Is it possible to have SNP candidates stand for Westminster in England ?

If yes would it not be a good exercise on behalf of the SNP to put up candidates in Newcastle, Liverpool  &  Corby for example.

At least it would be a change from the mainstream parties and add something new to the political scene.

It's perfectly possible but I suspect it would backfire.  No candidate would come anywhere close to being elected and it would be spun as being a failure.

Interestingly the constituency of Liverpool Scotland had a nationalist MO from 1885 until 1929.   Despite the name however it was an Irish Nationalist rather than a Scottish Nationalist.   The name of the constituency derived from it being the area around Scotland Road in Liverpool.

Those days were very different though as there was a highly concentrated Irish immigrant community there.  That's never really been the case for Scots and even in somewhere like Corby - which probably comes closest - there isn't anything like the concentration of Scots that would make it feasible.

Corby isn't as Scottish as it once was now. There has been a massive influx of eastern Europeans and the Scots there are all older generations. Most younger folk there just say they are of Scottish ancestry
