  1. Decent article by former Labour MP David Marquand making the point that the idea of 'Britain' as a nation state is total guff. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jan/13/britain-doesnt-really-exist-exit--eu
  2. Seems like a genuinely decent guy going by this piece: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/jan/12/graham-taylor-watford-rescued-paul-mcgrath-aston-villa
  3. Ha ha - Have ended up going down that route a few times and wondering afterwards what the feck happened...
  4. Seemed like a decent guy and always came across well on the radio. He wasn't too lucky with the England team he inherited but he gave some right donkeys a cap : Carlton Palmer...
  5. My fellow Americans. Our nation is gravely imperilled by a threat to its very existence. Decisive action must be taken to counter this aggression. But first a word from our sponsors...
  6. It's terrible - it's almost bad as that businessman a while back who said that Obama wasn't born in the US and who linked Ted Cruz’s dad to the JFK assassination based on nothing other than internet chatter. Whatever happened to him?
  7. The press conference this afternoon could get fractious: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read/ten-questions-donald-trump-n705626
  8. Cheers - on the website now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b083w2ny
  9. He's the guy who assaulted a marathon runner at the Athens Olympics and later got nearly run over by running on the track at the British Grand Prix.
  10. Cheers - thought so...
  11. Anyone get one of these? It went to the email address I use for SSC emails rather than my usual one so it looks as if the SSC database has been hacked (I've not bought anything from the SSC for a good while). There was a dodgy looking hyperlink which I didn't click. Dear Customer, Please find attached invoice INV-01951 (Amended) for 170.00 GBP. This invoice was sent too early in error. The payment date should be 7th December 2016. Kindly accept our apologies for the oversight and for any inconvenience caused. The amount outstanding of 170.00 GBP is due on 07 Dec 2016. 12. We've got a spare for tonight if anyone's interested...
  13. Heading down to Glasgow today for tonight's gig at the Barrowlands - can't wait!
  14. There was a Supreme Court case back in the 60s allowing burning of the flag as a constitutional right (the First Amendment right to freedom of expression). I think he'll eventually get fed up of being told that there are checks and balances and limits to his authority and he won't serve more than one term. Most of his tweets read like the sort of thing that a leader might say after a long day, in an unguarded moment when he thinks the tape isn't running, and which ends up with the press office going into immediate damage limitation or 'deflect and deny' mode. I do wonder if he's ever paused before pressing 'send' and deleted the post instead - seems unlikely.
  15. Klinsmann now fired as US coach http://worldsoccertalk.com/2016/11/21/jurgen-klinsmann-sacked-us-soccer-team/ Could do a job somewhere else though...
  16. Dies aged 82... A unique talent. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/music/live/2016/nov/11/leonard-cohen-death-tributes-singer-songwriter-live?client=safari
  17. Farage is now going to lead a mob of 100,000 to the Supreme Court as the Brexit appeal starts and has predicted civil unrest. The guy's an unreconstructed fascist. I hope they've got a decent sprinkler system in the building.
  18. Fantastic film - I can quote chunks of dialogue out of it and occasionally drop references to the Colonel with his wee beady eyes into conversation. I should possibly get out more...
  19. Anyone else spot Heid from So I Married An Axe Murderer amongst the Thistle fans during the minute's silence? Fair play to him but you wouldn't want him sitting right in front of you..
  20. A guy on the 5Live phone in this morning was on the verge of tears at the thought that Parliament should play any part at all in deciding how the UK leaves the EU. I genuinely don't understand these people and what motivates them - it's as if two parallel universes have intersected.
  21. Had to laugh at Farage. If it had been 52-48 in favour of Remain he was all for a second referendum: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/nigel-farage-wants-second-referendum-7985017 As it was 52 - 48 for Leave though it's a betrayal for Parliament to have any say in the process of leaving the EU: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/11/03/the-great-brexit-betrayal-has-begun-but-i-know-the-british-peopl/
