  1. Against an 18 year old Vincent Kompany, IIRC. Anderlecht have had a poor start to the season in the league (W1 D1 L2), so that should give some encouragement.
  2. Your point's a good one, BUT look how Derek Ferguson has grown into the job - never the most articulate but always an enthusiast, and thankfully never sent to Ibrox by the BBC. Covers Hamilton, Motherwell and Thistle pretty well - I even heard him use the word 'aforementioned' the other week. He was slated for being inarticulate when he first came on air. As was Ryan Stevenson, who also went on to be reasonably decent before going to Australia. Until you actually do the job....... Commons and McDonald are both articulate people who will hopefully eventually take the place of the 80s relics Miller and McLeod, so no issue with them cutting their teeth right now. If they have the odd wobbly moment, then so what? We've all had them in our jobs.
  3. Fourth goal was not clever at all, it has to be said.
  4. Are you denying that Celtic were rotten in the second half tonight?
  5. Disagree - as a pundit he's refreshingly nearer to Michael Stewart than Barry Ferguson, who couldn't even spell his own name let alone sign it. Mind you, if I had my way I'd ban the media from ever hiring anyone that had played for the ugly sisters. In which case we'd be left with Michael Stewart, Steven Craigan, Alan Preston and Willie Miller...........................nah in hindsight maybe not......................
  6. Celtic were damn lucky to get anywhere near 5 last week - 3 shots on target all night remember? And then the media went into overdrive and maybe many bought into it. A bit of humble perspective came knocking tonight, though. Good wake up call for you, hopefully you won't get found out as badly as you did last year now.
  7. A serious move to sell more home tickets? Then sort out the pricing structure. If they are so competent with spreadsheets, then the answer is staring them straight in the face from attendances over the last 5 years - the casual fan isn't interested at current price levels. Introducing a membership scheme will turn even more people off. As for selling more memberships, the diehards are on board already. They aren't going to persuade anyone else at 50 quid a campaign for the mere promise of a ticket. Another thing - there are a number of us around the globe for whom getting back to Glasgow for a home game isn't viable for cost reasons and not having unlimited leave entitlement. Add that to the cost of tickets as mentioned above. For some of us it is more practical to commit to away games, hence why the away points system should stay as it is (i.e. attendance at away games is the only criterion), and a new club be introduced for home games. Otherwise leave everything as it is - it's working fine as it stands and is administratively manageable for the SFA. So why introduce further complexity?
  8. Celtic were sloppy last week and got away with it, and were sloppy this week and got away with it. The OG was unlucky, fair enough, but the first five minutes of the second half were criminal. That lad scores for 5-1 after 75 minutes instead of blazing it over the bar then who knows......................
  9. How the f*ck Lafferty was ever allowed to play in Scottish football after that beggars belief.
  10. After that game I had a discussion with WeeBarry'sGotanMBE on here who had been at the game and maintained that the red card was justified on the basis of his view at the game. I asked him to see the replay and then review his opinion. He did, and to his credit revised his opinion to somewhere still a little bit north of 'Lafferty's a cheating '.
  11. This. The SFA strategy with this one is to introduce home games to the 'loyalty programme'as 'silver handcuffs' for the purpose of raising attendances to home games that wouldn't otherwise sell out. By doing so they are hoping to generate enough extra bodies so that they don't have to address the real issue with home games - which is the ludicrously overpriced ticketing strategy.
  12. Curious stats - Celtic had three shots on target all night, and yet won 5-0.
  13. Ach, I'll try to introduce something different to generate some interest round here. So it's the nice and safe Eric Clapton and JJ Cale in San Diego 2007 to start you off folks.
  14. Jags fan, Debian. So stop guessing, cos your radar ain't no good. Wish you a good evening though - no problem with a bit of healthy debate on here.
  15. The beloved Kris Boyd thought it was a penalty. Case closed.
  16. Maybe stop guessing and watch the whole game before you comment then? And can the personal stuff, that's a major reason this message board is going to the trash bin (and no, you are in no way a cause of this - there are plenty others). I agree with you re the officials. In particular, the Cadden goal kick incident was an embarrassment to people with functioning eyesight..
  17. Selective nonsense. By that standard Motherwell were due a penalty in the first half.
  18. Cut it out. Every keeper in the world would have anticipated a ball across the goal on that move.
  19. Of those 3, English is common across the most continents, which probably why it's perceived as being the most universal.
