  1. I’m the Republic of Ireland SLO. We played in the Amsterdam ArenA in November. Just a few tips that might be useful for your game. A large number of our fans missed kick-off and some missed a lot of the game. The Strandvliet metro station on line 54 is more convenient for the away end. It is the station before the main stadium station – Bijlmer ArenA. There are quite a few places to eat and drink around the Bijlmer ArenA station so many fans may still choose that route. Just be aware there is quite a walk then to the away end. The area outside the stadium is not well lit and the signage can be confusing due to different configurations for Ajax and national team games. Security was very strict in November. An initial ticket check was in place 200 metres from the entrance. A search point approx. 100 metres from the entrance. Long queues formed here approx. an hour before KO. A final check and ticket scanning at the four turnstiles. Now obviously follow your own advice from the SFA, your own groups etc but if I was planning on attending a game in the away end in the Amsterdam ArenA I’d arrive as early as possible. There were no issues with the Dutch fans. Our fans mixed freely and I’ve no doubt the Tartan Army will also mix and have a great time. You can expect high security entering the away end. The staff were courteous and professional. However they are very thorough. The UEFA minimum requirement is 1 turnstile per 650 fans. Each turnstile must be capable of processing 600 fans per hour. The AA meets the requirements. The Aviva in Dublin has significantly more turnstiles and has contingency plans to deploy stewards with hand scanners to get everybody in for KO if a last minute rush. I don’t know the figures for Scottish stadiums but I suspect the ratio is closer to the Dublin one than the Amsterdam one. The focus in Amsterdam is on safety and security. The fans in the Cat 1 seats had no issues. A number of Irish fans also sat with the home fans and I’m not aware of any issues although obviously I would not recommend that. The advice from the KNVB was for away fans to arrive 60-75 minutes before KO. I’d strongly advise any visiting fans to follow this next month. Gates opened 2 hours before KO. Enjoy Amsterdam I’m sure you will have an amazing trip. Note the attached info obviously applies to our game but a lot of it is still reelvant. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have if I can. Some members of the TA have been very helpful to me in the past. 2023 - Netherlands - SUPPORTERS - Info Guide1 (1).pdf
  2. Just browsing and saw your request. I see nobody else responded. Not sure if a recommendation from 1988 is any use but I'm pretty sure this is the place we camped in. https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Hotel_Review-g187291-d10352921-Reviews-Camping_Cannstatter_Wasen-Stuttgart_Baden_Wurttemberg.html A short walk to the stadium and good transport links to the centre even back then. I'm Irish btw so will always have very fond memories of Stuttgart.
  3. Just a thought, the Republic of Ireland are in Vienna the following night. Some of our fans may go to this game and make a donation in lieu of the tickets. I'm going to see First Vienna in the Hohe Warte instead but had originally planned to go to Trnava. Happy to advertise it if it helps.
  4. Not sure how relevant and useful this is but when we (Republic of Ireland) played in Zilina in 2010 it was also sold out (smaller capacity) and there was a shortage of away end tickets. Some fans got sorted with home end hospitality tickets but many were locked out. There didn't appear to be much of a black market.
  5. Only local travel included in almost all cases as per above. However if you are going to the game in a group there is huge discount available on group travel. 5 of you on the Regional trains could travel very cheaply once you go together. Are Union Berlin at home? I want to go and see them play at home as I'm told their support is amazing.

    U17s

schedule is here http://www.uefa.com/multimediafiles/download/competitions/general/02/35/19/91/2351991_download.pdf It appears your game v Portugal is live on Eurosport 2 - kickoff appears to be 12.30pm BST on Sunday May 8th. All games are in Baku. I was hoping to go if Rep of Ireland made it but we just missed out.
  7. The touts on there are sickening but you will get tickets. It may seem counter intuitive but tickets get easier to obtain as the tournament goes on. Many fans go home. I'd be surprised if it cost more than face value to get into that game in Marseille. It is likely to involve Spain whose fans never travel in numbers. If you are unsuccessful this time then the protal in March will have tickets from the later rounds.
  8. I haven't any to sell. I'm looking to buy tickets fore the games I plan to attend. I've already paid in full to somebody on here for a ticket for 1 game. I have sold tickets in the past for previous tournaments (never above face value) and also had people commit to buy and then pullout. You can become facebook friends etc with them which can help build trust. I've no doubt you are not trying to scam anyone and they will no doubt see that. Since you are not trying to scam anyone it is also safer to protect yourself. As of now tickets appear to be scarce. However that can change. If you are definitely not going to use them then safer to sell now and get the money you have paid back. They can pay you by bank transfer, paypal gift,
  9. On facebook there is a public group UEFA Euro 2016 Tickets, Buy, Sell and Trade You would surely find takers on there. Have you advertsied them on here? There are touts on the facebook page although the admin tries to get rid of them. You could ask for full payment now in whatever format suits you - paypal, bank transfer. As of now tickets are difficult to get and if you don't plan on using yours then you should be able to offload them easily enough.
