  1. I'm sure we've all had this argument before and it's been proven that a decent manager can improve average teams (Rep Ireland, N Ireland, Iceland etc)
  2. Unfortunately, this is bang on.
  3. Not a surprise though is it. The team was wrong, the squad was wrong and the tactics have been wrong for about 2 yes. Negative pish that has no idea how to turn the game around.
  4. Is there a chance that one of those three left backs would be capable of a actually playing at right back instead, if needed. Surely that would be an easier option, especially since Martin is needed in the middle.
  5. If he's playing international football, I'd expect him to be a good football player, but, for a striker, goals are a big statistic, and frankly Fletcher doesn't cut it.
  6. Our best no 9 by some distance? 9 goals for Scotland, 6 of which came against Gibraltar and another 2 came against Iceland, back when they were crap and Malta. Having guys like him as our main striker are the reason we don't qualify for anything anymore. Even Kenny Miller had a better record.
  7. Really? Not exactly a team of world beaters, but they do have a good manager. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2016/teams/team=58/squad/index.html
  8. Cheers, I think. The thing is, before this Euros, we could hide behind this "the players are crap" excuse, but now, look at the teams that as there. No disrespect to them but do N Ireland, Rep Ireland, Iceland, Albania, Slovakia, and Hungary generally have better players than us. I'm sure somebody will come back with mentioning Hamsik playing for Napoli or Sigurrdson at Swansea, but can many people name many more of the players from Iceland or Slovakia playing at the top level?
  9. Neither do the Irelands, yet both of them are at the Euros this summer, one if them at our expense.
  10. Lol, aye unfortunately, and I do mean unfortunately as I had high hopes for Strachan.
  11. Really, so why are we the only home nation not at the Euros then? Not even good enough for a playoff with only one bad result? We only won one game against our main opposition in the group and as you say lost against Georgia, when all our rivals got maximum points against them. Not good enough.
  12. What, exactly do you consider "doing a bad job". We barely manage a shot on goal let alone score! If this is true, then we really are fecked. For his supposed class, Fletcher loses possession constantly. Agree 100%. Holding mid is the ONLY position Mulgrew should play for Scotland. There or not at all.
  13. A load of pish. Our players are on a par with N Ireland and Rep Ireland, and excluding Bale and Ramsey, Wales too. They countries are all in the finals this summer, while we couldn't even manage a playoff. I was a big fan of Strachan and was desperate for him to get the job, but for me he's been a big disappointment. Sick of seeing teams that are designed to prevent goals, not to score them. Two friendlies, albeit against Italy and France and we managed 3 shots on goal. Not on target, on goal. Nowhere near good enough.
  14. Both pish. Personally, I think Adidas have been a disaster, apart from the 2nd home kit.
  15. Exactly, but I'm sure Caledonian Craig will be along with the alternatives any time now. I don't have an issue with people having an opinion, but at least have an alternative to debate instead of blaming another part of the team which isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Remember, if you take away the Gibraltar games, Fletcher has scored 2 goals for Scotland, and in my lowly opinion not brought a great deal more to the table. Surely using Caledonian Craigs logic, it's actually the strikers fault we didn't manage the play offs since it was the strikers that not only didn't score in Georgia, but didn't even manage a shot on target.
  16. Think you'll find there was a bit more to my quote. Yes, I could have worded it better but didn't think I'd need to spell out my point. Lambert scored 28 goals in 75 games with an average Southampton side in the EPL, not sure where the risk is.
  17. So, one transfer and four almosts is risk taking? How many foreign strikers were brought in in the same windows? And WBA didn't take any risk with Lambert, he had already proven he could score in the EPL. A risk would have been buying him three years ago when he had "only" been scoring in the Championship, similar to Rhodes.
  18. Not necessarily. Nobody took a risk on Richie Lambert or Charlie Austin, both of whom scored goals plenty of goals in the lower leagues and continued to do reasonably well in the EPL when they got there. Maybe its just not cool to have British strikers at clubs in the Premiership.
  19. You are deluded. Not only did they not "find the net", they didn't even have a shot at it. Also, if you take Gibraltar out of the equation, we scored 10 goals in 8 games, an average of just over 1 goal a game. Not exactly $hit hot eh.
  20. This great attack you speak of scored only 1 goal against Georgia and couldn't even manage a shot on goal in Tblisi. Ireland beat them home and away. Goals for and against are irrelevant, only the results matter.
  21. You are correct, but who expected us to take three points in Dublin, but not Georgia? Losing in Tblisi when all our rivals won there cost us a play off spot.
  22. Personally not too fussed if Strachan walks (incidentally I way desperate for him to get the gig). On the other hand do I trust the SFA to bring in a suitable replacement? Maybe Strachan will stay and learn from his errors, might be our best hope.
  23. Why is this guy not our no 1 striker? Was listening to the radio going into work on Thursday night and the discussion was whether Fletcher of Griffiths should start. Really? Fletcher, I can sort of go with, being the Premiership striker, but has only scored 20 goals in the last 3 seasons and isn't exactly an automatic pick for a $hit Sunderland side. Griffiths has scored 52 goals in the last 4 seasons, including this season in a dominant team. And in the same time, Rhodes has scored 82 goals at a better level. And yes, the Championship is a better level than the Scottish Premiership. We should be building our side around this type of talent rather than playing him down cause he supposedly can't play a a link up striker. That system hasn't done us much good in the last 20 years.
  24. Can't go due to work shifts changing. Tickets in the main stand, paid £42 will accept £30 due to time constraints. PM me if interested.
