  1. No Gilmour either...... he was playing for Chelsea in the Youth Champions League last night.
  2. He had a long injury lay off.... there’s every chance he will be involved in the Everton first team in the coming weeks. But I agree, he shouldn’t be selected until he is playing first team football.
  3. Forget Che Adams, Hornby will be the main man soon....another goal for him last night......and he’s comitted to Scotland!
  4. Fraser Hornby is a virtual stick-on full internationalist as long as he stays fit. Ryan Hardie is definitely one to consider......has the talent, is very highly rated and is finally maturing.
  5. Yeah I agree, and on top of this, having a core of young Scottish players developed through the youth system gives the clubs an identity. Players that know what it’s all about to play for that club and have aspired to play for the senior team. Look what it meant to Cochrane to bang in that goal against Celtic! You just don’t see that in a team full of foreigners and English journeymen.
  6. Am not saying they should carry the team, they have plenty experience around them in players like Naismith and Berra. They won’t develop unless they are playing with and against senior players. Last year the match day squads were littered with young Scottish talent..... this year they have been bombed for some pretty substandard footballers from what I’ve seen.
  7. This is the point I was making.......they aren’t any better. He has went down that primitive route of signing very average foreign and journeyman players instead of developing their own players.......who, in my opinion, are already better footballers.
  8. If you read the forums, a lot of the fans, even though not totally convinced about him, believe he offers more than other players in a similar position....namely Fred, Perreira. And you have got to remember the way Mourinho used him in games....... A centre half he definitely is not! It took Fletcher years to eventually win the fans over.....and this was after Roy Keane slated him publicly!
  9. Really disappointed in Levein and Hearts. The likes of Cochrane and McDonald played a big part in the success of the team last year.....but they are rarely seen in the squad now. Frustrating thing is, Hearts look worse for it!
  10. Noticed that he commented on Billy Gilmour’s Instagram post earlier....... Future international team mates maybe.......
  11. Yeah but I think it definitely counts for something that he has decided to stay with Celtic......am sure he wouldn’t have been short of options down south. Whatever he chooses to do, he is a special talent, and hope he has a successful career.....unless he opts for England....then I hope it’s just a successful club career.😜
  12. I had pretty much given up hope on him choosing Scotland.......... but am surprised he stayed at Celtic.......that could be a big statement! The potentiality of Dembélé and Gilmour being in the full squad in next few years is very exciting!
  13. Gauld scored a double for Farense in the league today.....for those who still believe he may have something to offer at international level.
  14. I’ve been calling for this for a while......he was also excellent for Scotland u21s at RB.
  15. Very talented, he took his goals well and his movement was excellent all night. His attitude was terrible at St.Mirren, but hopefully he’s maturing now.
  16. The one area that really concerns me over the next few years, and it just so happens to be one of our strongest positions at the moment, is the goalkeepers. Once McGregor and Gordon retire, it is looking very thin. No one stands out to me. Robbie McCrorie had so much potential but looks to have a bad mistake in him nearly every game.

    Forrest

I will be the first to admit that statistically Forrest’s record before Saturday was very poor, but I still believe that has been symptomatic of the poor Scotland teams he has been part of. Since Faddy we have never really had that talisman, that stand out performer, especially in an attacking sense. We certainly haven’t had a player who has stepped up in a massive game when the chips are down and single handedly fired us to a major finals or play off.....until last night. It is no coincidence that when we play with more dynamism from middle to front, that we see a different player. I just fear that as soon as he has an off game, or a less effective game, the snipers will be back giving it, “Forrest back to his usual pish!”. He has been a joy to watch, in fact a lot of Scotland’s attacking play as a whole, has been great to watch the last couple of games. Embrace it!
  18. A lot of positives taken from today, the game tonight obviously, but also the u19s topping their group undefeated. Billy Gilmour a stand out again.
  19. Agree this has definitely played a factor, he never even started the game well tonight, but once he got that first goal, he went to a level above anyone else on the pitch. Armstrong was my pick of the rest. He was the driving force in midfield. Quality player.
  20. Spot on👍🏼 We are not without our flaws obviously, but some of our forward play was fantastic to watch.....the pace and directness of Forrest and Fraser will give any international team problems. I’ve stuck by Forrest from the start and am just delighted to see the wee man step up in style the last two games.
  21. Haha don’t expect you to be excited.....but one of our biggest gripes has been the lack of quality being produced in this country in recent years..... if rangers develop a top player who has played for Scotland through all the age groups, then suddenly decides to defect to a different country then there’s not much we can do...but at least shows we might be turning a corner and we may now be producing a better quality of player through our youth system.
  22. Am not convinced by Rudden, and am disappointed Aitchison hasn’t kicked on and made a few more first team appearances for Celtic despite how young he is. Think he lacks pace at that level. Mebude is a real talent though and is still only 17....banged in a few goals for Rangers reserves recently. Fraser Hornby is the one who will lead the line in the not-too-distant future, providing he stays fit and injury-free.
  23. Raheem Sterling went 27 caps without a goal for an England team with far greater attacking options. Teams often double up on wingers, especially when they’ve so got so much pace. Should give other attackers a bit more freedom.
