  2. "Schroedinger's Budget" Shamelessly nicked from twitter.
  3. "Ed Balls has pledged to eliminate the current account deficit "as soon as possible" in the next parliament, refusing to name a particular date. Were Labour to balance the budget as early as 2017-18, the difference between the two parties would be large. But were it to wait until 2019-20, the gap would only be around £14bn" My emphasis. That looks dangerously like an assumption, which has made it into the headline. Tut tut. Also, only around £14bn? Sounds like quite a lot of money to me.
  4. Where's that 'like' button? The point seems to be that you're unable to prove a negative. Shame on you!
  5. We're due a win against them, but sadly I doubt it'll be this year. I do hope I'm wrong though. At least Finn Russell's back.
  6. Plenty of other stuff to do on Islay, aside from the distilleries. And there's the Machrie - what a links that is!
  7. Oh aye, pensions. Do you not think the solution to public sector workers having 'gilt-edged' pensions is for private companies to offer similar? Or do the higher wages available in the private sector not compensate for the lower pensions? I can't understand the mindset that thinks 'why do they get that?' rather than 'why don't I get that?'.
  8. Er, aye. This argument is slightly undermined by the consistent failure of every privatised industry to perform more efficiently, or to make any kind of savings while ensuring continuity of service.
  9. A year or two after Ayr knocked Killie out of the Scottish Cup, when Andy Walker scored his chipped penalty, Tommy played in a Killie v Ayr Legends match at Somerset. Being a relative young'un, it was the only time I actually saw him play, but he looked a class act even among some very good players who took part. Having naturally been on the end of some fairly good natured abuse from the Somerset Road End, Killie were awarded a penalty in front of us. Tommy proceeded to copy Andy Walker's chip, right down to running along the bye-line, arms outstretched in celebration! Magic.
  10. Aye, I know. Don't quite understand why he feels the need to have a pop at you in every post. I'm not sure you're exactly crying inside about it, mind!
  11. "David Cameron never mentions it, but the Conservative Party won a by-election in Birmingham, and they sent out little kids with leaflets that said, 'If you want a nigger for a neighbour, vote Liberal or Labour.' And if political correctness has achieved one thing, it's to make the Conservative Party cloak its inherent racism behind more creative language."
  12. I don't really follow the reasoning for the U.K. being an appropriate 'unit' in which socialism can be introduced, but an independent Scotland not being so? I think perhaps that (counter-intuitive though it may be to the internationalism of most socialist ideas) it would be easier to argue for, and achieve socialism in a smaller state than a larger one.
  13. As a national asset, it does indeed belong to ShedTA, as in the same way it belongs to the rest of us.
  14. Ivan Dobsky, the Meatsafe Murderer? ("Only ah nivva dun it. Ah only sed ah dun it so they'd call aff the monkey tattooist....")
  15. In case anyone objects to funding DIana stories: https://archive.today/IO3k6
  16. I like the part where he's compared to Ronaldo Nazario (fat Ronaldo). That guy was astonishingly good even with glass knees.
