  1. In their 4 games against Italy and Croatia they lost 1-0 three times and 2-0 once. For a team like Scotland, who struggle to score goals, we could have a couple of tough games against them.
  2. Me too. they will probably offer any spare tickets to SSC members as a "reward" for renewing. They will also be keen to try to stop Scotland end tickets getting into English hands. They weren't bothered about that for the Ireland game but this is a different story.
  3. Have you checked out Malta's results in the last campaign?
  4. If my pet rabbit bit me, there is a fair chance it would end up on a piece for my dinner. Not sure what kind of crisps to have with it though.
  5. "The last reported death from a meteorite strike was in 1825, according to a list kept by the International Comet Quarterly scientific journal." Must be quite an exciting time for the person who's job it is to update that list.
  6. These guys are telling us that austerity doesn't work. The Tories realised that a couple of years into their "austerity" program but it suited their political agenda to keep on banging on about it. Some folk will argue that "austerity" was never really part of their plan in the first place. It just sounded good when trying to win votes. "Austerity" is defined as the measures taken to pay down government debt. This usually includes reduced spending AND INCREASING TAXES. The UK government hasn't paid down any of the debt, not one penny. The debt continues to grow every single second. About £5000 every single second. What we are talking about here is the dismantling of the welfare state not "austerity" The Tory plan here is to continue the program of the transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich. The "austerity" word is just a smokescreen.
  7. Two can play that game. "The UK Treasury initially accepted PD, as recommended by the Calman Commission but subsequently agreed to the ID approach for income tax. Having initially argued that ID was ‘too complicated’ it has more recently wished to apply it across the board. This is not in the devolved territory’s interest if its own tax base is inevitably slower growing than that of the UK. " "Scottish policy risk. If the Scottish Government embarks on a policy which harms the Scottish income tax base, then it will incur the costs of so doing since the BGA will not be adjusted to compensate the Scottish budget." http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_FinanceCommittee/Scotland_Act_12.pdf IMO, and the opinion of folk wiser than me, an increase in SIRT would reduce the Scottish income tax base due to people moving their tax base south of the border and the damage to the economy. Even the guy who devised the system says this would not be in the interests of the devolved countries.
  8. I often put crisps on a piece, I thought I was being quite posh.
  9. Aye, I think the going rate is about £35 for a jobby on company time.
  10. Your Tory pals have the power to increase income tax tomorrow if they wanted to. Why don't they do it? The Labour party had plenty time to do it as well but they didn't. In fact they reduced income tax. Why do you think that is, Alan? I'm sure you know the answer. It's not rocket surgery. And they are making full use of their powers. They are just not making the daft decisions that you want them to.
  11. Can you explain how the reduction is calculated? Not just for the first year, that's the easy bit, but for subsequent years. I'm not concerned too much about the impact of Labour's "Penny for Trident" policy as we all know in ain't gonna happen. It would be absolute madness for any SG (SNP or Labour) to impose higher income tax in Scotland than England. I am a wee bit concerned that we have been sold a pig in a poke with this reduction calculation though. If the Scottish economy grows at a significantly slower rate than the rest of the UK we could lose out.
  12. Did you no read the bit in the brackets? The also rans started out with the Fairs Cities cup which kinda developed into the Uefa cup. At some point the Uefa cup overtook the CWC in prestige. I think that happened sometime between 1972 and 1983.
  13. IMO there hasn't been nearly enough discussion on how these "new powers" will affect the block grant. How is the adjustment calculated? If you are an expert on the "Holtham index reduction method" perhaps you could explain to us why you are so confident that the block grant won't be affected. "Professor Holtham himself commented that the Holtham model "might not be in Scotland's interests if the Scottish tax base grows more slowly than the rest of the UK"" Increasing the income tax rate in Scotland would lead to at least some folk moving their tax base south of the border. This would undoubtedly have the impact of reducing Scotland's tax base relative to the rest of the UK. The size of that effect would be very difficult to predict but it certainly isn't zero impact.
  14. You have at least one thing in common with Cam Newton.
  15. Aye, the CWC was a more prestigious competition than the uefa cup. In fact some folk (mostly huns right enough ) would try to argue that the the CWP was harder to win than the EC. Their reasoning was that the EC and CWC were cup competitions and the CWC was full of Cup competition specialists.
  16. Maybe he's just a life long Panthers fan? You need to have a really strong competitive nature to achieve what he has done, but that's taking a wee bit too far.
  17. Aye, he didnae look too happy. He'll just have to go and win another one himself now.
  18. I fair enjoyed it. It great to watch such a dominant defence.
  19. Maybe you should be careful what you wish for. There are a few different ways of reducing your tax bill. Some of them are less pleasant than others.
