  1. Maybe. I never heard any no voter talk about social justice or a fairer society mind you
  2. It obviously wasn't there main concern or they would have voted yes or maybe they bought the idea that both could be achieved through a Labour government.
  3. I tend to agree. In that I can see why some would think that. Although the union isn't a partnership, I don't see how any no voter could claim it is. I guess yes supporters have to accept that there's people in Scotland who do well out the union and don't want change, they aren't motivated by social justice or a fairer society, well not enough to vote for it.
  4. The next referendum date depends on a few things but the most important thing is Westminster and how they decide to govern in the next couple of years. Scotland wants change. It wants things to get better. If that change isn't forthcoming then there's already a large minority who want independence
  5. 1.6 million voted yes. If these people still want independence then there's only one party to vote for in general and Scottish elections. The battle for all parties is keeping people engaged in politics
  6. Why though? I've always identified as Scottish not British but I'd have voted no if I thought it was better for Scotland. And you could argue you still will be if and when Scotland votes for independence.
  7. Deep breaths everyone. The loyalists / unionists types seen in George Sq are a very small minority and should be pityed more than anything. These people are beyond reasoning with. No voters should be encouraged on here to say why they voted no. Sure I doubt I'll agree with their reasoning but people were scared or not convinced by the yes campaign, as difficult that is to take it should be respected. Think it was glasgowmancity who said he voted no but was close to voting yes. We'll win more of these votes next time when the sad realisation hits that the change Scotland wants can't be achieved with a Westminster government. Keep the heid. Remain positive. Vote SNP and watch Westminster this up themselves
  8. This all depends on Westminster and their decisions in the coming years. Labour politicians said that social justice and creating a better more equal society was better achieved by voting no. As a yes supporter I believe that to be nonsense. If I'm wrong I'll accept that and independence will go away. But if not then the topic of independence won't go away because nearly half the country wanted it and likely will continue to want it if the above chances don't happen. I want the SNP to win in 2016 because right now I wouldn't trust anyone else to govern Scotland.
  9. The division goes away if Westminster delivers more powers to Scotland and governs in a way that the majority of people in Scotland are happy with. It was never independence for independence sake, it was about making Scotland a better country. Problem is that when I listen to Westminster politicians I know the above won't happen.
  10. This. The SNP are in potentially a great position. Sturgeon is right. Let Westminster this up and pick up the pieces from there. Scotland wants change. That's why there was a referendum. It narrowly lost. But the change craved by the majority in Scotland won't come and that's when we push for another referendum but need to accept that might be 10+ years away. Interesting times ahead.
  11. Apology not accepted. No one from the yes campaign should apologise, not even Salmond. From being completely devastated Friday, I'm now remarkably positive for Scotland's future because of people like Flure and everyone else on this board and on the streets of Scotland campaigning for a yes vote. Scotland's future is safe in your hands. This is a process. 45% or 1.6 million voting yes despite the entire establishment being against it is remarkable. It hurts getting so close but that's only natural. Scotland wants change. Westminster rule won't deliver that change. Independence will happen in my lifetime.
  12. That was brilliant. Basically says everything I've been thinking but in an obviously more articulate way.
  13. They voted for a corrupt neoliberal state. The past 4 years I've learned to dispise everything about Westminster and it's politics. I know people were scared, I know there was risks but I genuinely thought Scotland would reject that way to govern for something better. "I voted no because my wife is an accountant, she has a degree in economics and she says it won't work" Dumbfounded.
  14. There's very little to be proud of in Westminster politics and how it decides to govern its population.
  15. You won because of the media. And it's not a victory if you scare people into voting no, which better together have did from day one and Westminster all my life.
  16. That exists? I really hope I know more about women in an independent Scotland
  17. "UK built on the nhs and welfare state together" I cannot express how much I loathe this cretin
