  1. Met a guy from work over there in the 90's who played and I was taken aback that any Americans had even heard of the game. They've been to the World Cup of course since then.
  2. I think we will struggle to get back to '70's levels, but 90's level should see us qualifying again and I don't think were that far away.
  3. I was going to post a version of Lets Get F*cked Up, but think I did one already. Live at the Napa State Mental Hospital is, well mental too.
  4. ffs Barney! You're still alive; well done I forgot about Alex Harvey for me
  5. That did piss me off anaw, despite Portugal being my team for the night versus Spain for the missus. Just this once, I'll let him off
  6. Jeeez that's a thought, but despite the R'n'R cliche relatively few of mine are gone: Some of Queen, AC/DC and Tam White. Probably since I only saw a few in the 70's when young and skint, then I gave the 80's a bodyswerve. Artists I've seen in the 90s+ must have got more sensible, once passing the 27yo threshold of deth.
  7. When you get old, you start listening to music retrospectives I 'rediscovered' him at a diner at a friend of my missus' hoose a few years back, and wondered why I'd never heard his Irish Tour album before. Back in the day his band and Nazareth seemed to be on The Old Grey Whistle Test every other week. Sometimes as fillers when someone had stood them up I think. I don't think I've heard that Zepplinesque tune though, cheers!
  8. A wee bit self indulgent, but like it better as it goes on... Swedish porn for once Mikael dosn't mention, nor Abba
  9. There are four Greig's in Haifa, one near the stadium too https://www.google.com/maps/search/greg+cafe+haifa/@32.7908724,34.9596051,13.12z http://gregcafe.co.il/
  10. England are contesting 2030. I'll be deid by then so, ...meh.
  11. Haifa sounds more like my kind of place, if I could be arsed working The stadium is over the hill from most of the bars and such (from maps anyway; I've not been). There seem to be just a few restaurants and bars near the stadium, west of the mount. We're staying there, but want to bus round to the docks/centre/German qtr. or whatever to sample the Shepherds Ale or whatever.
  12. OK, here's a posting of the next tunes up on my 'pyooter playlist... BB King - Help the Poor Temperance Movement - Magnify Pixies - Gouge Away Snap - The Power Deep Purple - Strange Kind of Woman Bob Seger - Till it Shines Deftones - Rx Queen Dream Theater - The Best of Times Ella Fitzgerald - St Louis Blues Rory Gallacher - Bullfrog Blues Carolyn Wonderland - Meet me in the Morning Eleven - Reach Out Ann Murray - Silver Bells Skindred - Kiss and Make Up Hmm... Oh dear, some good tunes, but not cool enough for my bloated image on the TAMB. Reshuffle... Cher - Tramps and Thieves Opeth - Deliverance Down - N.O.D. TestamenT - Native Blood Kvelertak - Offernatt Fun Lovin' Criminals - Come Find Yourself Oingo Boingo - Dead man's Party Leornard Cohen - Suzanne Norah Jones - Rosie's Lullaby Bush - Testosterone Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Khaled - Didi Big Country - Chance Sepultura - Territory Mastodon - Siberian Divide Slightly better, a bit more metal, but ffs still enough insurgents there for certain folk to rip the pish
  13. My dad's favourite holiday location Jersey. I didn't know it was so easy to pull though (Only kidding. 1st bit true. I've not been. Still a rebellious teen, me ...?)
  14. Cheers Lairdy; that sent me off on a tour of the Cult plus the dancing cowboy had me into 80's gothic, but somehow ended up here...
  15. Quite glad were not in Jerusalem. I couldn't work out how to get to and from the ground given the late kick off. It was well away from the centre and accommodation. Not a concern for you now though!
  16. Woke up metal-rapping this morning They've taken our king and made him their vassal, Kneel down before me, the honour is yours. He's one of us, but now he's theirs, pal, No skin off my nose. I am brain dead, already got a bullet in my head. They said jump, I said how high, Just another victim of the in-house drive-by. (guitar rif...) Apologies to Rage Against the Machine ...and all of you.
  17. It is a thread about his knighthood to be fair. I'm not sure McC85 meant folk to take him literally, and seems to have withdrawn the remark. Myself, I'll understate that I'm extremely disappointed that a great man should accept this. Kowtowing, maybe even smelling the glove
  18. I'll take that as a good omen.
  19. I also remember raging at Craig Brown when he went all Ally MacLeod on TV dismissing Morocco out of hand. ffs, they were African champions and it was not the 70's any more (for us or them).
  20. I have to confess that when our name came out the hat for the opener vs Brazil, I shat it. The nervousness continued for the months right up until we scored as I feared the possibility of humiliation in front of billions. Yeah, I'm a glass-half-empty guy In the end though, had that same old feeling that we could have gotten a point...
