  1. I think Gauld could be an exception, he is only now developing physically. If he fills out sufficiently I think he'll be a terrific player. It took Snodgrass till his mid 20s before fulfilling his potential.
  2. I didn't actually say World Class, £50m doesn't necessarily buy that. He's got the attributes that the big clubs cannot ignore and they'll pay whopping fees for him throughout his career. He showed in 20 minutes last night he's got a lot to his game. He played a sensational pass from deep, while under pressure, to send the striker clean through, then a good dribble and pass for the goal. Add blinding pace and power and clubs will be falling over themselves.
  3. No surprises from me, but I thought McKay was different class today, as was Tierney.
  4. I've seen enough of Burke. 2 years and he's a £50 million player. Bookmark.
  5. is there any way to get a phone alert if Burke gets on?
  6. Are Gemiil's teams any good? I have a vague recollection about being annoyed by the style of a recent u19 game. John Hughes would have been my choice. Good at winning and playing attractive football and encourages young players.
  7. Not sure why. We've got a top player in Snodgrass and other good attacking players, plus a new great hope. Surely a time for optimism?
  8. I'm sure Martin and Hanley are no worse than last season, they just need games. For England we need pace on the flanks to limit their overlaps.
  9. He was a bit over eager in the game, but a couple of years in Germany and we'll have some player on our hands. Maloney correct in saying he'll come to the fore against good teams that play a higher line.
  10. Fletcher was steady and competent last night in midfield. Centre half would be a bad idea.
  11. I think Tierney is our best defender and I'd probably play Robertson left midfield ahead of him for the tougher games (England and Slovakia away). Paterson and Burke on the right.
  12. Chris Martin doing nothing. Naismith, Fletcher or Watt would all give more. Defence too deep and look like conceding at any moment.
  13. It would suggest one or two wingers will be playing on their favoured side.
  14. His classic response to "Any hangovers today, Mr Ormond?" from one of the press horde.
  15. "you can keep your cheeky remarks to yourself"
  16. He looked pretty good when I saw him play in the first team at Sporting (think it was league cup) and he was also the best player on the park against N. Ireland. If this loan doesn't work out he'd be better off somewhere like Hearts for the second half of the season.
  17. Ryan Christie is a good player but was all arms and legs last night; a sign of not being match sharp. Another player who needs first team football before his career is permanently damaged.
  18. John Hughes would be great.
  19. Henderson a very annoying footballer to watch. Poor throughout, although Smith and Souttar did well.
  20. Between the full squad and u21s I'm optimistic we will have quality in the near future. Cue thumping defeat tonight...
