  1. I think Clarke not seeing him does deserve a wow. He's been raved about all season in a team that are fighting to stay in the league and Clarke hasn't even spoke to him. He surely has to be played in these friendlies before the Euros and hopefully in the squad, especially now we've got the 3 extra spaces.
  2. Hardly seen any fitba at the weekend, but caught 5 mins before Newcastle - Arsenal and heard Arteta saying that Tierney will most likely be back in 2-3 games. Could be a bit of fortune for us, maybe plays some minutes in the Europa or final game of the season and is ready for the Euros.
  3. Cheers. I wanted to give you a greenie/plus but cannot seem to find them.
  4. PS Does anyone know the exact time of counting? I believe its on the Friday and Saturday, but is it a case of 9-5 on Friday and then back in on the Saturday, or will they count til say 10pm on Friday and then Saturday again?
  5. Maybe I am too optimistic, but I can see Alba getting at least one seat e.g his. Surely they'll get over 5-6% in the NE region - and it's a massive region Dundee to Banff. I was hoping to find a Alba over 0.5 seats punt somewhere, but the bookies are offering slim pickings this year. Only thing on 365 is most seats ; most seats outwith the SNP and SNP majority or not odds. SNP are 1/100 for most seats and the SNP majority or not is basically evens each way. Like Loon said, after the initial shite in the press about him being a thorn in the SNP's side etc, it'll calm down and he/they'll be a rather good opposition, much rather a pro-indy opposition poking the SNP with a stick than a clown like Galloway or another Alexander Burnett or Cole-Hamilton sitting in Holyrood.
  6. Agree and cheers for the update on Aberdeenshire and Banff area. I know an SNP activist in his 50s and again, no idea how true this is, but he said he thinks if young people vote then the Greens will do well. He also thinks Alba will have a good night. Greens having a good night for me is them winning seat(s) and increasing their vote ; Alba winning one seat would be a success for a party started 4 weeks go. I'm like you in the sense that I am not too sure how it will go either. Two polls out today! SNP's constituency vote up a few percentage and Alba in one poll a bawhair fae a seat and the other on about 3 (according to Curtice) Panelbase : Constituency - SNP 48%, Con 21%, Lab 20%, Libs 7% List - SNP 39%, Con 22%, Lab 16%, Greens 8%, Libs 7%, Alba 4% BMG : Const - SNP 49%, Lab 21%, Con 20% Libs 9% List - SNP 37%, Con 22%, Lab 16%, Green 9%, Libs 8%, Alba 4% A4U on about 2% in both polls.
  7. It's a lofty dream, and agree, it won't happen, but we use too much plastic and if they get the ball rolling and make some progress on this and awareness around the general population I would be happy. Look at how recycling went from basically zero to everything in the space of ten years. There's far too many products covered in plastic.
  8. Aye, good post and I cannot imagine they'll do well up your neck of the woods, but maybe they'll get enough in Aberdeen, Dundee, etc to win them seat. They are by no means perfect, but a bit like the Pirate Party in Iceland (don't fully support them either, but they're a ''good'' opposition to have and to shake up parliament). How's tricks up your way? Been reading on Twitter - so take it with a pinch of salt etc- but a lot of unhappy former fisherfolk who feel shafted by the Tories, so you wonder if they'll vote Alba (EEA rather than EU). Fingers crossed, well I doubt you will be for a Green, but if we can get two pro-indies in on the list over a Lib and Tory, I'll be delighted. Only worry is Alba get 4.5% and the Greens something similar and 0.. We'll have a good wee idea next weekend at this time.
  9. I was swithering bigtime too, and closer to doing the X it was almost a toss of a coin, or 51-49 Green. If we get at least a Alba and Green list MSP, I'll be happy. I know of two others who went SNP/Green ; two SNP/SNP and one has gone SNP/Alba. These people all voted SNP in 15 and 16 ; didn't vote at all in 17 and voted SNP in December 2019. The SNP x2 voters were close to voting for Alba, but they heard from a neighbour who's and older activist inside the SNP who said the SNP were on course to lose 3 seats in the North East (probably shite, scare mongering TBH) so I think they felt a bit worried. I believe you can change your vote?! Up to polling day?! Loon, I'm not fully sold on the Greens, but a lot of their stuff is excellent - land reform ; workers rights ; four day week ; cannabis legislation ; ending plastic use by 2025 ; prison reform but there's also things I know wouldn't work either. My fear is the Greens and Alba both end up about 500 votes short of a list seat each, if that happens and lets in a Tory and Lib on the list, I'll greet but I'm quietly optimistic we can get both in.
  10. I voted for SNP/Greens NE constituency. Was slightly tempted to vote for Alba, but have stuck with the Greens. Alba cranks put me off constantly going on about the trans issue and Wings being an absolute roaster. Greens hold is holding up between 8-12% in the polls so that will do. I do think Alba will get at least one seat e.g Eck ; but it'll be touch and go if they get 4-5 MSPs and their share of the vote which I think will be between maybe 4-7% Who knows though, I'm just a gobshite with a keyboard and an internet connection. Overall - think the SNP will end up on about 62 seats or something possibly lose 1-3 seats ; Tories on about 25 (-5) ; Labour 22 or so ; Greens anywhere between 7-12 ; Lib Dems 4-5 and Alba 1-5.
  11. Cheers Tidy and Orra, didn't know that at all! Some life he had.. Most important question : HIbee or Jambo?
  12. Seen on another thread "surprised he lived so long," I don't know too much about him or his lifestyle, but anyone have any detail in to what that could be referring to? Booze, drugs, health issues? RIP to Les, and 65 is no age at all. Not heard a lot of their stuff, and it was before my time, but some of the hits are guilty pleasures and really catchy.
