  1. Who knows why they went but if it was long term pre arranged or to meet friends, rather than to just chase a party no matter what the government advice was I will make an appointment to get my eyebrows chiselled first thing tomorrow morning 😊 Doesn’t really matter IMO , Covid has killed tens of thousands of people and continues to do so, its not funny. Substitute the ‘word’ covid with other illnesses that kill large numbers of people and it doesn’t sound that funny. It was brave of you to dive in on this thread , it would have been much easier to stick up a pic of your xmas tree 😊Stick around, we could do with more posters , different opinions matter.
  2. Its their attitude. In no decent persons eyes can it be acceptable to talk about their friends all having covid, and laughing, then boasting about it being even better to travel as its against the government advice. To think that is wrong is not being high and mighty, its being respectful . They dont come across as neds and they dont look really drunk, which tbh makes it worse. Pubs are opened everywhere in Glasgow, to travel to Carlisle is something only people trying to make a point would do, exhibitionists are everywhere these days. The real culprits IMO however are the BBC . They are desperate for reaction and seem to have succeeded.
  3. There is not really any normal at the moment so I haudin onto that Christmas tree as long as i can! It also detracts from the glass of red wine that was spilled on my carpet on xmas eve 😁
  4. Its wrong to get personal too but the tweet that said ‘’Thick as their chisel tip felt pen eyebrows’ made me laugh. If they had just said they went to Carlisle to avoid restrictions it would still be wrong but they are young and folk are openly doing it , it’s impossible to stop them. But their sheer arrogance about covid makes them pretty unlikeable. The BBC are shockingly irresponsible putting this out too, surely there cannot be anyone left that thinks they are a professional media outlet.
  5. Urgh. I could not take the tree down on New Years day 😢 Its a nuisance this year though as next weekend is a bit too long to have it up.
  6. Just when you think you have heard the most ridiculous excuses for a party there are always another 2 numbskulls willing to go the extra mile. Just heard last night an ex neighbour has died from covid, they were in their 40’s , then you get idiots like the above thinking its a laugh.
  7. Thanks for reminding me Lamia , I had almost buried the reason away in the darkest corner of my brain, where anything remotely connected to Rangers is hidden 🙄 At least they drew the line at Alfredo, or should I say my daughter did.
  8. Happy New Year everyone. The board has survived another year ! All the best for 2022 ❤️
  9. What a nice surprise 😊 Welcome back to shitsville Ally. Its like a time warp in here and you almost escaped. Nae luck 😁 Hope you are well and all the best for 2022.
  10. I know, if I had read it somewhere I would have thought it was wrong. But hearing first hand from a friend who doesn’t exaggerate I know it is true. All I can think of was perhaps he was actually still infected after the 10 days and the tests on 24 and 27 were wrong. Think those tests were just LFT as he was mixing with friends so tested before going out. Or unless he told his maw they were negative and they werent ! 🙄 Cant see that either right enough. Its strange how he has gone from being fine to being quite ill after such a period of time, does potentially sound like a different strain.
  11. I have just received a text from my pal . Her son tested positive on 13 dec, someone at work tested positive so he had to get a pcr test even though he had no symptoms, and he tested positive too, so had to do 10 days isolation. Out of isolation on 23rd. Was negative on 24 and 27th. Wasn’t feeling good on evening of 28th so did test yesterday . Positive 😫 Another 10 days isolation . He is really unwell this time though . FfS . Poor guy.
  12. Its 10 days isolation from when the persons symptoms were first showing. You absolutely sure she didn’t have a bad cough on 20th ? 😉
  13. Your back story is very similar to me, daughter had wanted a dog all her life but husband not particularly dog friendly ( or wife friendly for that matter ) , plus the restrictions they bring prevented us from getting one. She moved to a flat with her boyfriend last January and got a cockapoo in July. What a gorgeous, friendly wee dog he is, he has even won my husband round, something I have failed miserably at for 40 years. I am glad you are feeling the benefits of having her and that your heart has recovered. I believe dogs are great for lowering blood pressure too. When they are no ripping your carpets to shreds that is 😊 Whilst I am on a roll of boring everyone to death with my endless posts I will just shoehorn in a wee pic of Alfie.
  14. What date did your mum test positive ? If it was only 3 or 4 days ago I can perhaps understand why you need to isolate at the moment, any tests you did prior to her testing positive are largely irrelevant, but I don’t know how long it can take for a close contact to show as positive. edit: IMO though 10 days is far too cautious , she is being excessive on that.
  15. I thought it was established you didn’t need to isolate? Did something change or was that not correct?
  16. I think the winter months were always going to be the worst and things will have improved quite a bit by spring. Not that I have any actual science to back this up of course, but I can feel it in ma wa’ters and of course my 3 covid jags 😁
  17. I wouldn’t trust him to remember a passport or football tickets 🙄 but am brave enough to try a film recommendation 😁
  18. 😂 I struggled with Game of Thrones to start with for that same reason. I was saved by the family tree thing you got with the DVD box set . I started by splitting the characters into goodies and baddies then worked from there 😁 Glad I stuck with it though as it was fantastic.
  19. 😂 , well make sure and have 1/2 bottle wine beforehand or I am taking no responsibility! I take it you gave up on Dark ?
  20. I saw a trailer last night and thought it looked good. I did have half a bottle of wine in me right enough 😁 Coincidentally my brother texted the morning a whatsap group chat to say it was brilliant . I trust his judgement so will give it a go.
  21. Well if he is referring to the UK government it makes his argument even weaker. Even the Scottish government’s strongest supporters must recognise they have made mistakes during covid, but to suggest Westminster have been better is laughable. The PM doesn’t have the back bone to make his own decisions, he is being controlled from the sidelines . At least if there was no government the public would have no salaries to pay, as it is they are paying salaries to a cabinet who are being manipulated by the back benchers . Their risky strategy may work, it may not, but its got nothing to do with treating people like adults and trusting them. The Tories dont trust anyone, especially each other .
  22. You would be as well saying what is the point of a government ( you may actually feel none whatsoever) , but I think if you were to leave the general public to make their own decisions you may regret the consequences.
  23. Its advisory though, to try and limit the spread, no one is going to knock on your door and huckle you off to jail if you have more than 6 folk in your house. They are hoping the majority if folk will stick to the guidelines as closely as possible. At least that is my interpretation, I may be wrong. I am as weary of the restrictions as the next person, the sooner we can get back to a normal life the better. I also think you would be hard pushed to find someone who enjoys a social life more than me, but it really wont be forever . I do think folk have the right to call out governments if it is going too far , personally though at the moment there is very , very little I am unable to do that I dont want to and cannot see what the fuss is about for a few weeks.
