  1. Why would they beat Moldova 8 nil. If you are talking about away to the Faroes, then they aren't comparable. Faroe Islands are a better side than Moldova. They are currently 107th in the world 70 positions above Moldova.
  2. Exactly they are the 5th worst team in Europe. It's embarrassing that people are trying to put a positive spin on a 1 nil home win against this level of opposition.
  3. I don't know if it was due to poor performances or lack of movement and fluidity in midfield but I noticed Patterson and Robertson were getting very little options for passes and would get crowded out with very little support. They would either have to try and make a low percentage option or go back to central defence. Gilmour was the only one who was trying to show as a constant option.
  4. Considering the level of opposition, I don't think we created a great deal. 3/4 open play chances against one of the worst teams in Europe isn't exactly fantastic. Set piece wise we were a lot better. Gilmour seems to have a fantastic delivery.
  5. Longstaff and Bates are 2 very good signings by Aberdeen. While Longstaff is only a loan he is very well thought of and has played in the EPL on multiple occasions. Bates is a decent CB and should do well.
  6. I was kind of hoping they'd go down to the conference league. They'd get a lot more points in that competition.
  7. This new competition is going to see us tumbling down. The nations around will be getting 3/4 teams a season, while it looks like it'll be the usual Rangers/Celtic in Europe. I think due to being 11th next season, whoever wins the Scottish Cup/finishes 3rd goes into the Europa League playoff (unless UEFA change it again), so we should be guaranteed atleast 3 teams next season
  8. It depends what he wants/needs. He is at the tail end of his career. A SPL team could only offer him a 8/10th of his wages (he is on 10/12k a week). It's a massive loss in income coming to a non OF club for him. League 1 the finances aren't great due to covid. If he is going to Liverpool even as a 3rd choice he'd probably get a bump to atleast 15/20k a week.
  9. McCrorie going in brave and then getting a boot in the face. Thankfully he seems ok.
  10. McCrorie hasn't had much to do. Patterson started the game like a guy who has only played one game all season. After that he has had a fine game.
  11. Massive career altering moment for McCrorie. 2 big performances could see him finally kick on and starting showing his potential. The Celtic game especially could alter his career path. A big performance with impressive saves would probably see him remain at Rangers and fighting McGregor for the jersey. A soso/poor performance see's him out on loan or sold with his confidence probably shot.
  12. Hutton did play at CB on a few occasions. He wasn't particularly good. I was just stating height due to this misconception on here that Patterson is smaller than O'Donnell. I think Patterson could become a CB due to everything I've seen from him. He is very good at reading the ball in behind and is good in the air.
  13. McLaughlin is injured. McGregor started his first league game and McCrorie was the sub keeper at the weekend due to this.
  14. Patterson is 6"2 it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up similar to Tierney and playing CB on occasion. Isn't Ramsey around the height of Tierney as well? Imagine this in 2-4 years, two attacking fullbacks at RCB and LCB underlapping the wingbacks and bombing forward with a very possession based midfield. Except for goalie we have the potential makings of a very decent squad for EURO 2024-World cup 2026. Some positions aren't perfect but all round the squad (& potential players) looks like it should qualify for 2024 and should give qualifying for 2026 a very good go.
  15. Training with the u21s and getting some minutes, is better than playing every game for the u19s. He'd learn more from training with more talented and experienced players and trying to push himself to oust Ashby. Even the way Gemmell explains it, makes it seem like Ramsey should be there and should be first choice but Ashby isn't eligible for the u19s, so we have to keep Ramsey in the u19s Ramsey is above u19 level now and will not learn from those games. All it does is block a spot for a u19 RB who might benefit from it. Another mind numbing Gemmell decision. Hopefully some club is daft enough to take a punt on him soon and we can finally be rid of him.
  16. He done almost the exact same thing in the last cycle though playing a CM over a natural RB at RB.
  17. Rory Wilson is one to watch. Only 15 but has scored multiple hatricks at u18 level this season. He is being watched by multiple big clubs down in England and is being tipped highly to make it.
  18. With Bacuna away now he should hopefully be first choice this season. I know nothing about High but he's only 20 and starting weekly in the championship, that can only be a good thing.
  19. McKenzie is still eligible for the u21s. Seems a bit strange that Montgomery is ahead of him. Maybe McKenzie is getting a full call up with the injury to Robertson at LB. Ramsey is still eligible for the u19s but when you have one RB in the squad, it is just stupid to leave a RB of Ramsey's quality out of the squad. Just some more baffling decisions to add to the long list Gemmell makes.
  20. Still too early for me. If he keeps improving and becomes a regular starter, then I think he would be in with a shout. Right now he is playing far better than Kent and deservedly replaced Kent at halftime. Kent should be benched with Wright taking his place on Sunday. Gerrard likes soundbytes about players coming in, impressing and keeping their place. We'll see if that is the case come Sunday. He did it with Bassey over Barisic but Barisic isn't a Gerrard favourite almost undropable like Kent (& Tav with keeping Patterson out despite playing poorly).
  21. Ryan Kent seemed like he was playing for a different team tonight. Honking
  22. Scott Wright came on and was probably Rangers best player. Very direct and made a couple of chances. Stephen Kelly getting a whole minute now 😂
  23. I think that just shows how poor a judge of players Gemmell is than anything else. He keeps players far too long in qualifying squads. Hickey and Doig were playing week in and out and 2 Ayr United LBs kept them out. Then never playing Patterson as a RB. His list of poor decisions is far too long to list. Gemmell was talking about his career ambitions recently. Hopefully he is looking to get onto club management and some club is stupid enough to take him on. Even if he was to leave I fully expect Stark or some other honking long ball merchant to take over the role.
  24. McPake tore League 2 apart last season and has stepped up to League 1 to play under Stephen Robinson. Robinson is a very underated manager who is good at developing young players. Hopefully he has a good season. He went out too early on loan and it seemed to stunt his development.
  25. Aye it's something that has irritated me for years under Gerrard. We have some cracking young players who are on the cusp of being ready and he is afraid to give them minutes. People talk about how pragmatic Clarke is, but Gerrard is just as bad if not worse when it comes to young players. Kelly came on with 12 minutes to go and was impressive and done more than Arfield who came on earlier. Kelly should've started or even came on at halftime. He is more than ready for more minutes at Rangers. In the first leg against Malmö, Arfield was done by 50/60 minutes and Lundstrom was rotten. No one is going to tell me bringing fresh and hungry legs on in Kelly wouldn't have been a better option, than keeping 2 misfiring players on for 90 minutes. McCrorie (as #2), King, Kelly, McPake, Kennedy, Middleton and others are more than good enough to be squad options for Rangers. Patterson should be a starter as well. I previously gave Gerrard a lot of leeway when it came to young players as we had to stop Celtic winning 10iaR* but now that was stopped, he has to think about the longterm development of the club. Arfield is done and we should be phasing him out and trying to bring Kelly through.