  13. My anecdotal non-scientific evidence from the last few elections. 2015 - 5 people I know all voted SNP 2016 - I think the same folk were SNPx2. 2017 - all 5 for some reason or another didn't vote. Lack of engagement in the campaign, lethargy, shite SNP campaign, who knows, but these same people did not vote at all. 2019 - they all turned out and voted SNP again. 2021 - all 5 of them are in the Angus South/NE area and know of the 'system' of voting and reasonably engaged in politics. 2 went SNP/SNP (one was leaning Alba, the other Green) yet they ticked both votes SNP and sent off their vote ; 2 went SNP/Green ; 1 SNP/Alba. Suppose we'll see in a couple of weeks how that shapes up, but I think Alba and the Greens may well get a list MSP! Reckon Eck should do it with his base in the NE (it's huge region too from basically Broughty Ferry to the Highlands). The two that went SNP twice know the system, but believe were speaking to a friend who's an SNP activist who told them the SNP will lose 3 seats in the NE (no idea how legit that is) but I thought it was shite to be honest ; so think it scared them in to SNP x 2. Sit tiight and see if those SNP list votes are of any use.
  14. An United Ireland will look different to what Sinn Fein are dreaming of. Wouldn't be surprised if things like Stormont, NI football team etc would even stay. The Unionists might always end up in power too as a junior coalition partner or like the DUP/Tory deal too. So a united Ireland would serve the likes of Mike Nesbitt etc very well.
  15. Ironic, that Ireland was seen as a 'backwater' in the ol' days and you could tell if you had left NI and entered Ireland by the (free) state of the roads. Fast forward a few years, and Ireland is -for some of its faults e.g far too neo-liberal, IMO - but a much modern and progessive thinking state than Northern Ireland by a country mile. Scotlad sums it up well in they are protesting for a Union that doesn't give two fecks for them. It must really baffle Unionists when they come to 'the mainland' and everyone who speaks to them barring a few at Ibrox or Douglas Ross, most just see them as Irish. Boris Johnson's PA or whoever runs his Twitter site only put out a Tweet about this last night and was basically the Father Ted down with this, careful now. And for the ones who will jump ship, how much of that is all talk? No doubt some will ; but most of these people won't have the time, finance, or effort to up sticks and move to a different country or 'across the water,' You've got folk here in Scotland saying the same about independence or the SNP even taking power. They are all here, and they'll all still be if we do become independent barring a wealthy, elite few who may well be able to run off. At the end of the day, The DUP do need to take the flak for all this. They voted and encouraged this. They were warned by everyone that the Tories would eventually feck them over, heck even Lord Carson said it best a decade ago "What a fool I was! I was only a puppet, and so was Ulster, and so was Ireland, in the political game that was to get the Conservative Party into Power."
  16. It means very little in the grand scheme of things, but its interesting possibly to me. Know of 5 SNP voters who voted SNP in 2015 ; for whatever reason didn't vote in 2017 ; but came back to vote SNP in 2019. These same people are voting in the Angus South constituency - SNP/Graeme Dey and Green on the list. I'm surprised that all of them are going Green. Fingers crossed it gets a Green in and hopefully an Alba MSP too at the expense of a Tory and Lib.
  17. He really is. I'd even take Jackson Carlaw hanging on to his seat over ACH losing his.
  18. Ireland have some decent young players coming through, they were a baw hair away from qualifying for the U21s tournament, and their 17s and 19s have been to tournaments of late. We too had a purple patch few years ago at that level as well, and it doesn't necessarily mean they will make the grade at the next level , but there's certainly some promising footballers coming through there. If Kenny is the man to guide them, I don't know. Imagine if Rice, Grealish and Bamford had pledged to play for them, they might be in a different situation altogether.
  19. Yes, I think that was their first ever game too! I rave about them to anyone who listens - which isn't many these days hah - but a town the size of Falkirk is their population basically. IIR there was a poll a year or two ago about best fans-per-population size in attending domestic leagues was 1) Faroes 2)Us 3)Norway.
  20. PS The Faroes are no San Marino, Gibraltar or Andorra. They are a decent side and recently went about 9 games undefeated albeit in the Nations League D, still though, they are massive improvement to what they were 30 years ago. They have not lost by more than 4 goals since 2017! I wonder if they can get a result against Israel or Austria ; I'll take a 1-0 win in Tórshavn right now for us if possible. Also two games against Denmark! Their big rivals, with their ever improving side, you never know they might get a huge result at home against them.
  21. Israel beat Austria in the last campaign, so ideally the same again and for Austria to beat them in Vienna. The group is fairly wide open. Israel will also be fancying second as well, and maybe the Austrians will look at the 2-2 with us as a good result after last night. I thought at the start whoever wins in the Faroes, Israel and Moldova will win the group. Denmark have won in Israel and Austria, so they are firm favourites to win this now. 5 pts in the next set of fixtures - Austria, Denmark (a) and Moldova (h) would put us in a decent position. Anyways, I reckon there's a lot of games to go and us getting a draw in Tel Aviv might actually end up being a decent result in the long run - if for second place -
  22. Dykes will be an excellent sub. Someone to bring on with 25 minutes to go and if we are 2-1 up e.g against the Czechs or so ; we won't be relying on him for a goal but his determination, hold up play and for want of a better word his running about is a good asset to have in the squad.
