  1. As said before, he's not a striker so wouldn't use his goal tally as a stick to beat him with. He's hit a purple patch over the last couple of months. Needs to continue the form over the course of the season to be considered in my opinion. Also the fact that he wasn't a hit in the 21s 3 or 4 seasons ago doesn't mean he should be cast aside. Players develop differently and at different stages of their careers. Definitely one to keep on the radar but only after a much more prolonged period of form.
  2. Yip the fact that I think there is a big difference between competitive games and friendlies means that I think that new players can't come into the side! ?
  3. I think competitive and non competitive is a massive difference. When rolling out our goals conceded stats why don't you include friendlies?
  4. Greer only has 3 competitive caps the 2 Gib games and poland away. Strachan obviously gives him game time in friendlies and seems to not trust him generally when it matters. He's part of the "leaky" defence that conceded two in Warsaw which is your main issue with the team no?
  5. Surely we should be looking at what stopped us qualifying automatically not what we needed to do to sneak 3rd. More than just the Georgia game. Not good enough over a number of games. I include the Georgia home game in that as well. We were far from convincing. Ok we dominated possession but the way we play we don't create enough clear cut chances
  6. Mcarthur Griffiths Morrison and Rhodes all out
  7. Anyone else think we are overpriced at 19/10? Think lewandowski is totally skewing the market. I know he's probably the best striker in the world at the moment but he's not a Gareth bale type of player who will collect the ball 35 yards out beat a man and ping it top corner. Needs the service. Not totally convinced we'll win like but don't think we should be as long as 19/10
  8. Betting was suspended last weekend on Stuart Mccall. I wouldn't read too much into manager markets. Not saying yogi won't happen but it's not a certainty just because the bookies have suspended betting
  9. The u21s is only to prepare players for full international football. Would rather see someone given a chance in the full squad than held back for a "big" u21 qualifier. As PASTA mick said it like the squad to be made up of the 16/17 potential players v poland then filled with newbies
  10. You do know a draw with poland doesn't necessarily mean we are 4th?
  11. Germany will win in Dublin. They were superb tonight. If that happens then we have to better Ireland 's result v Poland for 3rd
  12. Pretty sure Saints had a guy Lynch who was on loan from Man utd and was captain of 21s but wasn't up to much. Sorry to put a damper on it. He may be fantastic.....
  13. Hutchison and Alexander not have Scottish parent(s)? I think a direct blood line there would make a person Scottish. That may be considered archaic by many right enough. As I said I have no problem with these guys representing their adopted homeland if they were brought up here and brought through the system. I just wouldn't have said that cases like Feruz and Rhodes as another example are actually Scottish, just eligible to represent Scotland.
  14. He'll likely struggle to get in the side behind Garner and Beckford. Good luck to him though, Eoin Doyle signed for them as well today
  15. The guy is eligible for Scotland but I personally wouldn't have said he is Scottish. The whole, "does he consider himself Scottish " doesn't really sit with me either. I'm not saying that you HAVE to be born in Scotland to be Scottish but this guy has basically moved to Scotland therefore is Scottish. I'm sure he's proud to represent his adopted homeland but doesn't mean he is Scottish. I think the same applies to the likes of Mo Farah etc
  16. Getting Germany knocked out in qualifying enhances our chances of lifting the trophy next summer......
  17. Not really in the grand scheme of things no. Goalscorer up here and would likely do well again if he came back up. Not really got the technical ability to progress much further
  18. Gauld scored the winner for Sporting b today
  19. May was never a link man he got most of his goals playing alongside Steven Maclean and his lean spell in his last season coincided with Macca being out injured. Unfortunately for Saints May is gone and Maclean isn't the player he was since his latest knee injury. No doubt May would do well back up here but nothing ever convinced me that he will be successful any higher than Wednesday. Not sure how he is now but at Saints he used to just get the ball and shoot from anywhere it got ridiculous at times
