  1. I don't think it's mandatory that the plane has to be empty while its refuelling, I've been on loads of flights that have still been refuelling while boarding. All they say is not to put your seatbelt on - presumably - for a quick exit - while they're refuelling. I'm only guessing here, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are only dropping people off at Cebu and not boarding passengers, in which case it's almost certain you won't be able to get off the plane. You could probably check this by seeing if it's possible to buy a ticket from Cebu to Clark on that flight. Alternatively, you could be really radical and ask Emirates.
  2. Its pretty clear this isn't going to start and end at Barry Bennell. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a Saville-type individual - ie, widely known and well respected - individual implicated.
  3. Here you go. http://www.11v11.com/matches/wales-v-scotland-02-february-1994-258674/
  4. There's not as many as in Scotland - but then Ireland has been independent for almost 100 years - but they do have a disproportionate influence and voice. You're primarily talking about the Irish aristocracy, landowners and upper and middle class Dubliners. I lived in Dublin for a short time in the early 90s and it was a term that was pretty widely used. Bob Geldof is actually a great example - especially as he was the first person I heard described disparingly as such by friends of mine in Dublin. Bearing in mind, this was only a few years after Live Aid and pretty much everyone in the UK was buying into the whole Saint Bob myth. He grew up in Dun Laoghaire - where I was actually working - and is really West Brit central and went to Blackrock College which is one of the top fee paying schools in the Republic. For all the sweary punk rock posturing, he's a West Brit to his bones and that showed when he was all too keen to accept his knighthood and his subsequent intervention in IndyRef. Good summary here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Brit
  5. Hutchison always wanted to play for Scotland, whether or not he was good enough for England was irrelevant. He played in a B international against Wales when he was 22 in 1994 and still at Liverpool. That was a pretty big deal for him as it was during the period when UEFA had the three foreigners rule in place and by playing for Scotland - even at B level - meant he would be considered as a foreign player for Liverpool. I remember at the time there was a lot of talk in the press that Liverpool were putting him under pressure not to play for Scotland. Dominic Matteo was in the same position which might have had a bearing on his initial decision to play for England.
  6. That's right because Brexit means Brexit and there is a plan and that's to get the best deal possible for the whole of our United Kingdom. Repeat ad nauseum.
  7. Wickerman's called it a day as well. It's pretty sad that a couple of successful and popular festivals are having to stop - I don't think anyone believes T in the Park will be back at Strathallan for organisational and bureaucratic reasons.
  8. Just as we have our North Brits, Ireland has its own West Brits, Bob Geldof being a great example.
  9. It doesn't, the OP was talking mince. It does though highlight England's own problems with youth development though.
  10. Well he's certainly to blame for going and looking at something on the Internet that he knows will offend him, then complaining about how offended he was.
  11. Why did you go and look at it then?
  12. Did you know the guy and know that to be the case or did he tell you it? Its not something ive ever heard before and if it was the case I'd have expected it to have been pretty controversial at the time
  13. We got under 5000 tickets for the Brazil game, your membership number was irrelevant. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-fa-anger-at-ticket-share-for-france-98-1147255.html
  14. They did away with schools representative football some years ago and brought it under the SFA, quite rightly IMHO. I think the last straw was the ridiculous situation where Celtic weren't allowing their academy players to play for their schools - I think they had a point with that as they wanted to make sure that the kids weren't being burnt out - and the Scottish Schoolboys FA not picking any of them for representative games - which Celtic were quite happy with - because they weren't playing for their school.
  15. There was a ballot and there does seem to be some suggestion that you got precedence for the Brazil game if you've been to an away qualifier. It could just be that it was a straight ballot and because there were more tickets available for the Brazil game than the others, it just looked like they had given priority to people that had been to an away qualifier. Who knows, Marjorie I guess. TBH, out of the three, Norway was the best one to get as it was a better match and also the general atmosphere in Bordeaux was brilliant.
  16. I think it might have been three qualifiers for all matches but that was the general principle. We'd a total of 9000 tickets for the finals across the three games. I doubt there was more than a thousand that got all three matches so it does suggest the STC had around 8000 members at that point.
  17. Could be, I understand that's pretty popular in Saltcoats.
  18. It's going some when you can't even spell Proddie correctly.
  19. Here we go - 16000 STC members in 1999 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/474925.stm
  20. Just found this about France 98, people forget that although we had a load of fans there, especially in Paris, the allocation for the STC was pretty small. For the Brazil game we got about 5000 and for the remaining two matches we only got 2000 each. The way the tickets were allocated, you could have been an STC member, not had gone to any away games but could have received a ticket for one of the games. I'm going to revise my previous estimate of STC membership in 1998 downwards to around 8-9000. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-fa-anger-at-ticket-share-for-france-98-1147255.html
  21. For Euro 96 there was no restriction on ticket applications, if you wanted to you could get tickets for all games as an STC member. I'm pretty sure they kept the STC open so you could join before the finals and get tickets. I'm also pretty sure we didn't take our full allocation for the Switzerland match. I would've put the STC membership at Euro 96 no higher than 8000 and even then I think I'm overestimating it. They closed STC membership for France 98 the night we secured qualification by beating Latvia at Celtic Park and if you look at how the ticket allocation was decided for the final, the STC membership was probably no higher than the low 10,000s going into France 98. I found this from the Herald in 1998 which shows that arguments over ticket allocations is nothing new. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12296754.Letters_to_the_sports_desk/ Two things are important to remember about the play-offs against England in 1999. Firstly, every STC member could buy *two* tickets for the match and then there was also a public sale. Remember the fuss about the telephone sales going through the GCC call centre and GCC dtaff being able to jump the queue. Secondly, we were offered something like 8-9000 tickets for the match and had to return a few hundred. Again, that tends to suggest that membership was in the low 10,000s. The SSC converted into the STC after this in 2000/2001 and there was an immediate jump in memberships, then probably getting towards the 20000 mark or maybe even slightly about that. The SSC only reached the capped 35000 mark when membership opened up in 2008. This was immediately after the Italy "decider" in 2007. That game also went to a public sale, which was a bit of a shambles. People might remember the overnight queues at Safeways and also the "unpreeecedented demand" recorded messages. That was the point when a lot of people joined the SSC to guarantee home tickets.
  22. It's likely to be very far from the membership number. I joined in 1993, my membership number is 10000 and something and I think there were only about 2500-3000 members when I joined.
  23. They dont recycle membership numbers so that's essentially meaningless
  24. In which case that would be a completely incorrect picture.
