  1. Don't watch much of Germany or Bayern Munich, but thought the tactic Neur taking a wee short pass (sometimes to the full back area!) at every goal kick was a bit strange. Was that out the ordinary for Neuer / Germany?
  2. Thats a huge PB! Well done. I was a couple of minutes out of mine but was first half for seven or eight months having been injured for a quite a while. I went off too fast early on and paid the price in the last couple of miles. Was really quite warm at times and I found myself really dehydrated towards the end. I enjoyed it though and was good to be back at that kind of distance. PS - I thought you said it would be flat!!
  3. I was a fan of him at United (putting me in a minority) although I'd readily concede he wasn't international standard. I've not watched him in Poland or Turkey either so can't comment on his progress. To be fair we're quite well served for left backs (other than Strachan's baffling choice of Whittaker on occasions) and wouldn't see the need to call him up. Strachan needs to come round to Andy Roberston being the number one left back, irrespective of who the opposition is - defensively is just as good (or just as bad depending on your viewpoint!)) as the rest of them, and far away our best LB going forward. And puts in the best crosses of any of our players.
  4. Been watching the Polish and Turkish league closely then?
  5. Yes - me. Looking forward to it Have you done it before? If so what's the course like?
  6. Bit mischievous this thread! 2nd top v bottom of the league, and therefore Aberdeen are of course favourites to win the match. A fortnight ago United were almost 100% relegated, and now have gave ourselves a glimmer of hope. I'm sure, even though there is all of a sudden a cause for a wee bit of optimism, most United fans will still have us as strong favourites to go down (granted could possibly change come 10pm tonight)
  7. Times are bit strained in the household this month, but have free tickets for Kelso races on Saturday and as I've still to tick that course off, so I'm keen to go anyway. We need to head off about half eight in the morning and was considering (rather than buying pints at circa £4.50 a time) taking a few cans into the racecourse (I think its OK to do that?). First race isn't until about two o'clock, so i was thinking of putting my beers in the freezer overnight and by the time we get to the races in the afternoon the beer will be sitting nicely chilled (and de-frosted!). I've never actually frozen beer though before - does it go funny? does the can expand massively?? Anybody know?
  8. Am I right in assuming you can get from Orly to Metz and Metz to Orly by train pretty easily? Nothing against anybody getting a bus, but there seems to be a real desire for folk to get buses organised for this journey making me think that maybe the train isn't as straight-forward as I had hoped.
  9. McNamara never got the best out of him. Under Houston he was a one trick pony but an effective one at that - his performance in the home tie v Dinamo Moscow being no greater example; United's tactics that were to get the ball to GMS and let him run at them - he ran then ragged. McNamara tried to change his style by changing wings and it just never worked for him. Not seen much of him in a Celtic jersey but gather he's not exactly setting the heather on fire
  10. Never seen that before. Yeah Souttar's definitely the best (furthest behind the goal) At least he done something in a United jersey
  11. For I want to see the back of Mixu, options at this minute are fairly limited. To be fair to Thompson options were also limited when Mixu was appointed and he clearly wasn't first choice for the job. Wouldnt be against your choices. I personally favour getting someone in to steer us to the end of the season (ridiculous though it sounds, Jimmy Calderwood? - cue Deecie) and see where we go from there. The main thing is to get Mixu away from the club sharpish.
  12. So far we've had posters fancying Rankine, Paton, Erskine and Muirhead and pretty sure we'd all agree that Blair Spittal seems a decent player. I've been making the point elsewhere that United's squad is surely comparable with any other side in the bottom six and the above would seem to emphasise that. Mixu has been a complete disaster from day 1 and should really have been given the bullet a while back to give us some kind of chance. Quite how he can't "get a tune" so to speak from that squad is a disgrace and brings his lack managerial skills to the fore. He's (somehow) been worse than his predecessor
  13. Anybody else do the Kirkintilloch 12.5k yesterday? Good little race, although conditions yesterday were very icy in places
  14. Yes of course. The point remains that the next draw is ages away, so if our UEFA / FIFA ranking goes down (or up) on the back of these friendlies, it will be irrelevant
  15. FIFA ranking is only of importance come world / euro draws. Given how long it is until the draw for Euro 2020 I wouldn't worry about our ranking for a while yet
  16. Do you know of any good reason why they can't schedule the re-match for this midweek. Makes sense to me. I suppose there might be some 'holy vow' of no midweek matches prior to cup weekend?
  17. I'll see how the next couple of weeks go and all being well I'll get entered later in the month Cheers!
  18. I'm considering entering the Inverness Half Marathon - but would prefer to wait a few weeks yet. Does anyone know if it typically sells out? (and thus should I just bite the bullet and get entered now)
  19. Apologies for hijacking this thread, but have you seen that Hereford is back open. They've had four fixtures transferred to them (from Worcester, Lingfield, Fontwell and somewhere else I can't remember). First fixture is in October. Does that give you another extra track still to visit then?
  20. I would guard against buying Karrimor (Sports Direct's own brand) when it comes to hillwalking footwear. They won't wall to bits don't get me wrong, but will in fairly quickly time let in water and the comfort won't be up to much. I can thoroughly recommend a pair of Scarpa's - granted there going to be twice the price, but they'll be ten times the value. Will last you ages too
  21. What was the exact quote by Regan about Metz?
