  1. Haha, that does sound like us. We're due a bit of good fortune in tournaments. We had plenty in qualifying but, as far back as I remember, we've never won a tournament game we didn't deserve to win. Others have. We had chances to win against Czechia and Croatia even if, certainly in the latter case, it would have been undeserved.
  2. This is the only positive. I wouldn't say I'd be happy with three points and non qualification but I won't see that as a failure either. I've only seen clips of him playing further back but I've read the reviews. Is your thinking Christie + Gilmour then with McTominay and McGinn further forward. So, McTominay and Christie pretty much swapping positions? It does seem so obvious that there must be a reason he didn't do it.
  3. I guess that's a more optimistic way of looking at it. I read it more as 'he has no chance but it's not my place to say that'. I hope you're right!
  4. So, in the current worst case (but not that unlikely) scenario that Tierney, Hickey and Hanley are all out, do we actually get any points? I
  5. Thomas Frank basically heavily implying that Hickey has no chance. For Tierney. I suppose it depends on how bad the strain is. When is the last time we put in a decent performance without Tierney? Spain away? He'll still go for three CB's and put McKenna in for Tierney. That not only means a diminished defense and attacking threat but also probably means Hendry in the centre as Hanley not looking good either.
  6. Though I think he generally did OK for us and had sone good performances (England, Austria away etc.), he is part of the reason I worry when people suggest SPL players for the squad. That's unless they've been outstanding performers like McGregor or Shankland. It's a big step up to go from solid or good SPL player to playing for Scotland.
  7. Of Cooper goes, one of Souttar and Hanley isn't going (assuming other CB's fit) so I don’t think that will add to the numbers. I also expect him to take Taylor especially if there are still doubts over Hickey. That leaves me 2 more spots. No ideas.
  8. Struggling to add three more players to my above squad. There must be at least one wildcard.
  9. If Armstrong now makes it, I'm going with the same as I wrote above plus him as I figure he wouldn't be playing full matches anyway. If Hickey is back and fit, the only big loss is Ferguson and things are looking up if McTominay isn't seriously injured. I still have a slight worry about McGinn being exhausted especially if Villa reach a European final. I expect Cooper to come in if Hanley isn't fit. GK; Gunn, Clark, Gordon DF- Hanley, Souttar, Porteous, Hendry, McKenna, Robertson, Tierney, Hickey, Ralston MF-Christie, McGinn, McTominay, McGregor, Gilmour, McLean, Armstrong, Fraser FWD-Dykes, Adams, Shankland
  10. That is good news. He most likely wouldn't be playing 90 minutes anyway so I wouldn't be as worried about his fitness as someone like Hickey.
  11. He made two bad mistakes today. The first one was especially bad. He let himself get robbed by Vargas and a better team would have punished him. I suppose it would be Souttar, Gordon and Shankland thar Clarke was watching. Gordon had no chance really with either goal and Shankland put a header into the side netting. He actually played quite deep the first half and put in an outstanding ball at one point.
  12. Actually, there were calls for Southgate's head after their NL performance. They then had a pretty good World Cup so now they get the benefit of the doubt. If we do well in the Euros, we'll get the benefit if the doubt next time we lose friendlies
  13. Souttar currently doing his best to play himself out of the squad in front of Clarke. Shankland has done OK so far.
  14. The good news is we weren't at full strength against Ukraine as Robertson was out (we played Tierney at LB) and Gilmour wasn't playing. The Spain match we were at full strength though you could argue Gilmour (who was an unused sub) would make that team better. The Denmark game was a dead rubber for them. It was a good performance nonetheless.
