likely is not going to happen. I sound like a moany old cow but it pisses me off when people are blatantly just ignoring the guidance. I know there are people who genuinely cannot wear a mask and I would normally just assume anyone without a mask fell into that category, but I would EAT my fookin mask if any of the people I mentioned fell into that category. I started working back in Glasgow centre about 3 weeks ago and was instantly really impressed with the amount of people adhering to the rules. In shops it is pretty strict, many of the larger shops have people standing at the doors monitoring it. Glasgow Central Station is less stringent but the vast majority are wearing masks. At the start they had people at the entrances making sure you used the correct lane to come in and out and that you had a mask on, but they dont have that now. I dont think anyone has the power to enforce the masks as some people genuinely do have a condition. Its funny, at the start of all this when really no one was wearing masks and those who were were regarded as ‘weird’ , someone on here (think it was maybe thplinth) said that in a few months anyone not wearing a mask would be the weird ones. They were spot on. It really is noticeable when you see someone without one.
  17. Honest tae fook I am becoming Scotrail’s ‘mask ‘ polis. 4 folk got on the train and walked through 3 carriages with no masks on, then sat down in the 3rd carriage. I was walking alongside , but on the platform. Would love to see their faces now that the train has taken off, leaving them at the station. Only the front 3 carriages of the 6 are being used 😁
  18. Its so bloody irresponsible. And its really unfair on the train staff too . In normal times folk having a wee drink/party on the train doesnt bother me much, anyone travelling regularly on Ayrshire lines gets used to it and its a bit of fun unless it gets out of control. I am the last one to preach about partying. But in current times its like a great big GIRUY to everyone who is trying to adhere to the guidance. They are just reinforcing the reason why the pubs have had to be closed . Alcohol , music , people shouting over each other too close in a confined space.
  19. 😂 I dont know if you are being a cheeky bassa and saying I would bore him into moving, or that the thought of dysentery would be more frightening than Covid. Either way I will try it out on the next creep ! 😁
  20. I moved. As far away as I could. Tonights entertainment was a group of 5 guys about 17 yrs old, knocking back bottles of Buckie and playing that hideous neddy dance music. None of them with masks on , talking really loud and swearing. Ticket inspector was sitting at the end of the carriage watching them, poor guy really could do nothing. Not sure if he was able to call the polis, they werent being aggressive to anyone, just totally ignoring all guidelines . And folk wonder why the numbers are getting worse and restrictions need to be put in place.
