  1. Yugoslavia did not have longevity of success that Croatia have had and on top of that Serbia have come into being who, themselves are a challenge for many teams so there you have two tough opponents instead of one.
  2. I hope Clarke does not take the easy way out and name Christie as one of the strikers again.
  3. I do gave to disagree with this. Out of the former Yugoslav state (Yugoslavia one country that never achieved much) have come Serbia and Croatia who have been there or thereabouts at the business end of numerous major tournaments. The break up of the Soviet Union (again one team who were not perennial tournaments contenders by any means) has seen banana skin teams such as Georgia and Belarus (who we know are no mugs) come into being plus many others that have frequently tested us. Also back in the 80s and 90s your pushovers were the likes of Greece, Luxembourg, Finland and they are no pushovers now. Portugal too were not the force they are today nor were Belgium. Today international football is far more competitive. I fully agree with you about our pitiful record at producing prolific goalscorers. It really is very poor. You can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of Scotland internationals to score more than 20 goals and the last one retired almost 40 years ago. Dire stats.
  4. Well that opens up a striker slot in March as Brown is out too. Tommy Conway perhaps or Ryan Hardie?
  5. Any ideas on when this Hampden Park Ticketing App is actually coming into existence?
  6. Perhaps offer more rewards on less lucrative home games such as lowest ranked teams in groups which usually draws the lowest crowds. The diehards will be rewarded in that case and glory hunters (if we actually have them) will need to attend the crappy matches.
  7. Well that wouldn't work either as, if the argument is people cannot afford to go to every home game then they certainly won't be able to afford away games and all the extra costs that go with them.
  8. It would make sense to drop Christie back into the pool of midfielders for the squad leaving a space for Fraser's inclusion as a striker. I say this as Fraser has scored far more goals than Christie this season. If that were to happen though the question would become which midfielder gets left out?
  9. Yes I would take Gordon in a shot over Kelly and Clark but will Steve Clarke?
  10. 😂 Anyways Doig could not even force his way into the squad when Robertson and Tierney were injured so cannot see him managing it if both are fit.
  11. Not according to the grand misinformation site wikipedia.
  12. Ah yes of course....McKenna. He will go for sure in place of Souttar I would say.
  13. Bit of a myth that Doig is doing well. This season he lost his place in Verona side and since moving to Sassuolo has not played at all. Brown is almost certainly out with injury as is Nisbet. Our squad will probably be something like this:- Gunn, Clark, Kelly Hickey (if fit), Patterson, Porteous, Hendry, Hanley, Souttar, Robertson, Tierney McGinn, McGregor, McTominay, Ferguson, McLean, Gilmour, Christie, Armstrong Dykes, Adams, Shankland, Fraser
  14. Also goal for Adams and assist for Armstrong for Southampton.
  15. No by country of birth. No by country he has chosen to represent.
  16. Tierney on the subs bench for Real Sociedad tonight.
  17. Precisely. And its not a case of the SNP taking advantage of the situation either as the SNP stated early in the Palestine crisis where they stood demanding cease fire. Their stance (unlike unionist parties) has remained a constant.
  18. Are you for real? Lets look at the facts here:- The SNP have had the stance of complete ceasefire in Palestine since before Christmas. Labour have flip-flopped on this matter and held off criticizing Israel to any great degree even up to the past week. On hearing the SNP's plans to hold a complete cease fire vote they began to crap themselves and changed their stance to a slightly softer one knowing many of its own MP's would support the SNP vote. Fearing a big split in their party caused by the vote they decided to bend all the rules bending the speaker's ear (with threats if reports are to be believed) in order to have their vote held instead on a watered down ceasefire and surprise surprise it was upheld. Can you explain in any way that it is an SNP own goal?
  19. I still think to a General Election from around a decade ago when Scottish Labour were almost wiped out in Scotland. On the live TV coverage Ken Livingstone hit the nail on the head saying Scottish Labour had to cut all ties with the Westminster branch to gain some form of traction and trust.
  20. Well I would say that should definitely rule Brown out. Such an operation will surely rule him out until late April at least. On top of that its not like he is guaranteed to walk into the Luton side or that his form for us has made him a must select if fit regardless of club form. That should mean sure inclusion of Lawrence Shankland but do not see where Ryan Fraser fits in given that Ryan Christie has occupied a striker slot in our squads for so long now. The hope for Fraser would be that Christie is named as a midfielder (where he has played consistently for Bournemouth) freeing up that striker slot for him.
  21. Or the only alternative in this decrepit union is more Tory sleaze. Depressing thought.
  22. McKenna starts for FC Cooenhagen today in a league game.
  23. For me it is not as vital if results are still coming despite the odd poor performance by one or two players. The need for change comes when results in key matches dry up.
  24. If Tierney is not fit then no point in playing the left-side pivot as we are much less effective. I would prefer to go to a back four with Robertson L/B and Hickey or Patterson R/B. And perhaps play a defensive midfielder in front of back four.