  10. You can ask for payment now. Then they have to trust you are not scamming them. You can add in the cost of international signed for special delivery postage. I sold tickets back thorugh UEFAin 2012 for a game in the Ukraine and it was hardly worth it in the end. If you have any of the following I'd gladly buy them Turkey v Croatia Paris Russia v Wales Toulouse Germany v Northern Ireland Paris R of 16 in St. Etienne 25/6 R of 16 in Nice 27/6 Quarter final in lille 1/7 quarter final in Paris 3/7
  11. I think there are some fees. You also lose your 15 euro delivery fee. You could legitimately charge that and postage as face value if selling to anyone. Have you offered your tickets on here or on facebook? I'm sure you would have plenty of takers at face value for almost any game.
  12. I'd gladly buy your Wales v Russia tickets. I'm going to that game and have no tickets. Sent you a pm.
  13. Looking for 1 ticket for myself for the following games Match 2 June 11th Albania v Switzerland in Lens Match 5 June 12th Turkey v Croatia in Paris Match 27 June 20th Russia v Wales in Toulouse Match 30 June 21st Northern Ireland v Germany in Paris Match 37 June 25th RA v RC in St. Etienne. Match 44 June 27th RB v RF in Nice. I'd appreciate any help. Nothing to swop unfortunately.
  14. It means you can have a team from pot 2,3 or 4 v a team from pot 2,3 or 4. France are A1 and the other 5 seeds are B1, C1 etc. After that teams are drawn from the other pots and they are drawn into position 2, 3 or 4.
  15. I can't say for sure as I was driving and didn't try. However I believe it did. It was outside the stadium so would have been allowed. No alcohol on sale in the regular seats inside of course. Don't expect too much mind as it was pretty makeshift. Just a few vans in the carpark.
  16. The stadium is well out of town beside a motorway with nothing much else there. I rented a car and drove to/from Loule but that meant no beer until afterwards. There is loads of free parking. There were some public buses after the game to Faro but from speaking to somebody who left the stadium an hour after the final whistle he saw quite a few Irish fans the worse for wear with little prospect of leaving that night. You'd need to move pretty quickly after the final whistle to get a public bus. A taxi to Loule or to Faro is approx 25 euros but you would need to have your transport organised for afterwards. Even in September it got quite cold at the game. It is worth bringing a jacket. There is a makeshift fanzone at the stadium which serves beer and fast food. It also has music. I didn't see the train station or hear of anyone using the train. Don't assume anything re extra services as the games are really low key.
  17. I'm hoping for a Poland win in Glasgow. This guarantees a playoff which I'd gladly take. If we were to draw with Germany then a draw is obviously better but if offered a playoff now I'd take my chances.
  18. There is a full programme of domestic football on the friday night. The best game is probably Bohemians v Shamrock Rovers which is the big domestic derby. Kickoff 7.45pm at Dalymount Park. A short walk/bus ride from the city centre. St Patricks Athletic entertain Limerick at the same time. Their ground is on the LUAS (tram). Pats is pay at the gate but better to buy in advance for Bohs. 15 euro a ticket normally. Bohs play in red/black while Shamrock Rovers play in green and white hoops. Pats wear red and white and Limerick wear blue and white. Bohs have 3 bars in the home end. I'll be in the away end at Pats. We're currently bottom of the league and could do with some extra support.
  19. Trinity College is a perfect location. Student digs rented out for the summer but will be fine for a football weekend. Safe location and you can walk everywhere. Stadium, nightclubs, pubs all within easy walking distance.
  20. Lower Gardiner street is near the bus station but not a great area particularly at night. The buildings are quite old too so quality of the B&Bs there may not be the best. Some may be refurbished. You need to factor in the cost of a taxi back to your door from the pub. I would strongly advise you do not walk in this area after dark.
  21. I had a rental car on friday night and parked just down from the Oak Bar on Springfield road in sight of the stadium. Seemed to be plenty of street parking albeit almost 3 hours before kickoff. I would not recommend driving there but in my case I had to bring back over 30 programmes and I needed a place to dump them rather than carry them around all night.
  22. I'm sure there will be no problems between the Tartan Army and the travelling Irish fans.
  23. And why should Irish fans be responsible for Scottish sectarian bigots from Scotland who probably never set foot in Ireland causing problems at a Scotland match? I was in the away end at Hampden in 2003 too. Yes there were some some sectarian bigots trying to start sectarian songs and abuse Scotland fans but 100% they were Scottish. They also seemed to have home end tickets too as 2 of them tried to take our seats.
  24. This is not a VIP programme. It is a reference booklet for the security staff in the stadium. Worth a tenner tops imo.
