  1. I'm not suggesting it's the only reason but going on most of our recent managers' squad selections, the fact that only three or four of the bunch from that game have a realistic Celtic and/or Premiership connection will rule them out of being picked.
  2. A link from the article linked tells us the following: "Bella Hadid, 18, flashes a hint of sideboob in skimpy top as she holds hands with her rumoured boyfriend The Weeknd, 25, during date night in NYC" So, so many things wrong with that one sentence
  3. Haven't downloaded the FIFA demo yet but had a go at PES last night. Actually think I preferred it to FIFA 15 but will give 16 a go before deciding which one to buy. FIFA still feels to me like there are certain ways to score against the computer that are guaranteed to work - been like that since the early days. Could just be that I'm not quite into it enough to spend enough time figuring it all out mind you.
  4. If we beat Poland and Ireland beat Germany then a draw between Poland and Ireland in the last match will put us out. Any other result for Ireland against Germany leaves it in our hands if we beat Poland. That game really is the big one. Sounds quite straightforward when it's written down (as long as I've done my sums properly
  5. It was interesting watching the game on telly last night. With 5 min left the usual Sky Sports bar popped up advertising the next big game they'd be showing. Now, considering we were watching Scotland v Germany, you'd be safe to assume they were going to mention Aberdeen v Celtic this Saturday. Did they fcuk. Man Utd v Liverpool. Before agreeing to take their money the SFA should be making it a condition that during Scotland games the only football mentioned is Scottish games. But that would require a set of balls and some self-confidence, which we all know is sadly lacking.
  6. I can only speak for my area but the developments in kids football since I was a boy here have been huge. Thanks to the work of a few extraordinarily dedicated coaches, there's a thriving kids football scene from ages 3-16ish. IMO that more than makes up for less kids kicking a ball about, which you do still actually see quite a lot of. Of course I'm in a tiny part of the country so this might not be being replicated across the country but I'd like to hope that it is.
  7. Pretty good summary there. I think the way you describe Strachan as being from the era who believe in the importance of the Old Firm, also applies to most administrators, managers and coaches. at our top clubs too and therefore they've got to take a share of the blame. If the other clubs in Scotland were led by people who weren't afraird to upset the apple cart then the SFA and SPFL could be changed at a stroke. Unfortunately, they're all content to live with things as they currently are and can't see the wood for the trees. Short of mass boycotts and thereby bankrupting the game so we have to start again, what can fans actually do?
  8. All things being equal I think you'd rather be in our shoes that Ireland's. However, the inequality is that we've been shyte since beating Ireland and so I'm not confident in the slightest of taking anything off Poland as they're better than anyone we played between the Ireland game at Parkhead and last night.
  9. I'd expect them to develop a winning mentality because they're professional sportsmen and it should be ingrained in them, not dependent on the attitude of some supporters. No way the supporters' thoughts should affect the players themselves, that's crazy. If it was true you'd be as well putting the supporters on the pitch and not bothering with the players!
  10. We don't have many technically competent players in the squad. I'd rather see a team of young boys who can hopefully control and pass a ball, with a decent first touch, than a bunch of triers who aren't actually footballers. Question is, who is there that we can put in? I thought Bannan looked like he could play a bit earlier in his career but he's totally off the radar.
  11. I'd have Fletcher in before Brown, Morrison or McArthur, not fussed which one misses out for him but since him and Morrison play together for WBA then it seems reasonable to pair them for us given how badly disjointed the midfield looked on Friday.
  12. Seems crazy to me that Darren Fletcher doesn't seem to be getting a look in. He's played at a higher level than anyone else in the squad and he's enjoying almost the best run of games of his career so fitness isn't an issue. He's also guaranteed to be the most professional member of the squad and won't be intimidated by Germany. If the team mentioned above is correct, that would make Fletcher fourth choice centre mid at best. That's crazy.
  13. Not suggesting for a minute that we get rid of Strachan but a couple of comments from him since Friday have got my goat. Firstly, from a bbc article ""The work rate with this squad is unquestionable. These guys play for Scotland for nothing." Fcuk me, if we need to be paying them to put in the effort then the game really is a bogey. If he's so thankful to them just for turning up then it doesn't say much for their motivation. Secondly, talking about Chris Martin over the Thumb ""I think his scoring record is as good as anybody's over the last two years and in a more competitive league as well." I know he won't be alone in thinking that the Championship is a better league than our premier league but does he really need to say it? The first comment is probably just him sticking up for his players but the second one can't exactly have been very motivating for Griffiths and all the other SPL players in the squad too. Lets face it, an XI picked from the SPL wouldn't have done any worse than the championship haddies who (didn't) play on Friday,
  14. Entirely your choice I just don't get the logic. Or are Celtic your big team?
  15. Definitely something up with a fan of any Scottish team who would prefer Celtic to win the league over another club (except Rangers and they cannae win it just now) so if it isn't bitterness then what is it?
  16. You'd rather Celtic won the league than Aberdeen? Bitter much?
  17. The American system is all well and good when the sports are more or less centred around one country. Unless every football playing country in the world (or at least all the big European nations) agreed to change the system then it would never work in Scotland.
  18. Putting stats can be looked at loads of ways - are you hitting loads of greens in regulation and therefore having less chips/putts? Could explain why you feel you putted well?
  19. I've seen a guy try to do that in a Texas scramble but never known it to happen in real golf!
  20. I like the pro v for my irons but the TaylorMade tour preferred x and Bridgestone Tour B330s both go better off the tee. They're not exactly terrible round the greens so that, and the fact that they can generally be found cheaper and last a bit longer than the pro v, gets them the nod.
  21. Only worth it if, when it comes of age/you decide to bottle it, you can sell most of it back to the distillery or to another company and keep a few bottles for yourself or your old man. The purchase cost isn't too bad, neither are the storage or bottling costs, but when it's bottled you need to pay spirits duty and that's a killer. Only possible exception is if you can find a much smaller than normal cask from somewhere.
  22. £240 back from a tenner on Swansea, Middlesborough, Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee and Falkirk.
  23. If we're getting properly geeky with balls, bags etc: Titleist sta dry bag TaylorMade tour preferred x balls Nike lunar control shoes Galvin Green waterproofs No wonder "normal" folk think golfers are weird
  24. Had a go at that for a while (you can tell from these posts that my putting has been a bit "inconsistent" over the years ) Found that it worked well on putts that didn't require any feel but anything on a tricky line was a bit more difficult. Long putts cack handed were a total non-starter for me. Still get tempted to go back to it but I think I'd need a lot more practice time than I can spare these days to go to it fully.
  25. I think there is a fad element to these grips but it works for me so I'm quite happy. I do feel that it keeps my putting stroke a bit more solid or in one piece as the wrists are definitely kept a lot more quiet.
