Plane Crash In French Alps
UPROAR replied to TartanJon's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
also dont get why they need to be looking for boxes. Streaming telemetry live is already done by rolls royce engines and it should all be streamed live. There should be no delay and no search required. -
Plane Crash In French Alps
UPROAR replied to TartanJon's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
I flew 90k KM last year and find this a bit shocking because it statistically shouldn't happen in Europe on these planes with these airlines. However I dont follow the logic that people make themselves afraid to fly but dont think twice about getting in a car. That is bonkers. Airplane safety is almost at unthinkably low levels, cars on the other hand.... lets keep it real.... -
I dont understand your economic illiteracy. Scotland has contributed more in tax per head for 34 consecutive years. Does that not mean anything to you ? Ahhh but the debt, the debt..... yes the debt. The debt which makes up £4billion of our annual 'overspend' - spent on our behalf not spent on Scotland. Separating Scotland puts us in a better economic position that rUK, even before we get our share of assets and the economic boost that follows. London is not an economic miracle - Scotland has invested the bulk of its £200Billion plus overspend in London's infrastructure - that has to be invested here.... In truth it is nearly impossible for our economic position to be much better or much worse on day 1 - how could it be ?

Bbc Scotland Election Coverage Plans
UPROAR replied to exile's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
I see the whole thing as a no lose for the SNP... in past elections they kept their money in the bank for the Holyrood elections and got completely steamrollered by being left out of UK TV coverage. Even without 'the surge' they would do well. bring it on... -
Youtube To Dvd
UPROAR replied to sonofoi's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
ok first you need to get the video off YT and on to your PC. One way (there are lots) is to use Firefox - you can get a plug-in called Download Helper - then when you go to YT you should be able download the file to your PC. After that you need a DVD burner and you're pretty much done... -

can I just say I walked past Jenny Marra today.... she was wearing a tight black top and a short, pleated tartan kilt..... Ive never noticed her before but I was quite unprepared. just wanted to share. -
mine too.... son never lived in Scotland until nearly secondary school, daughter born in Munich. Likes to 'switch' to Germany when we exit tourneys. They are Scottish through and through.... because they choose to be.

70% Think We Will Be Independent
UPROAR replied to Doric's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
by what mechanism do we get dev-max ? so the SNP say in 2016 'vote for us and we'll give you dev-max' - they have no sovereignty and can't deliver so what next ? Do we need a referendum on devo max with a majority Yes being a claim on sovereignty ? -

All Our Politicians Do Drugs
UPROAR replied to biffer's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
are you trying to ensure they do or don't take drugs ? -
I am generally impressed by the way ordinary people in Scotland these days are sensitive to issues of gender, race, sexuality. Bigotry of all kinds seems to be sliding in the past. Not at Rangers. The guy Graham, who appeared to be the epitome of the near legendary 'decent Rangers fan' - modern well dressed and articulate enough to pop up on chat shows. And yet here he is unmasked as a bigot and a prolific online troller. Now the guy 'Woods', who was going to paint the stadium, turns out to be an advocate of ethnic cleansing (we can all guess of whom I suppose).... having personally experienced the full glory of 40,000 at Ibrox singing the most disgusting bigoted songs 3 years ago I ask....... do Rangers fans even know what bigotry is ? If you stand alongside bigots and identify with them and do nothing to stop them what does that make you ? there is something rotten with this 'culture' - how are they going to deal with it ? because it seems to me they are intent on defying the police, the government, the SFA and anyone else who stands in their way..... It is mainstream, not a 'minority' - it has even reached the boardroom now. why does no group within Rangers stand up and say they should stop ?

Independence Referendum: Take Ii
UPROAR replied to Auld_Reekie's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
there is a complete opportunism about the numbers. £4Bn every year is interest on debt taken out in our name by the UK government but not spent/invested in Scotland - yet we still are allocated a population share. This needs to be addressed. our economy under performs and that is the point of independence - it has to be dealt with. In the last 50 years we have had an average annual growth of 1.8% compared to the UK average of 2.3%. That may not sounds like much but if we had performed at the average our economy would be 25% BIGGER than now!! Oil will remain important and there will be opportunistic focus on the numbers - however oil is low just now because OPEC want to grind shale production into dust. They will do that and then they will take the profits they are currently foregoing back with a vengeance. Oil will be driven back up to correct for the loss. We'll see how much opportunism there is then. Scotland has still given £150Bn more in the last 30 years than it got back, this will continue apace since year to year is not the story - it is the revenue over time which matters. (this is the cause of the -0.5% lack of growth - we invested our wealth in London) The mismanagement of our core economy (low growth) and of our oil asset (no fund) is on an epic scale for incompetence and yet they have the deliberate illiteracy of the media behind them. -
Championship Play-Offs To Be Binned?
UPROAR replied to Scotty CTA's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
I think they'll do it and frankly despite the sh!ittiness of it Id take it. Rangers need something fundamental to change to fight through the playoffs - McCoist isn't it and I doubt Smith is either. -

hear hear - I made a bit of a 'blame' post on FB and got torched quite rightly by many older Yes voting relatives and friends..... on the other hand the mortality rate in Scotland is about 50k/yr and we were only 192k short of the line..... bet 90% of them are over 70 ?? -
what happens now ? King gets control - I would guess spends £10-£15M to get to the 'start line' - then ongoing expenditure (millions ?) to get everything else stable ? Then what ? how much to compete with Celtic, buy players ? I guess more millions ? What I am missing is how much does this sugar daddy have to pump in then how does it become sustainable ? Also given his track record do we expect him to be honest, philanthropic and always act honourably and in the best interests of the club and Scottish football ? there seems to be a lot of detail missing for the less informed amongst us......
-
this is complete and utter p!sh btw.... last time I was at Ibrox (18th Feb 2012 :-) there were the best chunk of 40k singing their wee hearts out and the never missed a beat or an 'add on'. When we tried to leave there were gangs waiting outside to wade in. Not only would I stop going to games if this happened at my club but this BS about 'only a minority' has to stop. It is a lie.

mmmmm... sounds nice

are you Jim Murphy ?
-
I guess you'd rather talk about anything except the poison at Rangers... even if you have to make weird stuff up
-
eh ??? you are bonkers right ?

there are so many levels on which you dont seem to get it.... there is always a threat of serious unrest at an OF game, violence in the pubs and bars domestic violence, people are regularly stabbed, wives are beaten. Not just on match day but on a an ongoing basis, driven by a whole serious of ritual hatred, singing and tribal activities. The singing ban is not about the singing - its about the violence. Stop the civil unrest, hatred and violence and you could probably sing what you want ? Mind you last time I was in Ayr at a game there was a dodgy moment when a taxi driver swore at us and said he wouldn't take 'scum like us'... then he laughed and opened the door. For a moment I nearly believed him - phew !!!!
-
that is possibly the most ignorant, weird and mental thing I have seen on here..... I have supported killie since 1985 and the hatred of sectarianism, and both sides of the OF runs deep. We are a real football club and despite our current ridiculous board, we are proud. We have no shame at Rugby park and I can only assume you are an idiot or a wind up merchant...
